Hey everyone

I was just wondering what's the most extreme thing you've ever done to represent or defend
Harmony? hehe:P
Personally, The last thing I remember doing to defend Harmony was making a bet with my friend, who is a Heron, that H/Hr will end up together [this is post HBP] at the end of the series

. We even made a contract haha! [But there are certain terms for it to remain valid such as; none of the trio can die, if Hermione ends up with another guy such as Krum, etc hehe] We had it computerized, then we signed it with our signatures, even our witnesses' signatures! lol

The loser of the bet has to give the winner a copy of 5th Movie on DvD [Ootp] haha:P
So yeah, I just wanted to put that out there

So, what are you're extreme acts to defend our ship? Please share!

lets see, I have gotten into an argument with my best friends older sister at my best friends sweet sixteen. We didn't get loud and disrupt the party or anything, but it was a heated debate.
However, one time on gaia, someone started a link where they were trashing one of my favorite actresses/singers, so I went in and started defending her. Then they started getting mean toward me, so I got mean back, then, I called one of my best friends and told him if he didn't get in there and help me that I would make him pay, so he came in and started defending me and helping with my cause. Then these other two people that I didn't know came in, and even though I later found out they didn't particularly care for her, they took our side and were helping us just cuz they though what the other people were doing was wrong, so between the for of us, we drove all the other people away and turned it into a different topic. Anyway, the reason I mentioned this is because I would do the exact same thing to defend H/Hr, except that I probably wouldn't be as nice as I was in that other link. I LOVE MY HARMONY!!!!!!

I guess I'm not very extreme... I'm such a laid back person.
I don't think I've done anything very extreme to defend the ship. I write H+Hr stories and that's about it. I know it's not much, but at the very least, I write LONG stories, so there.

Ok, what I did was in April...I think. At my best guy-friends 18th birthday party, somebody brought up the topic of Harry Potter. Of couse, I had to put my two cents in about Harmony when I discovered that every single person there was a heron. We got into a heated argument about it and then I playfully lunged at the group of about 4 people. We were kicking and screaming on the floor for a good 5 minutes, having a blast. Yeah, I defended Harmony but still had some fun doing it. Nothing much more violent than that though.

I don't really do anything extreme. I may mention it and then when they say, "Really? Why don't you like Ron and Hermione together," I explain my reasons. I did get my aunt and maybe one of my friends to agree with me though. And might I add that the shirt is very awesome.

I broke up with my boyfriend over a Harry Potter shipper argument. Granted we had a few problems before this, but that last fight broke the camels back.
He liked the Hr/R ship because he said they fought like an old married couple and he though it was romantic.
I told him that they fought like an old married couple that should have gotten a divorce along time ago.
Yeah, I don't miss my ex-boyfriend at all.

Heron's always use "the interview" as part of their defense. grrr. well i ended up yellin at her n then we started ignorin each other haha!! yeh dats all lol

Does throwing your HBP book at your sister count? (I aimed to miss, don't worry!)
She basically told me I was being stupid to think that H/Hr was going to happen after I read HBP the first time (we read it both in one day) and I was already in a tetchy mood and threw the book.
I think that really is the most extreme thing I've done....

I defended Harmony
ad nauseum on a primarily Heron site! (Yeah, I know I shouldn't bother with them, but you could say I'm a glutton for punishment!)
Guess what? I was reprimanded big time and came close to being asked to leave. The only reason, I wasn't kicked off was because I didn't completely break the rules, nor did I use profanity or such. So, I continue to defend H/Hr
ad nauseum on that site. They will have to kick me off in order for me not to continue defending Harmony!
H/Hr forever!

I found out that a girl that I had recently became friends was a big Harry Potter fan. We talked about it for about 5 hours one day. The next day, when I saw her, I walked up to her and said "I have a question for you that our friendship teeters on. In the end, who should Harry wind up with?" She said "Hermione, of course."
I LOVE that girl!!! Mandy, you rock!
I also made a Harmony t-shirt! It's a tight white tee that says "DELUSIONAL" on the front in big silver glitter letters (iron-on) and I also ironed on some fake crystals. Sounds tacky, but it's really cute. Maybe I'll take a pic of it and link it here. I'm wearing it to the OoTP premiere in my city. I'll definitely know who the real HP fans are cause they'll be the only ones who understand my shirt, LOL!

Errr, nothing?
HA! How pathetic too; everyone else made t-shirts or threw books at their sisters (and missed

), but I've really done nothing
extreme.
I've just gotten into long arguments and debates with Herons/Choco's, etc. on other Harry Potter websites, but I really haven't done that since even before HBP came out. So nothing really.
Unless ranting irately to my brother about how ridiculous the romances in HBP were and about how HMS Harmony is, IMO, being screwed over left and right, counts. I don't think that does, though.

