I was just want to know how you came across Portkey and what were your first thoughts on it.

MOD NOTE:

I had just read GoF and i was really confused because i didn't know what ship i wanted to belive in, there's so many! So anyway, i searched after shipping sites on google.com and i found this. The link went straight to the HH forum so i begun to read all the reasons why harry and hermione are ment to be and so on. I just got a really strong feeling about the couple after i had read it and ever since that day...I'm a hh shipper thumbup.gif

So thanks portkey for this great site! wub.gif

Well... I was browsing ff.net and I was reading The Art of Seduction by Ryoko Blue and Heaven. Then a chapter came up where they mentioned portkey.org. I decided to check it out. Since then I have become hopelessly addicted to this site. I had been reading fanfiction for a long time then I signed up as a user. YAY! God bless The Dream Team!

I'm a member of a Harry Potter message board. On that board, there is a Harry/Hermione Fan Club thread. One day, someone posted the link to this site in the Harry/Hermione Fan Club and I decided to visit it. I took a look at it and I decided to register. smile.gif
Nikki
I was looking at google for H/Hr shipping sites, and I came across this one. biggrin.gif
It was a great site, so I registered cool.gif

It was really a chain link for me. This was the time into which I was first introduced into fandom. I was at a Dan message board that mentioned FA ,so I went there. The first story I clicked on was NAPPA's story. And there was a link to portkey in one of his chapters or a mention of it. So I go here and *POOF* the rest is history.
XxKkAnGxX
I was reading a fic that i believe was called "True Love and Roses"

I was looking at reviews when i saw Nappas name. Nappa was asking the author to post at Portkey.org, so i myself checked it out. The site was still pretty new then, but i found it to be very well made. here i am. = )

LOL I was looking around at google for H/Hr sites.. I only found a few, but found a WHOLE bunch by looking in their links section. (now I have a huge collection of h/hr sites that ive found) and when I was in 'crossing the line undrawn' in the links, I found this site!!! I was so happy! lol

I'm not entirely sure how I came to Portkey, but I'm pretty sure it was by way of FanFiction.Net. I must have been reading someone's fic and seen the website name there, or maybe I looked in a members bio page and found a link.

But, however I found Portkey, it doesn't matter, I'm just glad I did!!

I actually stumbled upon Portkey in December 2002. I joined up then, but I didn't begin posting and such until March/April. When that happened, I became absolutely hooked. I come here every time I log on. There aren't many sites out there that are pro-H/Hr, so it's good to have some place as a safe haven considering that many H/Hr shippers aren't well appreciated in the shipping fandom. But, I really don't want to get into that.

Anyway, I found the link at Megan's site Crossing the Line Undrawn in the "Links" section while I was browsing around for more H/Hr sites. And I've never been the same since!
Catzie807
I found portkey the same way potter_head did. biggrin.gif

I think I just kept on hearing about it in different places, and eventually applied to be an author...

when i was accepted as an author, THAT is when i decided to check out the forum.

MY b.f. who is an even bigger h/hr shipper let me know about it! and to her I give a shout out *THANK YOU CHELSEA* thumbup.gif
WonkyKris
I was reading the An Alternate Adventure: Goblet of Fire fanfic in fanfiction.net, (which is an awesome H/Hr fanfic btw), and in the reviews, someone wrote that they had recomended the story on portkey.org, and the website was really big on H/Hr. Since I had just become a H/Hr shipper, I decided to come and check it out. And I LOVE IT HERE!!!!!!
gypsybaby21
I think I found out about Portkey really early on. I remember looking for HP shipping sites...I found this one, registered as a user, but then I lost the link and couldn't remember where it was. I just recently found it a good couple of months ago...hmm maybe longer. Can't remember, anyhow when I found it again I sent the author application in. That's pretty much how I found it. I don't know how I got the site again, I'll have to think about that. rolleyes.gif I know! I'm so retarded! Anyhow--~Aya

I was lurking through the HMS Pumpkin Pie thread (in SCUSA) back in December or November, and came across a link to this site. I don't think there was that much on here at the time, but I was ecstatic since it was the first site I ever went to where there was absolutely *no* R/Hr

I stumbled across Portkey at ff.net (I wish they still had NC-17). I found the Art of Seduction by Heaven and Ryoko Blue. Anyways, portkey address was on it. Me, being dumb, thought it was like a homepage or something. Until I saw that other stories said that the Nc-17 version was at Portkey. Signed up and never looked back.

