3.They are always concerned for each others safety and well being.
4.Though they may not be *in* love, they still love each other very much.

After finishing school I had to face what every male in Germany has to face in one or another way - being a conscript in the German Armed Forces. I got drafted into a Luftlande Pionierbatallion (engineering battalion airborne) where I spent my time until I decided to do something different, I joined the Navy then. Currently I'm studying social and political sciences at the University of the Federal German Armed Forces in Munich and will graduate there soon (about 3 months to go ).
I started reading HP canon and fanon about a year ago. After reading CoS I knew that Harry and Hermione are meant for each other, don't ask why, I just knew.

Why I ship H/Hr:

Because they just fit. They complete each other in every possible way. They already share the best fundament a relationship can have and that's friendship. They KNOW each other, not just their names but every feeling.

Well I became obssessed with Harry Potter after GOF was released. I read the book backwards from GOF to POA to COS to PS. So I knew about the kiss. I went through reading the books to see if there was a developement plot towards the kiss.

Well I support H/Hr for the simple reasons that they complete and complement each other on every aspect of there is.

I don't really care if we are being labelled idealist for the idea that some day H/Hr will be together. H/Hr will happened sometime is their life. They are too close to be friends forever.

Hey! My name is Elle; I'm fourteen and from Missouri. I have a slight Harry Potter fan fiction problem, meaning that I am often confronted with impulses to produce page after page of my fifth year fic. I don't think that there's a cure, which actually makes me smile.

We (sort of) have a dog. It's my brothers, but it might as well live here. It's name is Kelsey, but they like to refer to it as the baby. She fell asleep on the stairs today, and, not seeing her, I tripped over her. Mum was more worried about the dog then me, even though I'd just sprained my ankle. Aww, pets. I want a kitty like Crookshanks, but I'm allergic.

I absolutely adore Ron, which is pretty unusual for a die hard H/Hr shipper. Ron cracks me up. He's just adorable, (and I'd take Rupert Grint home with me in a second). He reminds me of one of my close friends; both are always good for a bit of comic relief. I just don't know what it is about the youngest Weasley boy, but he's easily one of my favorite characters. Maybe it's the temper. Maybe it's the hair. I don't know; you tell me!

I love love songs. I'm a sucker for them, and there's a ton of them out there that do describe our dynamic duo quite well. Even though it was a tad bit bastardized by those aboard the R/Hr, I still love "At the Beginning," which is sung by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx. I'm actually listening to the H/Hr CD that I burnt right now, and it's on "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic," sung by The Police, which I also adore.

Why Harry and Hermione? Why not? No, seriously. I only started reading the Harry Potter books last Christmas, and I jumped into the community knowing nothing. I had no idea what a shipper was; I had no idea that there's a bit of a rivalry between R/Hr and H/Hr; it took me two and a half weeks of reading fan fiction before I even found out what H/Hr stood for. I knew though, from the moment I finished Goblet of Fire that Harry/Hermione was what I wanted to happen. For me to be so convinced so quickly, that's saying something. But what convinced me?

None other than Molly Weasley and our favorite beetle. Having seven children, I would say that Mrs. Weasley is pretty intuitive. She knows Harry and pretty much considers him to be her eighth son. She doesn't know Hermione in the same way, but she does know how the two act around each other.

And she believes the article that Rita Skeeter wrote. I think that's what convinced me, the fact that everyone accepted the ramblings of a writer (I refuse to call this woman a journalist; it's what I'm planning on doing with my life, and it's her kind that gives the rest a bad name!) so prone to lying without question. There's something there that we don't see. After all, Harry's a fourteen year old boy, and all the boys of my age that I know would continue to miss things even if they were to dance around wearing Dobby's tea cozy.

