Summary: James has just received a letter informing him about his parent’s death and no one can cheer him up or find him. Can Lily pull him out of this mood? (not really true to story)

James sat on the edge of the wall looking down at the ground many stories down. The lake below was black and churning violently telling that a storm was about to come. He let out a frustrated sigh before he hit the top of the wall he was sitting on. The piece of paper in his hand escaped from him and drifted out into the open air leaving James to watch as it wound a path to the water. He let out another loud sigh before turning his back to the view he had been watching. He took of his glasses to clean them as the rain started coming down steadily obscuring his view. Putting his glasses back on he put his head in his hands, letting out a cry.

“…not acting the same and he won’t tell me what’s wrong,” Sirius said sadly to the girl in front of him, a forlorn grimace on his face that seemed out of place. The normal cheerful common room seemed dark that day everyone talking in hushed whispers feeling the unnatural energy in the air.

The girl frowned with a thinking look on her face before responding, “Are you sure that he will not answer to you or is he just in a bad mood?” Sirius’s face flashed for a second with frustration.

“Look, Lily, I don’t know anything. Two days ago, he just holed himself up in our dorm and would talk. We tried to get him to eat and he would not do that either. We are pretty sure he isn’t sleeping either, so if you think you can talk to him, do it. Please for us, you, and most importantly you,” He looked like he was building up anger as he spoke but softened at the end before his eyes darted to his watch. “Sorry, I have to go.”

Lily sat down in defeat. She had just recently become friends with James and her feelings for him were getting to strong for her to control. Now she felt that a part of her was dieing seeing him suffer. She looked out the window that was being pelted with small rain drops. A crack of lightning roared out side the castle. That is when Lily decided, she needed to find James soon. Getting up she ran towards the exit.

“Wait,” her friend called, “Where are you going?”

Lily looked back smiling slightly, “To find James.”

Everyone present in the room stopped talking as Lily exited the room. Knowing looks were passed between Lily’s friends. Some one spoke out, “It’s about time she caved.” Dry laughter went through the common room, Remus was right.

---------------------------------------

The wind was picking up at the tower, whipping around James’ unmoving form and guiding the rain through the air. The once dry James was now soaking, who was not bothering to cast a spell to make him stay dry. The sky was a greenish color the tell tale that a worse storm could be forming. Lightning flashed as it’s echo boomed loudly in tandem. Suddenly James shivered and slid down from his spot on the wall.

He whispered to himself, “Lord, take me now.” The sky turned black at the exact same moment and a lightning bolt flared right beside him. James laughed a little at this before mumbling, “I know, I know. Its not right for me to think like that.” Almost like a response a roar from new lightning turning the sky back green. He made his to another part of the wall. The rain came down harder as he attempted to get on top of the slick wall.

“James,” a voice whispered, barely audible to him through the wind. He continued to try to get on the wall. “James, don’t do it James please,” the voice again he looked side to side, the rain was coming down so hard he couldn’t see anything.

“Do what?” He asked with a harsh edge to his voice that had never been there.

“Oh, James,“ the voice sounded closer and like who ever was talking was sad ,”I’m sorry I made you mad.”

James almost growled with frustration, “You didn’t do anything, I just can’t-” He was cut of when a figure latched on to him enveloping him in a hug. He looked down and through his rain specked glasses made out a form of a girl with red hair. “Lily,“ even through his wet clothes he could feel her tears on him. He tried to step back away from her touch but she held tight.

“James, I thought you were going to jump,” she was sobbing as she spoke, “I heard you talk, I could not let you go.”

James laughed sourly, “No one would miss me that much even if I was going to I have nothing left.” He was still trying to escape her grip with no prevail.

“That’s not true,” she snapped sharply back at him, looking up at his face, “Sirius, Remus, Peter, your parents-”

“You don’t know anything, Lily!” She finally let go of him shocked that he yelled at her, “ Do you even know why I came up here? Do you even care or did Sirius bribe you to get information out of me?”

Lily stood still not wanting to look at James as he went on, “I….I just…” She couldn’t finish, all the words she wanted to say were stuck in her throat. At that moment she made the mistake of looking at him.

“You just what? Thought you could make fun of me when I told you? Lily, I thought you actually cared about me now!” His eyes were flaring with rage all his pent up anger was being released on her.

“James! Shut up! I don’t know what you went through but I don’t like it, it scares me to see you this way,” Lily was looking at the ground as she spoke getting softer and softer, “but I want to help. I don’t want you to hurt anymore.”

James went rigid, his body was suddenly cold from the rain he didn’t know what to say to her but he didn’t have to. He cleared the distance between them and kissed her on the mouth quickly. After he did he stood there wide eyed looking at her as she did the same as the rain poured even harder now on them.

“Lily, I didn’t mean-” but he didn’t get to finish as Lily pulled him into another kiss. She smirked at him.

“But I did,” she said lightly looking in his eyes, “I really like you James and I just want to help you.”

James stared at her and smiled softly, “Thank-you, Lily. I think I can deal with it with you here now, listening.” Lily then sat down pulling James with her.

He smiled sadly at her before saying, “Get ready for a long story.”

--------------------Three Hours Later-------------------

Sirius had come back down to the common room and was pacing in front of the fire while six other very annoyed Gryffindors watched him. “I’m sure that James is okay Sirius,” said the girl who had propped her head up with her hand, “And I bet Lily is too if you care.” She mumbled the last part before snorting alittle.

Sirius snapped his head towards her, “Easy for you to say, Leslie.” Everyone rolled there eyes knowing what was about to happen.

“Well Sirius if you didn’t have that pol-,” Leslie stopped when she heard some one come in.

“Hey, guys. What are you doing down here…looking annoyed,” they all turned around to see Lily and James holding hands in the middle of the portrait entrance.

Sirius opened his mouth to say something stupid but was cut of when Peter said, “Waiting for you two.” All eyes were on the two of them holding hands, soaked.

“You look happy, Prongs. You finally ready to join the living again?” Sirius said with a laugh in his voice. Lily’s face flushed and James just laughed softly at the comment.

“Yeah, just needed someone to knock some sense into me,” James said looking at Lily who blushed even more.

That is when everyone heard Leslie shout, “Oh yeah! Sirius you owe me 5 galleons!”

“What, no I don’t,” Sirius replied mad knowing that he did owe her that much.

“I won our little bet so I now…” Lily and James stopped paying attention to them and James whispered in Lily’s ear, “Want to go eat?” she smiled up at him nodding before they turned and left the room.

“James, tell her I don’t owe her-Hey! Where did they go?” That’s when everyone started laughing at him.