I found out about Portkey from one of my best online friends harryhermionefan. tongue.gif

I was forever looking for good L/J sites, and Portkey.org was one of the best L/J sites I found..... (how sad).

I stumbled across it many times, but I never really read the forums/fanfics here until one fateful day........ tongue.gif

Being of a different ship persuasion (that sounded weird... hmm), I've never heard of PK until a few days ago. blush.gif

I run a fanfic contest and one Jennie Ruth DeLurey asked me why I didn't have a link to PK in my site, and she said I should seriously consider linking it. I was skeptical with linking tor andom sites without checking them out, so I decided to see what PK was. I'm not exactly sure why I signed up, but I did, and no, I'm not regretting anything. I like this place so far, despite still being of a different ship persuasion (*where* did I pick that line up? I knew I picked it up somewhere... *where*?). biggrin.gif

So, yeah, Jennie Ruth, thanks much! smile.gif

Cheers,
Slumber

PS. And as for the fanfic contest site? I've linked PK. smile.gif

I came across portkey on a google search. I was searching for fanfiction this summer becuase I'd read the 5th book and I found it had more H/Hr than I had thought it would. So I typed a few words and found this site (and Crossing the Line). I didn't join till September though.
Lady_Slytherin
I was reading requital by msscribe on ff.net and she said the NC-17 version of it was here on pk so being the smut loving bunny i am came across and am now stuck here! As for alternative shipping i ship loads of pairings but pk has reinforced h/hr. (although i'm still a BIG Draco/Herm shipper) *Ducks from the rotten fruit being thrown at her*

I blame Msscribe. I was her Ginny Weasley think she's in love series that lured me here.

Apeman
I found after a search on on google. I looking for all the H/Hr fics I could find after I read PoU.
Cool Like Ice
I first joined ff.net for another book and its fanfiction,(that's another story, though), and then I was reading a story, I forget which, and it said check out Portkey! So I did, and here I am today.....

My friend, who's username is "Trickster" on these boards I believe.. smile.gif

It happen when FFN was always having upgrades and errors. I went googling for a H/Hr site and found the link amidst all the website and fics. Lurk for a while before signing up and the rest is history.
Quis
Well it goes without saying that I found this site rather early on, especially since my user number is earlier than TWO of the admins! tongue.gif

Nappa and James had tried a few times to make this site and I think this is the one that really worked. Some people might remember the earlier "Kindred Spirits" site which had a small number, but some of the best, of H/Hr fanfiction. I think it was on Nappa's "Septanic" site that I first heard him mention Portkey on that little shout box of his. That was last oktober/november.

He was still only looking for mods to help start it and I jumped at the chance. Just a little self promotion here but me and ECR were the original mods. whistling.gif Anways it was only a few days later when I got the email and the URL to go to. Happened really suddenly for me. It still irritates me than Nappa made 2 users for himself, thus being one more member registered before me...curses!

There are a few Mod appreciation and James and Nappa fangirl threads but I wanna say my piece here. It's unbelievable how far we've come. Portkey is the official haven for the H/Hr ship in my opinion and the addition of the 3 other ships has made a multi-shipper out of me. Our user base keeps growing, the forum never stops, our authors are tirelessly typing away for our pleasure and with the addition of the other few sites we host, like the HMS Harmony, I think we've become quite formidable. Now Nappa's gonna think I'm after money again for "sucking up" so I leave off here. thumbup.gif

Oye . . to make a long story short, I was visiting Aeryn's site and in the links section there was a link to Portkey. So I went there, visited it, liked it a lot (I guess a lot is an understatement now) - then I signed up. Of course I forgot about it for a few months . . . then I discovered it again (via CTLU) and the rest is history happy.gif

Btw, Quis, did you know that you have a fangirl following of your own?

I have a what?! Sheesh, just like me to miss something like that. I remember seeing "Quis fangirl" in someone's signature but, me being me, figured it meant someone/something else... Dammit, now I'm blushing!

Go, Quis!

How did I find Portkey? I can't even remember. I must have found it in a Yahoo search for "Harry/Hermione fanfic". I lurked for months, I think, mostly reading fanfics.

And now I've got more than 550 posts! Hurray! :woot:

Well......
huh.gif
I was looking for a H/Hr shipper Site on Google and here I am!
Really simple.

