OK - here in the UK we just went over to BST (British Summer Time) and I swear we're not posting 'in the same hour' as everybody else any more?!!!

Is this - er - 'fixable' ? unsure.gif

P.S. Who is probably feeling like she brought up something totally obvious to everyone else! blush.gif

Hi smile.gif

Go to >> http://talk.portkey.org/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=04
Select your time zone, and tick the box , or untick it. Something should happen, and hopefully it won't add even more of a gap in the times, but fix it somewhat.

Umm since this is a thread on time, I have a question I've never actually asked to anyone and it has bothered me a lot...

Umm, when is it...like, a new day on Portkey? I mean, when is midnight on Portkey? When do the B-day things change and all of that? I can't really get that... I've always thought it was GMT+0 or English time if you know what I mean... but...

I'm just curious, sorry for the bother.

Hi Anto,

The forums follow the Time Zone you have set in your profile. When you log on, you'll see all dates and times -- message posting times, birthdays-- in reference to your profile's local time. When you're not logged on (i.e., you're browsing PK's forums as a guest), the dates and times revert to the default forum setting. I'm not sure what that is, but it's probably GMT.

~Pen

EDIT: This means that if you haven't changed the local time setting in your profile, it will follow the forum's default setting. Nitya's post below is further evidence that the default forum time is GMT.

I dunno if this helps, but at 8 (EST, my time) p.m., the birthdays change. So you can go by your time zone from there, Anto.

Oh thanks Nitya and Pen! I get it now... so for everyone it's different... cool!

Thanks again for answering the question. smile.gif

I have another question concerning time zones. Up until yesterday, everything worked fine for me, but today PK is 1 hour ahead of me. I checked, and everything is as it's supposed to be: the box that states that DST is in effect here is ticked, and I selected the right timezone.

I guess that's just another problem that PK is suffering through at the moment.

I noticed too. It's an hour off for me. And although this has nothing to do with time zones, apparently there's a bug when you're editing posts. dry.gif You can post, but not edit. Oh well.
