I don't have the books with me, becoz in my country they're expensive so I usually borrow them
could any of you post here quotes in the books showing hermione make harry laughing and smiling? and harry make hermione the same way?
kinda bother me if opposite shippers saying harry/hermione is a bit boring
Dragoncateliz
Don't worry--I'm answering!

This thread is such a good idea, because their lack of 'fun' together is what a lot of herons go on about when they say our ship's uninteresting.

Sadly though, I don't have my books either (I leant them all to my sister to read, who's never ever read or watched anything HP blush.gif in hopes I could get her converted)...

So--okay I have some parts without quotes (I can get them when I see my sister later):
HBP first (because it's our weakest link) would be the scene where Harry and Hermione are joking about Pince and Filch. Another would be the scene where they talk about Hermione hexing McCormac (that's his name right--I've only read HBP once...) You know for a book that supposedly sunk HBP everything that the herons said was wrong with our ship, humor especially, got fixed in their 'bible.'

Harry and Hermione are also really cute and happy when they get norbert successfully rescued and sent off into the wild--Hermione even does a 'jig.' So stay tuned--I promise I will have quotes!

This thread could easily turn out to be one of those where all HP books got retold. Does anyone complain though? No. smile.gif

I don't have the books with me either, but i agree that Harry and Hermione's interactions are way more serious and doesn't hold much time for nonsensical humour (eg. dungbombs or whatever that Ron was having fun with). But, and a big 'BUT' this is, they make eachother happy. For example,

First and foremost, the first time Hermione repairs his glasses. Noone could deny that Harry's happiness and triumph in each instance. And as for Harry making Hermione happy, please remember, at Slughorn's party Harry praising Hermione made her tremendously happy. I don't remember Hermione being that beaming.

So many instances are rushing into my mind, i'm having a hard time to organize them. I'm sure people more experienced with the books could make a list for each and every book. People like Accio! Harry for instance.

Last, but not least, i want to underline that making someone laugh and making someone happy are different things. While you laugh at a joke for days at most, a gift or a favour from a friend is hardly forgotten. Let's keep that in mind when people tell you that Harry and Hermione don't have fun.

Who can forget the scene where Hermione practically shrieks with joy when she sees Harry holding the (Ron's) Prefect Badge?! She assumed Harry had been made Prefect and was clearly disappointed that he wasn't.

Hermione was being a little coy when she told Harry that he was quite fanciable! I mean, the whole conversation did make Ron feel a bit uncomfortable. I'm also sure that this made Harry feel all warm and fuzzy and it was all because of Hermione telling him that he was fanciable. And, this from HBP - the Chocolate's bible!
Dragoncateliz
If Ginny/Harry's the final ship honestly why was there so much flirting between Harry and Hermione? There's never been that much in any other book... blush.gif

And maybe they don't always have to make each other happy, but they can always make each other feel better. All those times Harry sees that Hermione alone recognizes what he's feeling, you know when his scar hurts, when he's upset about cho, even though it's not said--those moments have to make Harry feel better. Harry's whole child hood was alone, just her recognizing and being a part of those moments he goes through makes him feel better.

On another note--what about Hermione being the only one to get Harry out of that dark room round' Christmas in OoTP. It wasn't Ginny, and it wasn't Sirius that dragged him away and got some sandwiches sent up (at least I think they were sandwiches!); maybe Harry wasn't singing to the high heavens but no one else could've gotten him out of that. No one else could've made him feel OK enough to leave his solitude.

Sometimes Hermione makes Harry happy when she's not even there. I'm thinking of the scene in PoA when she sends him the Broomstick Servicing Kit.

QUOTE
Harry laughed again as he put Hermione’s letter aside and picked
up her present. It was very heavy. Knowing Hermione, he was
sure it would be a large book full of very difficult spells – but it
wasn’t. His heart gave a huge bound as he ripped back the paper
and saw a sleek black leather case with silver words stamped
across it: Broomstick Servicing Kit.

