Welcome back, GM! I'm merging this older thread of yours into your 'I'm back in PK' one.
This older thread's orig title was So I just wanted to say... I hope I talk to all of you later.
~gal-texter/Pen 8May2008To those who don't know, I'm currently serving in Iraq as a combat medic.
I'll be going on a mission tommorow... Its not an easy one and we have alot of obstacles in the way, so I won't be back for a little while.
Wish me luck.

Well all I can say is...
WOW
I didn't realise sso many people cared.
Thank you very much for your well wishes and prayers...
I can't really talk about what I had to do... But there were no casualties. Everybody made it if a little bruised up and shaken.
This means I won't be leaving again for a while too. Missions like that one are few and far in between

thank god...
Once again, thank you for all your replies,
It definitely made me extra-glad to be back.

This originally started a separate thread called Has it really been that long?..., I see some things have changed.... Have merged it into GM's other thread.
GM's first line below refers to this forum's older name, Welcome BACK, oldbie PK-ers!
~gal-texter/Pen 8May2008I can't really call myself an old PKer... but i'll say hi again just the same.
How's everyone been?
As for me... Well, I'm still here in Iraq for about 100 more days... i can see the light at the end of this tunnel.

Anyways, I'll see you guys and gals around...

Hey, GM, I'm glad to have finally met you. I recently made
an announcement about your threads.
About your thread subtitle
I see some things have changed... - yes, the mod team's dead serious about these changes. We've slowed down a bit doing the forum makeover due to RL, plus we had to take care of other behind the scenes stuff.
But we are determined to make PK the safe haven that it is for our shippers and
respectful friends (who are non-shippers or ship R/H or D/H or H/G or whatever). There are many of them out there.

Stay safe in Iraq!

Welcome back to Portkey Sha'ul (aka GuardianMedic)! And back to civilian life too! I have a nephew that will depart for Iraq in less than two weeks. I'm pretty sure that his pockets will be full of "blessed crosses" because it seems that just about all of the relatives gave him one over the holidays. In case you are wondering, to give someone a small cross and have them carry it at all times, is telling them that you wish them to be safe. At least that is what it means in our family. (One of my brothers - a policeman in Los Angeles - carries a small cross on his person all the times.)
I found a poem, 'Cross In My Pocket", here is a link:
http://www.fathershands.com/cross_pocket/But back to you ...
I'm curious, since you were a medic in the Army, will you be employed in the medical field as a civilian? If so, what job will you do? If not, what are your plans?
Hope to see you on the forums often.

Hi!
I didn't talk to you much when you were more active around here but I definetely noticed you and a great poster! Welcome Backk!!! It's great to have a familiar face back, and safely! I hope that you manage to get back into some sort of routine, just take it easy and let yourself glide in, not everything needs a plunge *excuse the water references been working on an English essay all day and it was cropping up everywhere and my incoherency absolutley sleep depraved* I hope to see you around PK more often! Once again welcome back! It makes me smile just how diverse PK is!

Thank you all kindly!
As far as plans... I'm taking a bit of a break. Partly to get my paperwork for college in order, partly to just relax. I'm living in NYC right now and unfortunately the qualifications that I received from the army in the area of emergency health care are not good enough for NY. So, I'm looking into various other types of employment. I plan to go back to school spring 2010, get a double degree in biology and education and then go on to Medical School.
Anywho, thank you all for your kind "welcome back"s

It's nice to know my absence has been noticed.
See you around,
~GM~
