Okay hi everyone. I used to mod this forum a couple of years back. Hardly anything happens here and that is sad. I just came back to portkey and was sad that very little has happened in here while I've been gone. So I thought how could we fix that. I thought some games or contests or quizzes and such would be good.

I was thinking a scavenger hunt would be kindda cool using the books and the net. I'd have to think about how it would work and stuff like that and it would take awhile to organise it. Anyway thought I'd throw that idea out there and see what people think.

I had an idea for a ficlet writing challenge as well if people are interested i'll post it in that forum but basically it would be something like writing a scene from one of the books as though Lily and James are watching it.

Anyways anyone else that has ideas feel free to suggest them and we'll see if we can get some more activity in this forum.

I'll start working on the scavenger hunt thing soon. I finish uni for the semester in a couple of weeks so then I'll have a bit more time. I am thinking that it will be finding clues in partcular threads. The idea being that people will look at the type of discussions going on here and maybe post. It will take some time to organise though. I was also thinking of doing one using the books but that is a bit harder to organise.

On the fic one I'll work something out for it and post it up in a few weeks.

Don't feel weird about thinking about James and Lily when you go to bed, I do it too!! It's the best time for me to think about my J/L fic and come up with brilliant insights into where to take the plot, but then I fall asleep, for get the brilliant idea, and spend the next night trying to recapture it...

Writer's block sucks.

Hi Clio I notice you've been going through some of the old threads. I've been thinking about posting in some of those. I'm not entirely up on l/j canon. I have to go refresh my memory because I haven't written fics or done much with l/j for ages so I'm not making comments on some of them because I'm not sure that what I think is canon or not. One thing I love about l/j is that they don't have so much canon as the other ships do so there's a bit more freedom in how you have the characters interact. Anyway I agree this is the best ship. I'm not sure what to do to get more interest though as nothing works unless people are posting in here but I'll see if I can think of some things. Anyway nice to meet you.

I totally agree that there's more freedom in the J/L canon than any of the other ones. That's why I like it so much. Yes, I like Harry and Hermione and Ginny and Ron and Luna and (eeh...) Draco, but writing about them is so difficult because everyone already knows them *so well*. If you don't write Harry like JKR wrote him than it's not worth reading to me. But with Lily and James, we know the bare bones and are able to build upon those bones in fanfic to make them real people. That's what's fun about it for me (and my biggest headache, lol!).

I don't know how to get people to be more active in this forum. To be totally honest, I'm not all that active in it; I just go through every few months and see what other have posted and what I think it interesting or controversial enough to comment on myself =^) What I'm bummed about is the lack of really good J/L fanfic. There are some good ones out there, but it's hard to find fanfic for any character, story, book or TV show that has plot and drama and humor and character development in it. Whatcha gonna do?
