Hi.

I have problems with the Media section.
No matter I logged in, I can't click on thumbnails to see pictures.
I can't submit new pictures either. sad.gif
Can you tell me what's wrong?

Thanks in advance,

This is indeed a problem ... I will try to fix it. If need be, I'll doa lot of editing and reduce the site to basics... sad.gif This should not be happening..

ps: sorry for the late reply.

Hi, this is my first post although I have been a loyal PK visitor/lurker for a while now. I tried to contribute my fanart through Media PK, but I'm not sure it worked... I tried several times because I wasn't sure... Um, so basically I was wondering, how do you know that your sample has uploaded successfully? I provided an HTML link. When I pressed SUBMIT there was an error message but oddly, I was then connected to the link that I provided... is that normal?

Thanks a lot and I really love all the artwork in the Media section, especially Muddgutts' and Kirixchi's stuff!

Hi Keurigi The fanart section works by you writer emailing me a few thumbnail, or uploading it into the new user signup. As soon as it's done, I get a message. When I login or Heaven logins, we approve the accounts. And then we let you post your work. You get full access to the uploading features then.

I will go and have a look at your artworks ^.^ -- I hope I cleared up some of the things. Can you tell me what the problem is ? I'm not exactly sure I understood.

thanks

Hi Nappa, thanks for your reply - I wonder did you get my thumbnail + the link? I inputted them via the New Artists signup page on Media PK... I did it 3 times and then I stopped because it didn't seem to be working... After I pressed the "submit" button, there would be an error message but I could never read it because I would then immediately (automatically) be taken to the HTML link that I inputted... Does that make sense?

Hmm I was wondering if I should try again, as there was no message saying that the submission was successful, or anything... would it be better if I emailed you the link or am I allowed to post links here or...?

Thanks a lot!! 1eye.gif I love these smilies...
NAPPA
Hi Keurigi, it's not a problem. I've gotten your email - I replied back too ^.^ Not sure you got it ^.^ Ahh yes -- I realised the problem. I've changed the pages to handle this properly. Basically, we didn't used to have full image show up. And remote files needed to be audirecting to the website. But I'd not made the adjustement all over the site ^.^

Anyway. Now I've changed it all. It should work properly now smile.gif

Ofcourse you're allowed to post on this matter. Don't worry, portkey is a lot relaxed, if you make a mistake, one of the moreators will tell you the mistake you've made. If you do not get any messages, assume everything is right. If it's not, you will get a message. If you don't, but do see a problem, don't hesistate to email or PM me. smile.gif

I seem to be having trouble with the fan art? Can someone please tell me how I can see larger images of the fanart, because there seems to be no direct links? Do I have to register to view the art? Please help!!!!!!
gal-texter
Hi,

You need to log on Portkey's Portal, http://portkey.org/. From there, go to the Site Navigation menu, then click on Fan Arts.

Muddgutts
Nappa,
I'm still having a problem viewing images at the Media section. I click on them and then it just waits and waits, but nothing happens. Is this due to my images being hosted off site? or is the system just slow with the viewing requests?

Vic
NAPPA
this problem isn't because of this. It's something else. Basically we use a tracker to keep track of hits. The website that gives this service is having really bad connections to the US -- so it's making problems. I'm removing this tracer in 1 minute. Please check back soon and tell me.
NAPPA
ADDITION -- I've removed it - Let me know if it worked or not smile.gif

Pen's right. You have to register, and only then can you see the Media part of Portkey. You can also get there by clicking on the 'M' icon that's on the top of every page.

I noticed the media section has been down for several weeks and I was wondering:
a)What happened with it?
cool.gif When will it be back?

Thanks in advance,

Hola Estrella! The Media section will be back on Monday. It was having problems, probably because of the server change a few weeks back, so it was temporarily disabled.

Er, at least that's what I'm guessing. But it'll be back on Monday, I know that for sure.

