combined similar topics about fandom-mates and moved to Announcements forum. Apologies for my inability to log in sooner and thus move this to Announcements.

As you can see from her profile, simons_flower had been writing H/Hr fanfic for quite some time. She branched out into other ships and fandoms and helped found and maintain the everything-allowed HP fanfic site The Quidditch Pitch. She was incredibly patient and encouraging with new writers and a genuinely warm and funny person. I got to meet her at Phoenix Rising in 2007.

She had a number of ongoing health issues and had been hit hard with a sudden spate of lung problems and H1N1. She died this morning at her home in Washington State, USA, age 37. She leaves a husband and a daughter and a ton of friends in the HP fandom. cry.gif

Oh, My! My wishes for her family finding strengh to survive this, specially her husband and her daughter. Words do not supply pain. Only time can do this. Unfortunately this damn disease are taking too many young lives.

simons_flower was one of my favorite authors. It seemed like only yesterday she was spinning out these great HHr fanfics.

I struggle to find the words to say to keep death from having the last word on her. I take comfort in these words, whose author I can no longer remember: tragic that her life should have been so short, but how much better than if it had never been.

I can't believe it, we've lost another friend.

I've just found out that Brian McCrary aka Fenriswolf, died on July third.

I loved his writing.

My heart goes out to his family.

Oh, My! That's sad! I never met him but it doesn't mean that I'm not shocked. Do you know what killed him? rip.gif

OMG! I met her online in FAP in 2003. I last interacted with her when I read her "Temptation" fanfic last year. A fellow fan of HP and Duran Duran -- IIRC the "Simon" in her pen name refers to Simon Le Bon (Duran's lead singer).

She was part of a small group of FAP H/H forumers who wrote often in the H/H ficlets threads. Somewhere along the way, she, Kaze, Max, Nic followed happy daze's lead in writing naughty (PG-13 to mild R) stories in there. They eventually gave themselves a nickname but it escapes me atm.

Gosh, I gotta tell them and Gil, Gilly, Faye, Marie, et al about this, if they haven't heard of it yet.

EDIT HOURS LATER: I've just read more announcements about Trisha and another PK writer, FenrisWolf (Brian). OMG!

*combines topics, edits thread title and PK LJ entry*

*Edit Aug 26: moved to "Prof Binn's PK collection" so this doesn't get buried down the Announcements page"*

I am shocked and grieved over this announcement.

I knew simons_flower as far back as fanforum. She was one of the 'originals'. H/Hr fandom has lost an incredible writer. My condolences to her family at this time of loss.
Fire
OH MY GOD. That's just awful! My condolences go out to both of their families in this time. That's just heartbreaking.

I haven't visited in a long while. This is sad news to come back to. I don't know them personally, only as authors. The community lost very talented writers. My condolences to their family and friends.

Hi, Max. I've PM'd many of our SCUSA buddies too although I suppose many of them have already heard this news from other people.

I haven't had the chance to get to know Trisha and FenrisWolf better. My memories of them include:

For Trisha:

After searching in old FAP threads, I found out what you guys (Max et al) called yourselves - "Corruptors of Innocence". It started with happy's "Footsie Distraction" ficlet. More writers followed with their own R-ish stories; Trisha contributed "Unexpected" which she later uploaded to Portkey.

I also remember Trisha helping me out with a technical question. She PM'd me sometime after our convo here, surmising that something in my browser's preventing me from viewing her site. Years later, I finally understood what she meant - that my browser 's security settings was set too high, blocking "adult content" sites like hers as she had a number of R to NC 17 fics on her site.

For FenrisWolf: he mentioned having health issues here. I also recall him joking about his age while we chatted about his author application.

Hopefully I'll get my author rights soon and will be able to post an expanded version in the fanfic section

*sigh* Afraid that will take a couple more weeks. sad.gif Yours is the 20th or so application still pending. Many Fic Mods are having end-of-school-term blues too, so I expect most of them read fics on weekends. It's only fair to applicants if we read sample stories with alert and focused minds. smile.gif

I wasn't around post-HBP, but I gather from old threads that he (FW) had very strong views about book 6 and how the fandom wars intensified at that point.

That is just horrific news about FenrisWolf. He expressed his opinions with verve and forthrightness and his stories were unique and among my very favourites!

I am just shocked and can't believe we won't hear from him again. I really regret now that I never posted a review telling him how much I enjoyed his stories.

I did include a shoutout/tribute to him in my own story, "After the Battle." I just hope he had a chance to read it.

I'm..utterly shock and sad about Simons_flower. She was the one that turned me to Trio Shipping. I loved her stories-even though I've never met her- she managed to get me to like nearly any story she's written.

I'm hoping her family will be alright.

I have just read this and I am so sad. I have always loved Fenriswolf's writing. May he rest in peace.

Max - sorry I haven't read your LJ PM before today! Here's the info you asked for (regarding Trisha). I'm putting it here in case you read this ahead of LJ, and because LJ PMs remove embedded links, right?

FA Cookie Jar forum and for H/H ficlets

PK H/H Ficlets <-- if you go over 5K words, put a note in there that I said it's okay. My co-mods would understand. I'll back you up if you do post in there.

I had found these old FA links.
