Book Three:

"Oh, Harry... you'll have to be really, really careful."

Book Four:

"Oh Harry, you aren't going to pay attention to anything that old fraud says?"

"Oh Harry, isn't it obvious?" Hermione said despairingly. "He's jealous!"

"Oh Harry, this is so stupid -"


Book Five:

"Oh, Harry, it's you...-"

"Oh, Harry - I'm sorry - no, of course I don't - that was a really stupid thing to say."

"Oh, Harry" she said sadly.

"Oh, Harry, don't you see?" Hermione breathed.

"Oh, Harry, you didn't!" she said.


Book Six:

"Oh well, never mind that now!" said Hermione hastily. "Harry, oh, Harry..."

"Oh, Harry..." She stared at him, then whispered, "Are you scared?"

"Did you really tell him I'm the best in the year? Oh, Harry!"

"Oh, Harry... not that again..." "Come on, why not?" demanded Harry.

Wow! That nearly beats her "Honesty!" exclamation. I never realized just how much she says, "Oh, Harry..."

Agreed! When put together like that, she really did say a lot of "Oh, Harry..."

How did that list miss the most famous "oh Harry" of them all?

The one during the "books and cleverness" speech in PS/SS.

God, that list just made me all warm and fuzzy inside...

I'm sure JK has found a way to expand that list in book 7.... in whatever context.

LOL! I've actually noticed the unusual number of times Hermione says that and I'm glad someone else saw it too. And I'm positive there's more "Oh, Harry!" moments in the books- we just need someone with ebooks to look them up.

I love it! It's always Harry this and Harry that. Her every breath is talking about something involving Harry, or Harry himself.

Yet never anything about Ron, except how he is childish or an insult flung his way.

Strange....people call US delusional.

"Honestly!" is for Ron. And it conveys mild to extreme impatience.

"Oh, Harry!" is definitely HHr.

You can just imagine what kind of "fun" NC-17 fanfiction writers like me have using that phrase when we're writing Hermione.

I can definitely imagine.
Even if the fanfiction is not NC-17, "Oh, Harry!" certainly has a softness in its tone.. definitely suits H/Hr.

Haha just what i was thinking.. But anyways yeah I do agree that Hermione says a lot of "Oh Harry"s..

Well, there is in avatar out there somewhere (I forget whose, now) that says something along the lines of "H/Hr - because Hermione already has six years of practice yelling 'Oh Harry!'"

If anyone reads any of my fanfics they'll find Hermione saying 'oh, harry' all the time. Sometimes i stop myself from writing it cos i use it so much, especially in delicate scenes between her and Harry

Nothing delicate about the way I write them in those scenes.

Hermione does say "Oh Harry!" a lot...(kinda of over-dramtic coming from someone like Hermione).

Just curious though...does Harry ever say "Oh Hermione" or does Hermione ever say "Oh Ron".

Hermione has definitely said "Oh Ron" a couple of times, usually when she's emotional. I think she said it when he apologized to her and offered to help with Buckbeak's case in PoA?

Harry has never said "Oh Hermione" to my knowledge (nor has Ron). IMO, saying "Oh, NAME" is more of a feminine expression.

Reminds me of Laura Petrie's "Oh Raaahb" on "The D*ck Van Dyke Show" reruns from the '60s.

I am about to start re reading the series to get ready for DH. I am starting sorcerers stone tonight. I think I'll start making a little list of the "Oh Harry" syndrome that Hermione seems to have.

Perhaps in DH Harry will have a cure for her

She's really racking up the "Oh, Harry" 's, isn't she? I do agree, it's like the HMS Harmony catchphrase. Can't wait to see how many are in DH! Only a little over two months to go!

I can not believe I haven't realized that Hermione said 'Oh Harry" so much until I went on this thread. I've nitpicked in every other aspect in the books, so I don't know how I missed it.

But now that I've seen this thread it's definetely brightened my day.

My friend laughed and I think had an epiphany when I told her about this thread this afternoon. It rocked.

That would be awesome! Though, Giny would probably take it very out of context, considering Ginny's never followed them on any of their pursuits, except DoM.

Maybe thats why Jenny tranferred the one and only hex she knows to that thing that punched Hermione in the beginning of HBP. I bet Jenny left booby traps all over the house just trying to catch Hermione off guard. Booby trap...booby trap... why does that phrase fit Ginny so perfectly?

Anybody would take it out of context. If you hear anyone in their sleep Oh-ing someone else's name, wouldn't you think it was something?

You just gave me a really bad mental image. The image that came to mind was of somebody dreaming about getting a gift and saying something like "Oh, Grandma!"

I noticed that when Hermione says, "Oh, Ron," she's always exasperated. It's never, "Oh, Ron! Do be careful!" It's always along the lines of, "Oh, Ron, you have the emotional range of a teaspoon." She's usually insulting (oh, sorry, that's the mark of twu wuv) or just fed up.

OMG! Stop it you are torturring me! I cant get an image out of my mind, I'm scarred for life now thanks alot. Its really hilarious!

When I went to school camp this year, one of my friends in the other room apparently went "uhhh, uhh!" in her sleep while she was snoring glad I wasn't there.

That must have been awkward for her bunkmates

Just reading all these sentences makes me feel as if it's a story in itself. It starts with Hermione being concerned about Harry but not admitting it yet (Dumbledore was so worried!). Then eventually she doesn't hide her concern anymore. And then it was this...

Man..the amount of times she says "oh harry..."! Has anyone really sat down and counted them? From the entire series? Or have you all done that already? I wouldn't be surprised. I'm pretty curious myself.
