As I was watching Matrix: ReLoaded commercials, I was already making a comparison with Neo and Trinity. Neo said something like "I need you" to Trinity and I was like OMG!!! like Harry needs Hermione, badly.

Then when I saw the movie, I was blown away about how they support each other. They've very into each others needs that only one and the other can fulfill. Trinity/Neo's relationship may not be based on laughter and fun unfortunately due to the fact that the Matrix isn't a romantic comedy, it is a drama. So goes for Harry Potter. If romantic love is going to have a spot in the main plot, I would see her go the path of the Matrix, where love is pivotal, but it doesn't solely revolve around the main plot.

joey and pacey from dawson's creek. they were each other's protection and fought sometimes but made up again. and they started off friends first. and we all know that's important

although i was a complete dawson/joey fan, i would have to agree with you that pacey and joey fit better. i only say this because at the beginning everyone thought that dawson and joey were perfect together, (much like how people are with r/hr) but in the end pacey and joey were together (hopefully like h/hr will be).

I think I could compare H/Hr to Chandler/Monica in Friends, but just in the fact of a growing friendship that blooms into love. They are nothing like Harry and Hermione in other ways, though.
I also imagine Ed and Carol from Ed (obviously), but the other way around. Instead of the guy having a crush on her while she's dating other people, the girl (Hermione) has a crush on the guy. Both have deep friendships too.
I also imagine Mark Greene and Susan I-dunno-what in ER, the first seasons. They are both really good friends and like each other but try to deny it because he is already with someone else. She's smart and determined while he.... humm..... wears glasses? sorry 'bout that, it was stupid.

Regardless of the fact that Matt got her in the end they were absolutely perfect for eachother and there's that whole friends then love thing again.

Ok, I may be biased here because I am completely blinded by my recent fandom of this show (and the movie ), again, friends then maybe something more (is there an echo in here? ) and Miranda adds that whole "trio thing" to it, which is cool .

Those are the three that stand out in my mind but there are a couple of others like:

I know that they bickered a lot. ::sheepish grin:: I guess it was my fault for being off topic. They don't remind me of Harry and Hermione. I just sort of realized that the couples that I ship have the same initials. I didn't mean to make it seem like that Michael and Maria reminded me of Harry and Hermione.

I agree with Occilus Reparo about Tai/Sora thing. They were the bestest friends but Matt got her at the end. Er....

And also, Ash/Misty. Hehehe, i'm so childish. POKEMON! Anyways, Ash met Misty when he was beginning his Poke'mon journey. And that's like Harry meeting Hermione on the 1st day of Hogwarts. Ash and Harry were beginners. Hehehe. And also, Misty goes along with Ash even though she knows they might have troubles or get in trouble. Just like Hermione, following Harry around. And now, Misty and Ash are best friends, just like Harry and Hermione. And now Misty has feelings for Ash now. And it's like their 3rd year together on the journey.

Lastly, if you watch TFC, the Filipino Channel, there are a lot of shows and movies about two best friends becoming a couple. Like, Junjun and Jelai, from G-mik. They met on the first day Junjun moved into the neighborhood. Like Harry being new to the Wizarding World. They we're the bestest friend for a long time. Junjun really cared about Jelai. They spent a lot of time together although they had like 8 best friends. They were the closest couple and the cutest.

Definitely Mulder and Scully. I think enough has been said about that.
I like Ash and Misty too in Pokemon *child at heart* but they remind me awful a lot of R/Hr I mean they argue a lot, but still, when it comes down to it, Misty really cares a lot about him; I know Ron and Herm are friends, but I get the feeling that Herm cares much more for Harry.
Smallville!!! Not Clark Kent and Lana Lang...*obvious* Lana is more like Cho; fairly smart, pretty, popular, and has a football star for a bf (cedric), but I think it would totally be sweet if Clark falls for his best friend, and his other best friend is jealous (Ron)
As for Digimon, I actually think that Tai and Sora would be good, but that would be so R/Hr; I mean they bicker and argue...but on the otherhand, Sora and Matt met at a pretty young age too, and Harry and Herm arn't exactly friends at birth. I think Matt is actually more like Harry (despite the hair color) because he is the quiet and profound one, and doesn't Tai have a little sister Kari (Ginny)? I don't think Kari has a crush on Matt, but TJ, who happens to be Matt's younger brother...okay now I'm messed up...

I dunno...I think in the book "Emma", Mr. Knightley and Emma are like H/Hr...not to mention this is JKR's fav. book!
