So I've finally decided to get out of my lurker status and post here for the first time in quite a while.

Just wanted to say hello to all! To those of you who I do not know, it's nice to meet you. smile.gif

Anyway, I'm liking PK's new makeover. I was beginning to feel as if PK had been abandoned, and it's nice to see that that is not so! smile.gif

Guess I'll get going now. *waves*

Welcome back Sabrina! I joined in July of 2005, so I'm not sure if our paths here on PK have ever crossed. But, I'm glad you have returned.

See you on the forums!
Accio Harry!
Ah, fellow Wonk (if memory serves). Welcome back, Sabrina!

Hi, Sabrina! I replied to your post here. Thanks again on behalf of the mod staff. smile.gif

I've always suspected that many oldbies lurk in PK. The stats favor it. smile.gif

No, it isn't. The admins and ex-mods still care; they've invested too much time, sweat and money into this site to stop caring completely. It's just that RL gets in the way plus many of them do work behind the scenes. biggrin.gif Besides, people do need to take a break -- I've taken mine and I will surely take another again next year. wink.gif

Btw, can you ask the other Wonks, perhaps Gems or Jennifer, where could I find the Wonky History project they were working on? I can link it to the desc for the new Wonky City forum I created. Yeah, that forum comes way too late, but I can't do anything about that as I didn't have the necessary tools then.

For now, I put links to my reminiscing in the last Wonky thread. Kinda like a draft to that Wonky History.

I understand, and I really do appreciate the work you and the rest of the mods have been doing here. smile.gif

We actually never started that project, I'm sad to say. But I am planning a chat for May 16, so I'll mention that to them. Who knows, maybe we'll get around to doing it.

Oh and would you like to join the chat? smile.gif

Probably! I don't know what's going on tomorrow, let alone weeks from now, but probably! tongue.gif

Hi Sue / Sundari! Why don't you make your own thread here? biggrin.gif It's for free, y'know. biggrin.gif

EDIT Apr30: Sue did open a thread thumbup.gif

Hi Sabby yeah it would be good to write that wonky history I was really keen for it and it never happened. Oh well we shall see. Bring it up at the chat. Looks like we might have a few more people there which is good (happy to be proved wrong about that).

Hmm..well if others are willing to help with the Wonky history thing, maybe we should start a thread for that here. But anyway, we'll just wait and see what the others think.

I'm so happy with how things are turning out right now. We might have a lively chat after all. smile.gif

Hi guys,

About that Wonky History project - IMHO, it's better not to pursue it, at least not in the form that you guys seem to want. No one had stayed in Wonky from start to finish, right? Hence, any "formal" historical record will surely leave out some important events. The index and primer oughta be history enough.

I've sensed in the last Wonky thread (well, from the glimpses that I had of it) that many of you sound extremely frustrated and sad at how Wonky as you'd known it had gone. Again, another humble opinion: methinks that's largely because many of you wanted to preserve the old ... methods of communicating with your Wonky pals. That's not realistic. It's like expecting to see your high school pals everyday when you've gone to different colleges. Or expecting your best friend to continue seeing movies with you anytime when she already has kids to look after.

Allow me to give this big sisterly advice: be content that there are other ways to touch base -- LJ, PK, IM, email, SMS, phone, etc. smile.gif Yes, it's sad that you can't talk to them everyday. But look at it this way: the fact that the talks / get-togethers now come rarely make them even more special. People do tend to take everyday things for granted. wink.gif

Not sure as I rarely feel comfy in chats w/ that many people; plus there's the generation gap -- not only between me & younger Wonks, but also between my age group and teens/young adults in general. wink.gif But I might drop by long enough to say hello, if I don't have work or RL errands on that day/time.

You're right, and I get a sense that if we do attempt this the way that we were going to, it wouldn't get finished. I would like to do something though..guess I'll have to think about that.

I'm so grateful right now that so many Wonks have come back to PK, at least for a little bit. I know things won't go back to how they used to with Wonky, but I'm thankful nonetheless. Thank you. smile.gif

Yeah that's true and it's probably the reason nothing has happened of it because we don't want to leave stuff out and know we will because we weren't there.

Anyways at least we can still get together and that's great.