My mom bought me the book "Harry Potter and The Sourcerers Stone" When I was eleven, I think, and I started to read it. I only got past the first chapter before putting it down because I was to confused to continue. I never picked it up again until after the movie came out.
When the movie did come out, my friend Mo got me curious because she is a REAL Harry Potter fan, she knows EVERYTHING you will ever need to know about Harry Potter and the actors who play them. Anyway, she told me to watch it, so I did. After watching it I finally understood what a "Dumbledore" and a "McGonagall" was. So, I picked up my book and started reading it. That was when I became obessesed.
I knew from the second that I saw Hermione fix Harry's glasses, that they would make the cutest couple. I guess that was part of the reason I picked up the book. I wanted to see how Harry and Hermione got along. So I guess you could say I loved H/Hr from the very beginning.
I laugh at myself now, because I remember, after reading two books, I wanted to read more, but I wasnt aloud to go to Barnes and Nobles (the local book store) for a while, and I grew Anxious. SO, I went on fanfiction.net. BIG MISTAKE. I had NO idea what was going on. I wondered who Sirius Black was, I remembered Hagrid saying something about him and a motercycle in both the first book and the movie, but I seriously doubted that so many people knew who he was from just one sentence. I wanted to scream in frustration everytime I came across an unfarmiliar name, and I grew angry at people who gave hermione a boyfriend. Only, it scared me because so many people were using the same guy. "Just who the heck is Victor Krum anyway!?" I said EVERY DAY! But, I understand now, and I'm so releaved about that..
Anyway, enough of that..

- They never ever fought. Not once.
- If it weren't for her, he would have died in the very beginning.

- Cho was just a crush, Ginny is just dealing with life as a thirteen-year-old girl, Ron is only after girls who aren't lazy, have pretty faces, and will clean up after him, and Victor is just to old, plus long distance relationships never work out.

Hi, I'm Jamie, I'm 20, and I'm a sophomore at Rutgers University in New Jersey (majoring in Journalism), I'm also brand-spanking-new to the forum, no one at school likes to talk HP with me, hence my joining. I figured this thread was as good a place as any to start.

I have to admit to rolling my eyes when my little brother started reading the Harry Potter books, but it's now been two years since I saw the light. PoA is definitely my favorite and I think H/Hr is the way to go because it's just so *obvious,* I mean, c'mon, Hr/R? H/G? Really? Who are you trying to kid? The hug at the end of the CoS movie sealed it for me, there's no other way to go. And then the cheek kiss at the end of GoF? (not to mention the ogling that took place at the Yule Ball). That Hr/R thing just totally, uh, icks me out, I guess is the way to put it. I just don't see it. And Ginny's Ron's little sister, that's all I can see her as thus far in the books. It just doesn't make sense to me. I can't wait to see where this all goes.

I got my start reading fanfic from MSR - X-Files and after reading all 4 HP books in 2 weeks over a school break I realized I needed some closure on this H/Hr thing and started inhaling fanfic.

So hey, what's up? I'm Holly, I'm 19 years old, and I live in Flint, MI in the good ol' US of A. I'm going to Mott Community College and majoring in theatre, which is the best thing I've ever been involved in; I've met many incredible friends there. My parents are divorced, so I live with both of them on different days of the week. I have a very talented dog named Chyna who can say "I love you", and two precious tiger tabby kitties named Daria and Amy. I became addicted to Harry Potter when we began reading the books for English class in high school. As a class, we went to see HP & the SS, and I became an instant H/H 'shipper when I saw the chemistry between Harry and Hermione in the movie. I immediately purchased all the HP books, and was disgusted by Ron's crush on Hermione in GOB. *Waves H/H flag*

hey i'm Brit from Tx... i'm 16. i'm really glad i found this page. so few people talk to me about HP at school... if i find out new info there's no one to share with!!! i have one cat named Hikaru (after the Magic Knight Rayearth character) who is extremely energetic and is trying to chew on my hand while i'm typing this!

i regretably admit that i was not interested in HP at first. but when my friend took me to see the first movie, i thought "wow, now i gotta read the books to see what happens". thus began the obsession!

at first i had no ship. i saw a possibility of R/Hr but didn't think much of it... but when i read them again, i noticed little things that pointed to H/Hr!! i became addicted to the idea am will stick to it until i die!!

Why H/Hr?
the way their friendship is portrayed, shows that a major relationship would definitely work between them. they complete each others characteristics, where the one is at fault, the other is strong, and the common areas make them that much stronger as a team.

Alrighty, I'm 15, living in Singapore, has a doggy called Chloe. I've got a cute little brother and don't really have a best friend, since I simply can't decide from the whole group of friends.

