Hello to all PK-ers, esp to those who were/have been active in PK before Jul 2003 and after Apr 2005:
I need your help in:
1. Compiling a list of all mods since PK started in 2002.
All mods who had/have handled the fanfic, forum, fanart, chat and other sections of PK (though I think that's pretty much all of PK sections). Here's is the list I've compiled. It gets updated in real time.
2. Coming up with a group name for PK mods who are on extended/indefinite RL leave;
3. Picking mod badges for all mods on active duty or on RL leave.
That thread's in a mods only forum. If your name's on the list in item #1, then you've been given access to that section.
Re # 1:
If you can think of more PK mods (on RL leave) who aren't on the list yet, please post on this thread the link to their PK profiles.
About the current list, I got the names from:
a. my recollections of who were mod-ing PK before, during and shortly after my first stay in Portkey (Jun 2003 to Apr 2005);
b. from archive.org; *points at attachment* --> Click to view attachment
c. some posts I've seen recently in the mods only forums.
Re # 2:
Explanation for current group name:
QUOTE(my Apr2008 email to some PK mods)
Y'know, like that OOTP guy who was sent to the Muggle world (RL for us) to guard the Prime Minister. Hehe, lame group name, I know, but we can always change it.
Why put up this "help wanted" poster?
I doubt that there's a more complete (or less incomplete) list of mods anywhere -- there doesn't seem to be any way to get that info in the admin control panels for fic, fanart and the forums. In fairness, though, PK founders probably never kept such a list as they never expected PK to grow this big and last this long.
Why put the mods/admins on RL leave in a special group?
PK mods & admins have always been PK's most valuable resource. They've lent their time, skills & patience in screening fanfic and fanart applications and in keeping the forum discussions site fun. They did these all on a voluntary basis, complicated by the fact that their interaction with their teammates are done mostly online, not in the real world.
Their hard work can never be given enough recognition, but the least PK can do is to give them tokens of its gratitude. One such token is the creation of a special group for those mods on indefinite RL leave. For now, that group's called Guarding the Muggle Minister, and their user names appear in a different color than the non-mods' names in the online users list.
In sum:
- If you are or were a PK mod, please help with items 1 to 3.
- If you haven't been a PK mod yet, please help with items 1 and 2.
- Pen
quickly copies this to notepad as 5 y/o nephew has that naughty "I'm gonna play with your keyboard!" look, eep!
