Hi! There are many reasons why I love PortKey, and I happened to ask myself, why do others? So post your reasons here.

Hey, I just used TEE HEE in my very first post here. Its what I actually use in the other sites Ive been in. Sort of breaking the ice that burns.

cfluter (I haven't forgotten your RL name) - I can't remember what you posted exactly, but I recall thinking it wasn't really a reason, but more of a comment on the others' posts?

Kris, you have a point. But sometimes people point out a related aspect of a list item. It's also fun to see 2 or more people agreeing to the same reason. So I suggest our PKmates indicate the item number that's similar to or very closely related to their contribution. Yes everyone, do check the list before posting your reason.

REASON: Because of PK's spiffy board skins, Especially the current one! Going back to the default layout made me realize not every sites have skins that look as cool as ours!

Hello, fellow portkey members.

Even though this might come off as a bit cheesey, I'm going to take that chance.

I'm a lurker here at Portkey - I rarely ever post. But I've been here for almost a year (July 29th) and I have to say that I really love Portkey. Whenever I am feeling depressed or let down about whatever that has to do with H/Hr (such as in the movies or in the books), I just come here and read things that lift my hope for H/Hr and make me think that they do have a chance and it's not just R/Hr dominating.

I like posting with people who have the same opinions that I do, and I like reading essays and theories that support H/Hr, which Portkey always has. The people here are great and very friendly and always has new ideas which makes this messageboard fun to be a part of even though I'm not the most dedicated member. I remember when I was new, last summer, and I was nervous about showing people my fanfiction, somebody (I can't remember who) told me not to be because it's like a room full of nameless and faceless people that don't matter. Which made me able to post all of my fanfictions easily without having to worry about what people will think, and I'm so glad for that.

I don't know if I would be such the avid H/Hr shipper if it wasn't for this site. I mean, the first shipping site I ever came across was Sugarquill, and then afterwards, Portkey. I thought that H/Hr made more sense, so I decided to become a H/Hr shipper but then I didn't really believe in it so much until I read all the threads/essays/fics.

I'm not trying to be so sentimental and sappy here but - *hugs everybody*

What I'm trying to say is:

I share some of your opinions, I still don't show my fanfiction to many people. Also, I can't post it on this site. Some of it doesn't exactly fit the accepted ships. sorry everyone, but for some odd reason I like Harry and Tonks... not as much as H/HR, but I still like them. Because no matter if you are European, African, American, Latin, Asian, etc. once you log on to Portkey, we are like one "Portkeynation".

Because I cannot go one day without reading something to do with Harry Potter, and considering I've read the books so much that they're now falling apart to overuse (don't worry, I have neat copies of them all ) It's a nice change to read between the lines.

Plus... I'm addicted. >.< And I don't really know anyone on here very well, so that's good.

Also, this the ONLY place I'd ever feel comfortable sharing how much I hate the word starting with "plat" and ending with "tonic." Honestly, I try to swear and instead of saying something normal like "dammit" I confuse the crap out of people with stuff like "why you little platonic wormrat!!!!!!"

I love Portkey because:

(a ) I can post fics here that I can't post anywhere else *cough*smut*cough*
(B ) I don't need to explain to people here why I love the idea of Harry and Hermione as a couple
(c ) it has some brilliant essays that help explain to us (and others) the various hidden meanings and symbolism in the HP books that support the H/Hr ship.
(d ) where else could I find so many great H/Hr stories??

Reason 1 in my book:
Because Pk is the best H/Hr site ever!

I PK because This place is the best place for me for hardcore H/H shipper like me.
No R/H, No H/G, No D/H and No ..... a lot of shipper out there who look at me like I'm very idiot when I say Harry and Hermione meant to be , they are soulmate and they need each other for life.
I'm very happy to be here only place that bring broad smile to my face even I have crisis situation in RL.

What is it about PK?

I've been on a number of other boards, and I've always been either kicked off or shouted down for my stance on HH, or oppositely, I've just gotten bored with it...

What is it about PK that causes you to come back to it?

I love the people, the ship, the oddball humor that we have here...what's not to come back to?

Everyone has something to say, everyone is respectful. Its a great enviorment. There's place for fun theres place for debate. The people are great and really smart. The quirky humour. All in all its the perfect place to express H/HR love!

I agree with Ravenclaw(d69). Perhaps what I love most in portkey is how people here respect the opinion of others without making fun of them, no matter how crazy their ideas may appear to be. Although I have been sorely dissapointed with JK Rowling and what she has done to canon, portkey is still too great and wonderful to be shot down just because its ship sunk. Oh and of course, portkey is not portkey without the FANFICTION. They're just... fantastic.

The ship, the people, the sense of community. I love that people 'get me' here. In real life, I tend to hide my obsession for HP and definitely my love for H/Hr (especially now). On PK, I can be free to voice my opinions and have them respected instead of laughed at. PK is a great place!