I first began my adventure one rainy night in 1999. I was watching the news, which is extremely rare for me. And there was something about JKR. Anyways, I had bought CoS quite some time before and never read it, but after watching the news thad day, I started reading PoA first. I was hooked. And well, after reading PoA, I went to GoF, then CoS and SS/PS.

In PoA, the moment I saw that Time-Turner scene, I became a H/Hr shipper. So I ventured onto the internet in hope of finding a nice HP fandom for H/Hr. At first, I arrived in Sugar Quill. I did not enjoy myself.
And I was wondering, does anyone ship H/Hr at all?

Finally, I barged into FA last July, and has remained a devoted H/Hr shipper hence.

Top Ten reasons for H/HR:

~Harry and Hermione are really, as Holly said, Kindred sprits. (oh, how I love Anne/Gilbert) Or even soul-mates.

~She really knows Harry. She brings out the best in him.

Hallo! First of all, I'll just do a little summary on all the replies (since I'm bored, anyway...I'm on house arrest!)

The ages of H/Hr shippers range from:
13-14 and 17-26.

Most of us either were persuaded to like H/Hr:
1) From the beginning
2) were brainwashed by CoS (the movie), the kiss in GoF or PoA, the ultimate H/Hr book!

We all think H/Hr should be together because:
They're meant to be, because they're kindred spirits. All other reasons are evidence.

I was brainwashed with the help of one of the veterans on this site, brandishing a powerful conversion kit...Hm...I'll have been a H/Hr shipper for about a year once it's May.

Fave Harry/Hermione song: Don't have any. There are too many to choose from! (Only proves that H/Hr is inevitable)

Why H/Hr?: Because they're meant to be. Because they complement each other. Because they're just comfortable together (Notice how often Hermione grabs Harry's arm?) And naturally, because they are practically telepathic. They complete each other's sentences, they can communicate without speaking...

Plus, Harry doesn't argue with Hermione all the time. Besides, most of the time friendship can easily turn into love. There's certainly enough potential there!

Hey, y'all! I'm Arian (or Ari--and I'm a girl. You'd be surprised at how many people think I'm a guy), I'm 21, I'm from the deep south (LA), and I'm new!

I'm rather ashamed to admit that my 9-year-old cousin got me addicted to HP. But, hey, you gotta start somehow, right?

I'm definitely an H/Hr shipper, and all the reasons why have pretty much been listed by everyone else. R/Hr is the kind of dynamic that is based on conflict, and those relationships quickly flare up and die out. But not H/Hr. That's the real deal.

Also a D/G shipper because there's nothing like finding love against all the odds.

And I'm gonna wave my "Ron and Susan Bones" flag, just 'cause.

1). They understand each other to point where they don't even need to speak their thoughts. They just know what the other is thinking.

2). They just fit. No explaination there...*lol*

I think Harry and Hermione belong together for many of the reasons already listed. They do seem to complete each other.

I live in South Texas and I first got into the fandom in March 2002. My eldest checked SS out from the school library and in sheer boredom one night in March 2002I picked it up and started reading. Next morning I went and bought all 4 books and finished them within a week (could have been sooner but I had 'Mom Duty' to do as well cook, clean, oversee homework ect <g>).

My initial impression was of H/Hr and although I have occassional doubts I still trust that impression. Most of the bad things that have happened to me all happened when I ignored that instinct.

I know I am posting this late, but better late than never.

My name is Alexis and I am from Pennsylvania in the U.S. I am 19 years old and began my journey into the magical world of HP in November. A friend at work kept telling me to watch the movies because they were SO good. I laughed at him and said it's for kids, but finally caved and now....I am more obsessed than he is.

I started reading the books shortly after that (with the encouragement of my sister's friend), and I am hooked.

I first started "shipping" H&Hr right after I saw SS/PS and before I even picked up the book! (I read CoS first, then PoA, GoF and SS last). I told my sister's friend that I couldn't wait for H&Hr to get together because I was SO sure it would happen! This was before I got to GoF, and she told me that I would notice the R&Hr coming This initially shattered my hopes for H&Hr, but then I found fandom and I am once again an H&Hr optimist. (Currently fueled by the JKR CoS interview)

I am also proud to say that I hosted a CoS DVD party on the 11th with about 10 guests and I have successfully converted them all to our ship. One even asked me for links to H&Hr websites today.

Well, that's all about me and my journey to the ship of H&Hr. It's nice to be in such good company.

