Hi and welcome to the Hermione/Harry Round Robin (or HH RR)! user posted image

This is where people can jointly develop a Hermione / Harry story. Feel free to give your constructive comments, exchange story ideas, and have fun in the process! biggrin.gif

But here's a suggested sequence of navigating this place:

1. Go over the story in progress.
Quickest way to do that would be to look over the "Easy Read" threads. They're essentially compilations of the story, with most non-story remarks removed.

Here are the Easy-Read threads we have so far: Twilight Within and Passionate Desire

2. Add your inputs to the latest Discussion Threads (aka Scratch Boards) for Twilight Within and Passionate Desire.

Any constructive comment is welcome! Voice your reservations about character or plot developments, suggest some scenes, give us reference links.

3. Feel free to write the story's next part!
All you need to do is:
--Write it in accordance with the Round Robin Guidelines detailed in the next post.
--Put a notice that says "I'll do the next part". Prior permission is NOT necessary to write parts of the story.
--Please post your contribution to the story TWICE. Once in its Discussion Thread, and the other in its Easy Read.

Don't fret over grammar, spelling, or punctuation. Other RR regulars will take care of that. user posted image Our emphasis here is to exchange ideas, not to submit a thesis. wink.gif This isn't school -- we're not aiming for grades, we're aiming for fun.

4. Other ways to help make the Round Robin grow:
  • Advertise the forum. Link it in your sig!
  • Provide URLs to websites that could be used as reference.
  • Cheer on the writers.
  • Visit whenever you have the time. You will always be welcome.

5. If you wish to contact us RR Mods for anything, then feel free to post on this thread you're reading.
We might need to move your posts later to a more appropriate place. There is a link below on how you would find moved posts.

NAPPA has approved for the creation of a Round Robin forum for the H/Hr section. However, in order for such a forum to exist, we must follow strict guidelines in ensuring that everything posted on the threads remain at a mature, respectful, and constructive level. These are the guidelines and must be followed. Please read through them carefully before posting. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

Overall Story/Posting Guidelines:

*BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE*
All PORTKEY.ORG Forum and Chat Rules must be followed. Just as a general rule, please be courteous to writings of other authors. Bashing, flaming, and negative comments will not be tolerated. A Mod will be notified if such distasteful behavior takes place. SENSELESS AND UNPROVOKED CHARACTER BASHING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

*THIS FORUM IS IN THE H/HR SECTION*
Please maintain the nature of this section. The romance that takes place throughout the threads must center mainly on that of Harry and Hermione. Side stories for the development of the other characters is permitted, but cannot overshadow that of the relationship of Harry and Hermione. SLASHERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

Angst may be used to further move the plot and add suspense. There is nothing wrong with having other characters liking Harry or Hermione, but do not allow the two fall in love with anyone except each other. The two are permitted to have mixed feelings involving other characters, however, those situations must be handled delicately and as stated earlier Harry and Hermione must end up together. Therefore, please do not allow Harry or Hermione to snog with anyone except each other.

The ships that will accepted are the same ships that Portkey supports: Harry/Hermione, Ron/Luna, and Draco/Ginny. Other possible pairings are acceptable, but must be developed delicately.

*PLEASE KEEP THE RATING OF THE STORIES “PG-13” AND BELOW*
Portkey.Org is open to Harry Potter Fans of all ages, young and old. We do not want to expose sexual acts or anything inappropriate to a person who is not of proper age. Therefore the addition of overly explicit details involving sex will result in the thread being shut down by Mods. If a sexual act is needed to continue the plotline, please use the ever-faithful “fade to black” method and continue on once the act is complete. RAPE, SEXUAL ACTS WITHOUT CONSENT, AND MOLESTATION WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

Keep in mind that the rating doesn’t apply to just sexual content, but also violence and language. Please refrain from using overbearing detail in terms of violence and gore. Such detail truly isn’t necessary to progress the story. Violence must be done tastefully.

Please refrain from using curse words in the story and dialogue. There are so many other things to say in the English language to express frustration and anger. However, if curse words are needed (i.e. a character has a mental rampage and starts screaming), please censor what he/she or they say. Examples of such censors are: #%@#*, *%@#$, and so forth. Though in general, please be wary of how such language is used.

*180’S IN THE ACTIONS AND PERSONALITIES OF THE CHARACTERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED*
A 180 is a sudden and drastic change. Such changes in terms of how the characters act should not be done unless specific and concrete reasons are stated. 180’s utterly destroy the flow of the story, confuse the living daylights out of others, and show incredible disrespect towards the author who made the original post.

