I'm not sure, I have never done the poll thing. The only thing I see is," new poll," in the bottom right corner. Perhaps only a Mod or the creater of the thread will be able to include a poll...

Who created the thread? We could ask Kalie to create one I guess....because I think it'd be a certainly interesting vote. I don't know what I'd vote for, actually....

OK, I'll volunteer myself for the arduous task of going through this thread. Though some things are similar, and I'll have to combine them.

EDIT:Erm, what are the rules for a poll? Because all up, I've found 31 ideas in this thread, but I've managed to get it down to 16. Is there a limit to the number of options in a poll? Here is the list:

What would be the best gift for Harry to give Hermione on her birthday?

1. A date. (A walk around the lake, sneaking up to the roof of the Owlery and having a picnic by moonlight, a weekend in Gutter City)
2. A book.
3. Sewing a bookmark for her. Knitting a S.P.E.W. jumper/sweater for her. Knitting her a scarf with her initials on it. Making something, anything.
4. Writing her a story.
5. Reading “Hogwarts, A History” to her.
6. A pogo stick.
7. A Pensieve.
8. A kiss/hand picked flowers/a confession/himself/a proposal.
9. Broomstick lessons.
10. Helping out with S.P.E.W.

Hey Sandra, did you PM it yet? Hmmm...I dunno why the ball was blue not pink! Ask my subconscious! It was just a weird dream...I do think there's a limit on choices, but I'm not sure.

I sent it but Pen told me that the poll is restricted to only 10 the max of choices. So people lets start eliminating!

My vote is we kick out the riding of the bull, the blue ball, the book (he's done it before), the Pensieve (too young to have really good memories ), and numbers 5 and 6 (yeah, the pogo stick's gotta go unfortunately, IMO).

I say I agree with Jack...Perhaps we should add as a tenth option a "other" choice and for the people to state what they think is the ideal gift in their minds.

a "10th - other" option sounds good.

Btw, I'm sure Eric and the other Mods would've gladly helped you out as well.

I had a hard time choosing between Harry helping her out with SPEW (get your mind of the gutter, you idiot!) or throwing her a surprise party. The more likely choice though, in my opinion, was throwing Hermione a surprise party. So there you go Why? I can see it happening . . plus it would probably been a small, private party - either all Hermione's friends or just the two of them [Harry and Hermione].

I voted for the first one b/c they do all that stuff anyways for the most part, but just as friends. And what better way to spend a friend's birthday by doing all the stuff you love together.

I had to vote for the pogo stick and the blue ball. Lol...I mean what else? It's totally weird...sorry, Pen, just a weird dream I had the night after the clingy H/Hr picture came out.

I'm sorry to see the Pensieve go. I still think it's a good idea for someone like Hermione. When dealing with people as instinctive and Harry and Ron, you have to do the thinking for THREE people. From personal experience, that turns your mind into swiss cheese.

Innuendo is still refraining from commenting on the blue ball.

I voted for the second because amongst all the choices it's the most plausible thing to do or to give..... and beside Hermione would definitely love it because she's passionate about those said things and I don't see Ron doing the same stuff....it would be too mind boggling if he's the one doing it....

I'd have to agree with Millie. Other is just too confusing. There should have been a 'all of the above' option.

I was having a very hard time choosing between the Pogo-Stick, the slave for the day and a book-mark. Seriously, I wouldn't mind a cool as book mark any day. I still stick by my choice as Pogo-Stick.

What is wrong with everybody? You should all know that that is best present anyone could give anyone. I mean comeon! Only one person other than myself voted for it? BAH! Or was it just me?

okay... i voted for the same thing B... because it's something that Harry can do and HErmione would definitely appreciate or even love.... I mean I haven't seen any guy who has the guts to make something for a girl.... If Harry is good with words.... an intellectual Hermione would probably also like a poem or a song written for her.... but then again what would the lyrics be like.... hehehe that's for another thread..

I voted for the kiss and hand picked flowers one. The best thing Harry could give to Hermione is of course himself.
I can just see Harry spending a whole day meticulously picking flowers for Hermione. *sigh* this may never happen but I can dream. He'll probably just get her another book. Broomstick lesson would be cool too since Hermione doesn't like flying and Harry could help her get over that.
And of course he could help her out with SPEW but that's liking giving himself to Hermione. Awww...I just can't wait for PoA and all those lovely little hormones

hmmm...seems like i'm the only one who voted for "help out with SPEW". i just think that it would be really sweet and tender of harry if he offered to help out with SPEW. i'm sure he knows how important SPEW is to hermione, so he should know how much it would mean to her if he did offer his help (remember her disappointment when he didn't join her when she was knitting those hats?). this gift would be further proof of harry's respect for hermione. it would show that he'd do anything to make her happy.

Broomstick lessons, unless I'm wrong and there is no sexual reference in which case all of the above.

Most of the gifts listed are all well and good however a few of them seem utterly uncreative and i don't think some of them are very hermione- except perhaps the volunteering to help with SPEW thing- while others seem to be only for when their relationship is more firmly established

I vote for a journal with hermione's name inscribed on the front, with multiple security charms a nice pen charmed to never run out of ink and a bouquet of her favorite flowers, and maybe the latest edition of Hogwarts: A History signed by the author, or the journal, pen and flowers and a special version of the latest edition with a dedication to Hermione written inside instead of what's usually in the dedication part- what bookworm wouldn't love a copy of her favorite book specially dedicated to her?

or maybe a charm bracelet with things like a mini copy of hogwarts a history that can be removed and enlarged whenever hermione wants to read it, a little snitch to remind her of her favorite seeker, an hour glass to represent third year, her favorite flower, a little lioness, an otter with her birthstone for its eyes, a the letters S-P-E and W,- just little things that show that harry pays attention and actually knows what hermione likes