She's a smart kid; she knows you don't talk about your best male friend to your boyfriend -- unless you can't help it...and that an eighteen-year-old Quidditch celeb is jealous of a fourteen-year-old student, well, that's saying somethin'.

-I read this somewhere and I *love* this reason -- Mrs. Weasley. She's constantly mothering Harry, she knows all about him -- and yet, she believes what Rita Skeeter says in the Prophet about Hermione toying with Harry's heart. Lord knows she wouldn't believe what Ms. Skeeter said about Harry's...err...odd tendencies re scar. But until Harry tells her himself, she firmly believes that Harry and Hermione are an item? With the woman's impressive intuition, that's ALSO saying somethin'.

I had put off reading the books because I mistakenly believed they were just for kids. My mom actually bought the books for my nieces (who are 9 and 5) and I read them after they got through! I was hooked!

From the very first book, I've been a H/Hr shipper. I can't really say why; I guess it was just a thought that I had reading that first book in that first meeting with Harry/Hermione/Ron---I just thought to myself Harry and Hermione will end up together.

Hello everyone! I think I joined this board a while ago, but never got around to posting. Anyways, I am an avid H/Hr shipper but I think I'm way in the background compared to all you guys. I won't say my age but I'll say that I'm in high school ... Contrary to my message board nick, my name is Kat (short form for something). At first, I wasn't at all a big Harry Potter fan but a friend of mine soon got me hooked...amazing what friends can do, huh? I fell in love with H/Hr's friendship at first, because it reminded me so much of the friendships I've had. Hermione kind of reminds me of me, except I don't have the patience to get over 300 on a course, but I do love learning, kind of odd, isn't it? However, a hope I have is that H/Hr don't date until perhaps the seventh book, because then, I know it'll last forever; mentions of crushes and feelings would lead up to all that.

Why H/Hr?
The main reason: True (or first) love should always begin with a rock-solid friendship, and Harry and Hermione have a rock-solid friendship, that's why they'll last, if they do (and hopefully they do) get together.
Other reasons everybody else has listed so there really isn't a need for me to repost what everybody else has said.

The more I think about it the more I believe that Hermione might not even realise that she prattling on about Harry to Victor.


And I've always thought that Mrs. W's cold reaction was based on her thinking that Hermione was "doing Harry wrong". After Harry himself says "she's not my girlfriend" Molly warmed up. If Molly thought that Hermione was "doing Ron wrong" then she should have still been standoffish with her.

I got into the Harry Potter thing after reading them to my (much) younger sister when PS/SS was first published in the hope she'd take to being a reading maniac like me, and realising I really liked them

Why am I an ardent H/H shipper?

• I love Hermione to bits. She's not afraid to stand up for what she believes in, and isn't sorry for what and who she is. I think she needs someone who respects her for herself, which certain redheads could never do.
• Similarly I think Harry needs someone who isn't in awe of him and doesn't have issues with his fame/success - Hermione is unswervingly loyal and is always there for him, no matter what. Ginny barely registers.
• One Big Happy Weasley Family icks me right out. I think it's a little too cliched and I have more respect for JKR as a writer.
• Even in my head they look 'right' together, never mind on screen!
• As a huge fan of Lori's 'Paradigm of Uncertainty' trilogy I have been converted to H/H without redemption - R/Hr in fanfiction never sits well with me at all. Bleugh.

My favorite character is Hermione and i want to see her end up with someone that'll be good for her. Ron just makes me mad with the way he treats her. Some people think it's cute, i think it's annoying. Besides, i think Harry and Hermione has a stronger bond than Ron and Hermione. He upsets her, therefore he upsets me.

I hadn't become interested in Harry Potter until recently when the first movie came out. After I saw the movies, I instantly became hooked. I've got all four books on tape and listen to them before I go to bed.

Okay I've never seen this thread before, so excuse me if I'm a month or two late..

I'm Annmarie, 15 years old(6 more months before I get my driver's permit!), and I live in New Jersey, proudly known by me as the "Pollution capital of the United States".

I didn't want to read the first book, because I thought the beginning was too weird. But when I actually read the book I loved it, and ever since then have been obsessed with HP(and H/Hr)

The reason I ship H/Hr is that I believe in the whole 'best friends get together' scenario. I don't think fighting between friends is chemistry, and I can tell you from personal experiance that 'opposites attract' relationships usually crash and burn. It's obvious in the books that H/Hr have a deep respect for each other.