‘Wow, Hermione!’ Harry whispered, unzipping the case to look inside.

and this from OotP:

QUOTE
-Only the house-elf's attitude of creeping servility looked convincing. With a grin at the thought of what Hermione would say if she could see the statue of the elf, Harry turned his money bag upside down and emptied not just ten Galleons, but the whole contents into the pool at the statues' feet.

Those are just two I can think of.

oh thank you, oh my goossh yes, those scene ... how I can forget?!
*I blame my stupid brain!*
I love that library scene in hbp, the hexing McCormac ... is it the one with harry (with smirk on his face) teasing hermione "I thought prefect not allowed break the rule"?
and oh yeah the norbert rescued biggrin.gif
yup, agree ... harry/hermy make each other feel better, and your examples from the book showing that perfectly

again I blame my lazy sense of thinking ...
hermione's repairs harry's glasses is sweet thing to do
and awww harry praising to hermione means the world to her
hermione's reaction in that scene really cute

your statement give something deep to think about: laugh at jokes and a favour from a friend

wow yeah hermione so want to be with harry all the time as prefects but so sad it's ron become her partner prefect ...
hahaha I really love harry's reaction being warm (or I remember JKR described harry felt HOT) eventhough it's cold outside

Also don't forget Harry's christmas present to Hermione in Ootp

"Thanks for the book Harry!" she said happily "I've been wanting that New Theory of Numerology for ages!"
Ootp pg. 444 British Edition

This shows that Harry pays attention to what Hermione says and buys her something which he knows she's going to like and is going to make her happy biggrin.gif

Let's get something straight. It's important for Harry, hermy being happy wub.gif and about what dragoncateliz said; hermy is the ONLY one who got Harry out of that room he was hiding and HERMY was the ONLY one Harry opened the door to. I mean he just opened the door wtihout hasitation when he heard HERMY's voice whistling.gif anyway we have a lot of proof in the first five books but I NEED some in HBP ohmy.gif I mean everytime I TRY to read the book I always find the same things I've already found. Please find some quotes that scream H/Hr:luv: and some other parts that show us they make eachother happy and that they have fun when they're in eachother's company wub.gif

Well said, everyone.

And not only do Harry and Hermione make each other happy when they're together; they also make each other happy even if they're apart! (Well, for Harry's case, at least; we don't get to witness Hermione's perspective of things, do we? Only Harry's...)

How about in HBP where they're in the library and Hermione's really upset about Ron (yirk), and Harry cheers her up by talking about Filch and Madam Pince's secret romance? I loved that scene. Seems as if they're having a lot of fun !!

from HBP chapter 5, An Excess of Phlegm, page 83

As Harry sat down, a furry ginger cat with a squashed face jumped onto his knees and settled there, purring.
"So Hermione's here?" he asked HAPPILY as he tickled Crookshanks behind the ears.

that one always gets me smiling... thumbup.gif

That all depends on how DH turns out, doesn't it?
HBP is an interesting book because it can be either horrible or brilliant depending on DH!!!

here's hoping it's the latter! thumbsup.gif

and hey! i found another one!

Still chapter 5, page 103

"Oh, come off it," said Ron... "Yep-- nine 'outstandings' and one 'exceeds expectations... You're actually disappointed aren't you?"
Hermione shook her head, but Harry just laughed.

is it me or does somebody think that somebody's cute? thumbsup.gif wub.gif

There's really a lot of things to love in this book. My favorite will always be PoA, but I think the amount of HHr moments in HBP was greatly overshadowed by the Jennisms. Harry and Hermione's interactions in this book are some of the best we've seen. In PoA and OotP, they were all business, but here in HBP, they've reached some sort of comfort-level that's marred only by those pesky Weasleys distracting them.

I agree, I really thought something was going to happen between them but the Weasley interruption device was on in full force in HBP.

I love the Crookshanks scene as well. After reading His Dark Materials and learning about the daemon (touching someone's daemon is a very intimate gesture), I always like to think that Crookshanks is Hermione's daemon wink.gif.

