Is there such a thing as a Portkey Bump?

If any of you watch the Colbert Report then you'll know what that means. But to get to the point....Hey there. You probably won't remember me, but my Portkey name is Ahn Na Blue, and I used to dabble in the fanfiction...a few of my stories were rather popular (What it Costs to Save the World, and Here at the End took third in that Book 7 competition, the one prior to the real *cough*crappy*cough* book 7 coming out).

Well, I poke around here now and again to see what you all are saying...I loved the theorists and I still revisit the old Alchemy threads...but I usually just lurk. I've been writing other stuff since Book 7 dashed our hopes and triggered our collective gag reflexes, and now, one of my novels has made the quarter final in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest.

This is what I wonder: Are any of you old reviewers still lurking around in here who would be willing to have a look at another project of an old Portkey author? Because they're announcing the top 100 pretty soon, April 15th, and I couldn't help remembering how lovely and literary you guys were when it came to reviewing.

Just thought I'd let you know about the competition....there is some great work there, and all of it available for free download. So if you feel like reading, go rally round some authors! And if you feel like rallying around this one....here's the link:

In the real world they call me Kendare Blake. They call my novel, Fade: A novel of desire. Actually just downloading it for free would help my sales rank.

And here's the link to the general comp, if you want to poke around. And hey, if anyone else in here made the quarter finals, shout it out to me! I'd be glad to review your excerpt.

I miss you portkeyers. Occasionally I'll still get a new review off a fic and it makes my day.

And thanks in advance if any of you decide to read or review.

bye1.gif I don't watch Colbert Report but I sure know you! Good luck with that Amazon comp!

Count me among your PK fangirls; you know how much I loved your H/H oneshot. Once I get back into the mood of reading longer stories, then I'd tackle your other fics as well. Dunno when that'd be, but never say never. tongue.gif

My only complaint is that why must many of you fantastic authors write drama or angst???? (*also winks at sbys and BB Ruth*) There's a big dose of both in my RL (but not depressingly so). Anyways ...

Your thread's okay here but it also fits in here. So I'll guess I'll let this stay here then move it to that other section sometime later. biggrin.gif I'll make sure to leave a link in here when I do -- or I'll probably leave a link in there later. Our fellow HP fanfic fans might get inspired to see people like you doing well with original fiction. smile.gif Not to mention what welcome news your post would be to anyone who's befriended you or has read your stories.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure about my chances in this Amazon competition, but I was still thrilled to make the quarter finals.

It's so cool that people remember a few of my fics...and I certainly remember lots of portkeyers around here.

What's up puck nc? I recall that your fic reviews are particularly insightful.

Sorry if I didn't put this thread in the right place! And I'm glad to see that the site is still going strong.

blush.gif I try. Thanks. I left you a review on Amazon after reading your piece there. I enjoyed reading it.

I finally started posting some of my stories here. Switching to full-time teaching has left me with much less time to read and write, but I still get a few sentences done here and there.

No worries, this fits in both places so I left a link to this in the other forum. smile.gif Just wanted to give you a heads up in case we eventually move this to that other place, perhaps when this one gets pushed down the page here months from now.