Ok, I am Occilus Reparo, real name Jess. I am 17 years old and I live in Perth, Australia. I was born in Seattle, Washington and my parents brought me to Australia when I was 4 months old. Here's something funny, my grandparents got me into Harry Potter. See, a couple of years back, my grandmother (or as I call her, Nana ) bought me GOF for my birthday. Back then, I was ignorant and stubborn (still am but not about Harry ) and I had swore that I wasn't going to be roped into the Harry Potter craze, but I read GOF to humor Nana and she witnessed me eat my own words. Immediately I requested the other three books for Christmas (my birthday's in November so I pretty much make out like a bandit at the end of every year. ) and I read all three of them cover to cover on Christmas Day!

Now as to how I came to the H/Hr conclusion, it started with the hug in PS and I thought, 'hmm, thats kinda cute'. Then came the whole, 'You solved it, you solved it!' thing in COS and after the whole time turner deal in POA I was convinced. I think they totally compliment eachother, both in books and movies (the hug *squeal*).

Also, I'm one of the few H/Hr shippers among my friends who doesn't hate Ickle Ronnykins. I can totally tolerate him as long as he watches his step. If not....

Oh, incidently, I read kids magazines for Harry Potter stuff and in Disney Adventures a while ago they had an interview with our Danny boy and they asked him a question about Emma. I don't know if it means anything but I'll let you judge.

First read the HP books last summer because of some of my friends and my younger brother who all insisted i HAD to read it. Before then, I'd been swearing not to get involved in the hype (as I saw it). But I read the books straight through, back to back (couldn't put them down) and that was that, I was hooked. I have to admit that at first, I was leaning more towards R/Hr b/c of the 'crush' in GoF. But then a friend recommended PoU and I started re-reading canon and thinking about it more and now I'm a die-hard H/Hr-shipper and proud of it! *waves H/hr flag proudly* Most of my friends seem to be R/Hr and I've gotten into endless shipper debates with them, until we basically decided to call a truce. But I'm still working on subtly converting them, never fear!! *grins*

Why H/Hr?
trust me, you don't want me to list all the reasons... i'd never stop... ;-)
but to name a few...
1. I've always believed in best friends becoming more, i think it's sweet and H/Hr just understand each other, work together so well, and completely trust each other.
2. They're equals and I can't see Ron wanting Hermione to be anything but a housewife, which she could never be. She and ron just don't understand each other at all. And Harry does. :-D
3. Lori's PoU. Enough said. :-D
That said, I don't hate Ron. I think he's fun, a nice guy, just a little immature. I hope he ends up happy with someone, as long as it's NOT hermione.
And as for H/G, I just can't see Harry ever wanting to go out with a girl whose first words on hearing about him were wanting to see him for his scar, who developed a crush on him for his fame without even knowing him at all. I don't dislike Ginny, she hasn't been developed enough in canon to dislike her.
I also ship Lily/James (just 'cause I think they were adorable and probably very like H/Hr) and lean towards D/G because I like the idea of redeemed!Draco, Ginny growing a spine so she can stand up to him and also (*looks sheepish*) because the idea of Ron's reaction to D/G is just amusing...

My name is Lindsey and I've lived in Sunny Florida my whole life. The life I've lived is composed of fifteen years, and hasn't been boring for a minute! Let's see, hmm, I was a H/Hr shipper before becoming an actual HP fan. You see, I saw the movie SS first and I'm sure you would all agree with me by saying, how could you not become a H/Hr fan after seeing it? They just look so cute together! Awww.

Anyways, after reading the books, I'm convinced now more than ever that Harry and Hermione would be the most logical conclusion. And, I think this is just what JKR is working towards.

Reasons this 'ship appeals to me is because this is the type of relationship that I am looking for. A relationship that has a strong basis in friendship, trust and mutual admiration. I mean what person wouldn't?

This whole supposed "cutsie bickering" thing that Ron and Hermione have got going for them does not a good relationship make. I mean, it could work for little awhile, but in the long run it would most likely fall apart. I speak from experience, so I know what I'm talking about.
