Update as of Apr 18 2 PM GMT:
Next Chat is being planned here! Update as of Apr 13 GMT:
I had to open that poll as a separate thread, as my Mod Tools (the dropdown menu) are malfunctioning. ~PenEDIT on Apr. 13th, 2:13 PM:
PLEASE DO NOT VOTE ON THIS POLL ANYMORE!
Yesterday, we already made a new poll, that should clarify the TIME that we want to have the chat at.
The date is already set. It will be on Saturday, April 17th.
There have been quite a few posts on this thread after this one.
You may (should) have read James' announcement, and therefore know that a lot of posts that were made yesterday do not exist anymore, since some data was lost, and this is a backup file.
Please wait until the new poll is up!

Ri. if you need us to make polls, be sure to give us a maximum of 10 choices per poll. Maybe -- just maybe-- you guys can eliminate the timeslots that got 0 or 1 vote each:
7 AM - 9 AM GMT [ 0 ] [0.00%]
10 AM - Noon GMT [ 1 ] [6.25%]
1 PM - 3 PM GMT [ 1 ] [6.25%]
But it's all up to you guys.

Many of you are still on holiday, so you might choose another timeslot.

The poll's now up. You'll need to move fast if you're going to have the next chat as soon as next week!
Ri, your post now starts the thread. That means you can edit the first post for updates for as long as this thread stays open.
I suppose you can have this timeslot poll until Apr 12 6AM GMT. Then run another poll for the exact date. You can probably limit that "date" poll to Apr 14-18 GMT, to take advantage of European and US school holidays. Btw, if anyone has the
transcript to the Apr 7 chat, I'd be thankful if you could email it to me at gal_texter@yahoo.com.sg.

Have a good time, everyone!
~Pen
EDIT:
Ri, I've removed this poll for now 'cause I've just remembered
James' suggestion. If you want to follow that one, PM me / Nitya / Rach asap. Neither Nielle nor phoenix have the Attach New Poll option
yet. I'm not sure Kalie does.
Don't hesitate to ask either James or Nappa to make another global forum announcement. It helps if you give them a draft of the message you want posted, then tell them how long should the announcement last.

Pen: I just had a look at James' post, and I think that it's a good idea.
Just to check that I got him right though: his proposition was to set a date, and ask what times users would not be able to make it? It would be better to make a poll concerning which day to make the chat on then, right?
And do you think next week would be too soon? I don't think it would.
I was pretty sure that I wanted to say something else, but unfortunately my internet connection just said buh-bye, and now I forgot.

| his proposition was to set a date, and ask what times users would not be able to make it? It would be better to make a poll concerning which day to make the chat on then, right? |
Yes, that's how I understood it too. But I suppose each poll choices should span longer than 24 hours , say:
Apr 14 1 Wed AM GMT - Apr 15 12 noon GMT
due to the huge gaps in time zones. 'Cause that's what I found difficult with the first chat's planning -- some of us are 16 - 19 hours ahead of the others. Europe's Friday could be Asia's Saturday, or the USA's Thursday, you know?
So I suppose the poll choices CANNOT be limited to single dates like the following:
Apr 14
Apr 15
Apr 16
Each choice has to be longer than 24 hours.
You still have time for next week. The important thing is to let as many people know about this new planning session asap. The sooner those polls get put up, the better the chances of publicizing the chat.
~Pen
EDIT: Thanks for the info re transcript. I'll PM Nielle about it.

Hi everyone,
Nah I only missed the last chat by a couple of hours and it was only cos it's easter and I didn't get home till midnight the day before the chat. Otherwise I would have got to it. I also probably missed it because I didn't come back and check the time until yesterday.
Anyway I think we should have more than one chat a week because I'm about 20 hours ahead of the US or something like that timezone wise and I don't want you guys to have to be up at so horrible hour just so I can be in the chat.

Gems: this is why we're going to have a new poll instead of using the same day and time as the other chat was.
My reason for only using so few poll options was that with less options we have more votes for each option with the same number of votes in general. That way it'll be easier to distinguish a clear majority of votes. At least I hope that's how it'll go.
Ri

Apr 10 2004, 07:09 AM
Ok Ri, after giving it some more thought, I limited the poll choices to 24-hour timespans. I then revised the Time Conversions table in the first post. Hopefully that will help our PKmates figure out their local times.
Feel free to revise or even erase anything I inserted in your first post. I won't take it against you, promise.

EDIT: When you're done picking a date, you can pick a timeslot. To further limit the choices, you can omit those slots that got 0 or 1 vote apiece in the previous thread's poll.