If it's not back by Monday, then there'll be plenty of you who'll nag NAPPA to put it back up! laugh.gif laugh.gif Patience, my dears, my patience. NAPPA's working on it as we speak. ~Pen/gal-texter

Hi,

I've been wanting to have a look at the wonderful selection of art this site has to offer. I'm a Niffler on FAP looking for art and when I go to Media Portkey and find an artwork which is a potential rec, the picture won't load. It takes awhile and then the server says there is some sort of error on page, try connecting later.

Now at first I thought it was just me, but other people have experienced the same problem.

tata.
NAPPA
is it happening now ? Because I've not seen this problem . I do know that sometimes the pages load slowly on this... and me and Jame are working on a rather radical solution. ^.^ But we don't know why this isn't working properly for you.

Can you tell me if this is happening now, or before, or only at peak times when the forum is FULL or the fanfiction section has loads of people in it ?

We'll be updating the media section of the site in the coming week, and we request that people put in requests about what they want to see in that part of the site. Do you have any particular problem in that section that we've missed, or ignored before. Please help us in making a list of things that need to be done on the server. We'll strive to do our best in making that part of the site more enjoyable to all users of the site.

It would be nice if you include the feature of editing everything in the submition system, so people who upload pics can actualize them.
Also I believe you should moderate the comments. I mean, I don't expect everyone to like every pic, but I got someone who said my art was disgusting. I believe that kind of flaming should not be allowed.

Hope it helps.

See you,

Maybe we could have an Artist List there, similar to the Author List in the fanfic side? To make the media section more searcher-friendly? The artists can also link to their "Artist profile page" and thus help advertise the media section.

Hey!

I can't access the artwork on the site. It comes up saying that there is a problem that will shortly be fixed, but it has been like this for weeks.

Can anyone help?

Thankyou

Afraid that message still holds. sad.gif Our techies have been working on that Media Section. They'll make an announcement when they've fixed all the problems there. smile.gif They've described some of those problems here and in the Announcements forum.

ok thankyou! I thought it was just me!

Feel free to move this Mods if you feel it inappropriate or in the wrong place but i was just wondering if anyone knew when the Fan Art section at PK will be back up. I've searched the whole of this section and can't find a date.

Thanx Pumkitters!

Well, I've managed to make the gallery section get up and running. you can see it at ( http://talk.portkey/gallery ). I've been testing it for two days now, uploading things. It seemes to be working fine. I would really like for people who have accounts on the site, please reupload your work, if they aren't showing up. If you are an artist and would like your artwork on the site - send me a PM smile.gif
mogliecat
It isn't uploading for me. I can get to the point where I can select H/Hr or D/G and whatnot, but after that it just loads forever.

thesmartditz
Same for me: besides the source picture for the header on the site, and some of the Lily/ James stuff, none of the pictures show up. But I am SOOOOOO happy that the fanart section is back up! It's a day to rejoice, definately!

Thank you, NAPPA, for all your hard work on this! You are a god! :-P

thank you so much I think I need to go to edit my gallery there.
thanks again.

Things are broken there still. Lots of images are dead. We're working on a new system that we will be using in the future. It will take a while to update, so we're going to use this in the mean time. We'll be switching to it when the time comes. We'll try to move the reviews and other things to the new system when we update it.

NAPPA

UGG... Well it seems that I have good news and bad news sad.gif

I'll give bad news first >

We seem to have a problem with the Edit Screen. Because of the way that the makers of gallery software made the script - users aren't allowed to reupload thier work.

Good News >

Magpie is working on a gallery project for portkey. It's getting there. We'll be able to export from the 4image into the new system smile.gif So for now the best solution would be to wait for it --- IF you had already uploaded those works. If you haven't then go ahead and upload the stuff that are are new. We'll be able to let you upload when the new system comes in .

esicardi
Currently I am not able to upload a thing.
But I guess that's just temporary.
We'll have to wait I suppose.
Harry snogs Hermione
Is there a time of the day which I can actually enter media portkey, without it being so busy that I get an error page?

I really want to be registered there so I can post my art, but at the moment I can't get through.
NAPPA
It went up for two days, but then it crashed again. We are getting too much traffic and that script really is faulty. Magpie ( RecEngine Coder ) and Exclaibur are coding the replacement of this section. They have made great progress in the development, so we should be seeing it online VERY soon.
