Is they anyone else out there unsatisfied with L/J? I mean, after everything that we saw between Snape and Lily, what happened? I'd really like to know more about James and how he "got" Lily, how they came to love eachother, etc..

That was one of my biggest piss offs - she managed to completely ignore that part. Grr.

you're probably right.
it's just... now there's this fantastic love story about Snape and his unrequited love for Lily, and yet somehow in the last year of school, Lily ended up with James, and I'd like to know more about their love story and their dynamic as well.

edit for my original post: "there" not "they"

Going further, did we ever find out what Lily and James did for a living?

Also, were we ever told why it was important that Harry had Lily's eyes? The best I can come up with is that it helped Snape be loyal to Harry while thinking about Lily instead of James.

But I'm with the rest of you. The only thing we've got to go on is Lupin and Sirius discussion about James deflating his head a little in his seventh year. That's it.
Miss Mady
I've been saying that Jo needs to elaborate (or even write) about the Marauders and their childhood/school life. The Marauders Era is my favorite, so anything would be good.

I wished she told us how James got Lily, hmph.

No we dont and it doesnt matter anyhow because the most imprortant family in the saga are the Wealsleys the Potters were only created because Rowling didnt want Ginny to marry her brother and making a incest marriage
Sigh
Ok joking aside I hate the fact that we dont learn anything about the Potters neither their home, this greatfathers home and not the ruins in Goddfric Hallows because I understand that they were in the run and were hiding and never got the impression that the place their lived was their real home.
I would have like too to learn finall the name of Harry Greatparents but well the Potters were like the Grangers insignificant to to the plot.

I'm in the minority. I was never a J/L fan in a sense that I thought they were romantic or cute. I just--well, thought of them as Harry's parents.

Here! Here!!! I can even imagine that the 'I-love-Ron' Hermione Jean would just conveniently forgets to retract her parents' memory charm....given that she knows just the theory and 'never do it'......

Her parents must gone "What????? What about that Harry boy you talked about so much????".....so....

Perhaps they are Harry parents but we still dont know how they come togehter and what James did to win Lily over. We still dont know what kind of carrer they were having. It would have been very nice to learn form them and to see something given to their son at his 17 th Birthday because Harry is a Potter and not a Weasley or is he a disguised weasley too ?

I really don't care how they got together. I just don't.

That's the thing, I'm basically the same way but I WANT to know more, I want to be a fan of them.

JKR needs to work on her romance skills all around... a little.

Basically I want J/L to be justified because right now I see more love between L/S.

Isn't it obvious why Lily took James? Because they argued just like Ron and Hermione! DUH!

Geez...way to miss the anvils boys and girls.

yeah, we definitely need more of that...
Black_Agnes
Actually, I thought that L/J was sort of like H/G...mostly off-page and not really interesting. Really all we get about James and Lily coming together is that James fancied her and Lily got really really mad at Severus. The deep love they had for each other is what was "perceived" by others and deeply longed for by Harry. We know that Harry has created an entire mythology about his parents; it's sort of like the child of divorce who just dreams and dreams that his folks will get back together. Lily loved Harry. James loved Harry. Together they made a family. I don't get the sense that Lily and James were soulmates or even best friends. They just had the hots for each other and got married and made a plain sort of life together. In the same way that L/J is a really conventional romance, so is H/G. And I'd go a step farther and say that Lily and Severus had the deeper relationship that Harry and Hermione have (had?).
Harry85
well, it actually make sense, you know. But see, Snape did love Lily...we see no romantic love neither from Hermione neither from Harry...we have clues, but never an admission like we have for Snape toward Lily...however, your theroy seems right. I did hope L/J was better than H/G...but maybe this is just how JK sees love...
blueangel
I'd be very interested to know how it all happened.

I remember having read somewhere, JKR was asked if she would write a prequel. She said that after having read book 7, we would not need a prequel.

Well, I'd still like one. Not only for J/L but for the whole context, the First War (kind of) and all surrounding it, the Marauders, and everything. Maybe a story that would cover the end of the Marauders' Hogwarts years, until the night when J/L were killed. That would be neat.