I used to follow the story Harry Potter and Septanic Dueling by NAPPA. Somewhere around the thirty fifth chapter or so... I heard about was it first called snogwarts.org or something like that, then there was kindred Spirit.

Something very unforseen happened which forced me to stay offline from July 02... when finally, I got back online, I went to ff.net~septanic dueling, it was never completed. I checked his Bio, and alas I rediscovered H/Hr portkeyfiction.

Anyways, I signed on and I've been rocking the sail's since then... some day, I hope to be a fleet admiral of the ship...

I asked in Sugarquill whether anyone knows any H/Hr sites besides the pumpkin pie (which was down at the time). Someone recommended this board and here I am.

I was searching unofficial sites for updated information about the next movie and discovered some fic links. I ignored them at first but after awhile thought I'd give them a try. I've been reading XFiles fic for a few years and was interested in all grown up Harry Potter characters. So, after discovering harrypotterfanfiction.com, I found a link here. I love this site because, for the most part, the fics are categorized by pairings. I found that, after reading the fourth and especially the fith books, I'm a H/Hr shipper. So this site is absolutely perfect because there are a ton of really well-written, all grown up, H/Hr ship stories to read. I like D/G fics too, so long as there's H/Hr and R/whoever pairings.
innermurk
I was being depressed because I just found out one of my fav. sites was pro R/Hr.
I had barely decided that I was a shipper, and I was taken into the world of shipping by force and surprise wink.gif

I'd heard about all these shipping wars from the HP4GU list, and I heard a lot about SugarQuill. Not knowing it was an R/Hr site, I went there excited to see what shipping was all about.

I was astonished, and offended, and basically decided not to be a shipper after my visit, as I didn't feel like I wanted to be categorized with that kind of behavior. (Maybe they were having an off-day, I'm not sure. And I have since met plenty of wonderful R/Hr and SugarQuillers)

A little later I was searching for H/Hr sites, because it seemed the whole world was R/Hr. I found a few but not enough to support my ever growing secret shipping habit.

One search led me to Portkey.org I was hesitant to come because I feared the same rabidity I had earlier encountered. I signed up anyway, and lurked around for a bit.

I was oh-so-pleasantly surprised at how nice everyone was. How calm and rational. How logical they argued the POINTS and not the PEOPLE. It heartened me, and so finally I admitted to being a shipper, and I posted and declared my ship here on Portkey.

I have since decided there is no board as polite, as well-run, easy to navigate, diverse in sections, or as wonderful as Portkey.org

I started posting my fic The Power He Knows Not of FA and one of the people who volunteered to beta and reviewed the first chapter recommended me as an author to this site. I hopped right over and started posting Power here. Now i'm putting the chapters up at the same time.

I've really enjoyed portkey and have since recommended it to some others!

I was twiddling around at Schnoogle, and read a chappie from a fic by Silvestria. I generally didn't read that story, but fate was kind to me that day. At the bottom, she had links for H/Hr fansites. One was PK. I joined a few days later and never looked back.

Well, I was looking around Yahoo, and I put H/Hr Forums in the search bar and dear ol' Portkey popped up.
So I clicked on the link and this came up.
I joined as soon as I came on and the rest they say is history! biggrin.gif

Used google to find essays or arguments for the h/hr ship earlier this year (after reading PoA). been a lurker since then. i didn't feel the urge to register until i read an editorial in mugglenet.com about an h/hr relationship. i sought this site out again after that and felt the urge to post my thougts about an h/hr relationship.

Reading FanFics actually! I've been a long time FF.net user (took down my Fics), and came upon the Harry Potter section. After checking out Profiles. I came Upon PK.org, but only decided to actually join today!
sydney118
Welcome to Portkey Miselle! I'm glad you decided to join. smile.gif

I discovered Portkey through fanfics, too. I was searching on google for Harry/Hermione fics this summer, and up popped Portkey! I fell in love with it immediately, but I didn't actually join until months later.

Kagome
I actually don't remember how did I know about Portkey. It's as if I always knew it existed ... I believe that I have read about it at Fiction Alley park, I don't know in how many threads.

One day I decided to go here have a look, and I found out that it was a very nice place to stay smile.gif. I like all the ships, so I visit both Portkey than Sugarquill, and recently also PhoenixSong. But I believe that the welcome I've received at Portkey made me love it even more smile.gif