Horribly Exaggerated Example of a 180:
Knowing of the peril that Ron was in, Harry quickly ran towards the dark castle. (End of post)

(New post) Harry reached the front doors of the castle, but before he entered, his stomach growled loudly. Unable to ignore the pain in his stomach, he decided to go make himself a sandwich.

Please try to keep the characters true to themselves. It is true that the personalities of the characters will change as they grow throughout the story, but we all can somewhat safely predict how they will act. Again the sudden changes in the actions and the personality of the characters CANNOT change unless specific and concrete reasons are stated.

*TO HELP THE STORY MOVE ALONG PLEASE FOLLOW THE OUTLINE/RESTRICTIONS AND LISTEN TO THE SUGGESTIONS OF THE ROUND ROBIN MODS*
To ensure that the story progresses nicely, a very lose and general outline will be created for each thread. Some may feel that an outline will hinder the creativeness of the story. This may be true, but the outlines will be very general and will not hinder very much. The outline’s sole purpose is to help the story move along, and prevent it from getting stuck in any particular point. However, in the occasions where the storyline doesn't seem to be progressing, the Round Robin Mods will have to step in to ensure that the story continues.

*DO NOT NEGLECT THE POST OF ANOTHER AUTHOR*
Never ignore a post that another author has made. Doing such a thing would by far show the worst sign of disrespect imaginable. If you personally do not agree with what an author has posted and/or do not know how to add onto it, please do not post anything and allow someone else to continue on. Everyone has a right to shape the story. Scenarios where a character "wakes up from a dream" would fall under this guideline.

Example of “Waking from a dream”:
Harry had lost his wand during the scuffle and found himself surrounded by Death Eaters. (End of Post)

(New post) Harry tossed and turned and finally woke up, finding himself in his bed, covered with sweat. He released a very sigh and was happy that he only had a nightmare.

The "waking up from a dream" scenario may seem like something that should be acceptable, however in truth is a very subtle way of discontinuing what the previous writer was trying to create. This scenario can only take place when it has been specified in a previous post that a character had fallen asleep and had begun to dream.

*CLAIM POSTS*
One of the biggest problems that occur amongst the writers when it comes to Round Robins is the aggravation that is caused when someone posts an addition to the story while you, yourself, were working on an addition. To help ease this problem, a new procedure will be installed that would hopefully prevent that from taking place. If you would like to add onto the story, please place a "Claim Post" on the thread.

Example of a CLAIM POST:
Hi everyone, this is Zanarkand. I'm currently working on a post so please don't post any additions to the story until I'm done with mine.

This will alert other writers that you are currently working on a the next story post and hopefully will prevent any situations where two or more authors post additions to the story at the same time.

Once you're done creating your post, simply edit your "Claim Post" and replace it with your "Story Post". PLEASE DO NOT DOUBLE POST!

If you state a "Claim Post", please add your addition to the story within a reasonable amount of time (10-20 minutes, depending on how much you would like to add). If you realize that you require more time, please edit your "Claim Post" to alert the other writers, but please do not take TOO long. If you realize that you won't be able to work on your addition to the story but have already posted your "Claim Post", please delete your "Claim Post" and allow another writer to continue the story.

*SCENARIO IF TWO AUTHORS POST AT THE SAME TIME*
When such a scenario takes place, the decision of which post should continue the story is up to the two authors. However, it is strongly suggested that a post be made that somehow combines the two posts. However, if such a combination is not possible, the decision falls upon the two authors. If neither author is willing to decide, the responsibility will then fall upon the person who wishes to continue the story. That author will decide which post to follow and continue the story.

*MISCELLENOUS POSTS*
General posting is acceptable, as long as they do not consist of one-liners. Compliments and suggestions are always welcomed. Constructional criticism is also welcomed, but only criticism that affects the story as a whole can be posted on the thread. If the criticism were to fall onto an author or a group of authors, please state you’re your comments in the form of a PM. AGAIN, THE BASHING AND FLAMING OF THE WRITERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATRED!

*SECOND MOST IMPORTANT RULE*
Have fun writing! This is what this forum is for!

*Mod's Note*
If you are new to the forum or to the Portkey boards, don't hesitate to post your questions on this thread, or to PM the Mods. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.