We never see Ron petting Crookshanks, do we? whistling.gif

but I also appreciate the discussion here heart.gif

Dragoncateliz
just her being there makes Harry happy--

remember after Hermione was petrified and hermione running towards him screaming 'you solved it, you solved it,' was one of the happiest memories of the night for him...

and just him showing up at grimmuald place in OoTP made Hermione about as happy as Hermione ever gets...

which actually is pretty happy! thumbup.gif

yeah those moments are proof they make each other happy

One of my favourite moments of HBP:

"why don't I just go over there and punch him in the face?" (Percy)

"let me it might make me feel better!"

harry laughed.

(After Dumbledore's funeral)

It was something along those lines, (dont have the books with me) please correct me if im wrong.

That's a moment involving Ron and Hermione, actually.

QUOTE
Ron seemed to struggle with himself for a moment, then he said loudly to Hermione, 'Look, let me go back and hit Percy!'
'No,' she said firmly, grabbing his arm.
'It'll make me feel better!'
Harry laughed. Even Hermione grinned a little, though her smile faded as she looked up at the castle.

Following right after that, here is this though.

QUOTE
'I can't bear the idea that we might never come back.' she said softly. 'How can Hogwarts close?'
'Maybe it won't,' said Ron. 'We're not in any more danger here than we are at home, are we? Everywhere's the same now. I'd even say Hogwarts is safer, there are more wizards inside to defend the place. What d'you reckon, Harry?'
'I'm not coming back even if it does reopen,' said Harry.
Ron gaped at him, but Hermione said sadly, 'I knew you were going to say that.

Pretty self explanatory, i guess.

I feel that out of all the books Harry and Hermione have the most sort of PERSONAL connection in HBP as they talked about a lot of things that are unrelated serious buisness.

my favorites are

-Romilda Vane and the Love Potion
-Madame Pince and Filch
-Cufunding anyone?

I think in this book Harry starts to see her as an individual rather than his smart know-it-all best friend.

Exactly!! Alot of H/Hr have noticed that they seem to be...more flirtatious towards each other in this book. And when I think about what all went on in HBP, it makes sense to me too. R/Hr shippers claim how R/Hr argue and have sexual tension, and in HBP we actually see H/Hr argue alot of the book about his potions book...but we are delusional...I mean it's "obviously" not sexual tension between H/HR rolleyes.gif whistling.gif
Nora
I thought H/Hr had a scene in OotP that already established that there was sexual tension:

The fight before they go off to save Sirius. I mean, they yell at the top of their lungs, but continue stepping closer and closer to each oother. I thought that was very sexy. As opposed to certain other couples who stand 10 feet apart.

That story sounds sooo awesome! Do you remember what it's called...yes I know it's completly off topic but it just sounds so good! tongue.gif

I seriously want to see loads, okay maybe not loads, but some HHR arguing in book 7. How can R/Hr ever say they have sexual tension when hello--do any of the herons read HHr's arguing sessions? I loved that part in OoTP when Harry recognizes her coming with him as a sign of solidarity and loyalty! Does that count as a moment--because it comforted him in those brief seconds...

by the way, why is Harry always touching/holding Hermione in the movies even more so than he does in the books?

Aww...that moment is so cute! tongue.gif I know they crave each other's approval, especially Harry of Hermione's. Examples:

CoS: When Harry didn't know which was the better part about the entire ordeal, that they had a part or that Hermione came running up to him screaming "You solved it! You solved it!"

OotP: The house elves fountain ordeal, the OWL's

GoF: He wants her approval for him to be content in his own mind. Almost as if if Hermione didn't believe him, he would go insane.

HBP: Another GoF incident in HBP with the whole Draco thing.

I can't think of any more right now, but I'll think on it. biggrin.gif

Yeah they do very much. Love the quotes you used. Harry likes to be praised by Hermione, a lot. Like in HBP:

It was so adorable that he went red. I almost felt pity for Ron.