The most I have done was taking up a challenge from one of my friends who ships R/Hr, in which she thought that there was little to no evidence for H/Hr. So, I went through all the books pulling out quotes that supported H/Hr, explained those that were not as obvious, and put in some of the theories that I had come up with. I have about 152 quotes from all the books that support H/Hr, and I also have a few quotes that support N/G and R/LL and a handful of theories. That is about as extreme as I have done.

I haven't really done anything too extreme, though my mom is amazed my best friend and I still stay friends (she's a R/Hr shipper). We've had massive debates about each ship, and even have a bet on it. Not big, but it's still fun anyway.

Oh! Inspired by Accio Harry!, I have an anecdote (sp?) to share:
Freshmen year in high school, I had checked out the audiobook of OotP to pass the time during study hall. My desk was right next to the teachers, and a friend and I were having a discussion about Harry Potter (not shipping, just a conversation in general), and my teacher sees that I have the audiobook. I was just telling my friend about how most people had started shipping R/Hr (or at least, the people I knew), and my study hall teacher says "Oh, it doesn't matter, everyone knows that Harry and Hermione will end up together in the end." I wanted to hug her! I didn't, because that would have looked weired, but it was such an awesome Harmony moment

Do you mean you've actually found Neville/Ginny evidence other than:
1) her contradicting his statement "I'm nobody" when he first met Luna, and
2) his attempt to stop the Inquisitorial Squad from dragging her off to Umbridge's office?
Those are the only two pieces of evidence
I've ever found for this ship: I've been wondering where the rest of it was, not to mention where all the N/G essays were. If you have thoughts of writing such an essay, by all means go for it!

I think those are the ones I have, but the thing is that when I was going through the books I was only looking for H/Hr evidence. I had actually started this project with a neutral standpoint having no particular leaning, but as I continued to dig deeper I found myself leaning more and more towards H/Hr. I think I have a couple of theories for N/G, some may be derived from those two quotes, but over I do not have much for that ship.

Well, at first, my friend thought I was wasting my time. After a while, she started to warm up to the idea. I believe that it wasn’t until I had reached GoF and showing her quotes from that that she started to say that H/Hr was possible. Right now she believes it is possible and would be alright with H/Hr, but she would rather have R/Hr as of now. She really doesn’t like my R/LL or my N/G theories and quotes, but she still believes them to have some standing.

I've been named as a weirdo in my house because I still continually yell and argue at my computer, ask everyone whom I'm related to who they think Harry should end up with (asked my mom this; she said Hermione, because the hero always gets the girl. Whatever.................. she can't see the intense attraction between them).
As well as argued with my best guy friend, whom is a somwhat of a Heron (he thinks RHr works, cause they compliment eachother

"Well I wouldn't actually call what I did extreme but it was by far one of the stupidest things I've ever did. Last year for my birth day I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with a few of my friends. So about half way through the movie (spoiler alert) after Harry comes out the lake during the 2nd task, right when Hermione comes over to Harry congratulating him and gives him a kiss on the head, I jump from my seat and scream in the middle of the theater "Harmony forever, revenge of the Harry Hermione Shippers!" Everyone in the entire theater turns and looks at me like I'm a total nutter, and when I sit down my friends curse me out and tell me their never coming to a Harry Potter movie with me again. So umm yeah, I'm going to be viewing the next few movies alone, but I said what I believed so hey.

Hmmm... well with me I'm not too much of an extremist... if you know what I mean. I like to slowly enter a person's shipping radar and hack away at what they believe one by one, until finally they're completely stripped of their old ideas and then I BOMBARD- I mean, gently point out a few things for Harmony and then I have converts! The key is not attacking the other shipper, no it's agreeing with them that you actually value their opinion and slowly changing it over time...
hehe! I've been working on a bunch of R/Hr shippers where I am, who were completely bombed out by HBP... I've gotten most of them to convert...

Oh I was a R/Hr shipper that was bombed out by HBP. I thought R/Hr would finally get past their bicker-bicker relationship and star appreciating each other more. And then when the FINALLY did, nothing happened. They just stayed friends... nothing else...
Talk about a let down for a R/Hr shipper
Neither helped the other character to grow, as I've posted before, and as is the case with most bickering couples, they help each other grow and learn. Most bickering couples that I've read, in fact every bickering couple I've read have never argued over little things that don't matter. I had the weirdest dream last night.
In it, Harry and Ginny were lounging around and having a great time ...talking. I was so shocked I realized then that I was dreaming. Hermione walks in, sees the two of them having a great time laughing about something together and walks out in tears. Harry sees Hermione leave and runs after her ...leaving poor, defenseless, wandless, Bat-Bogey-hex-less Ginny alone in the room with me. I then proceed to slap Ginny senseless while Harry comforts Hermione somewhere in Harmonyland.

)
You'll find it funny, but I now seriously consider that the most extreme thing I've done for Harmony. I've never slapped anyone before - let alone a fictional character - and I doubt I'll do that again. But dang, that *felt* good!
P.S. - That's awesome Salamon2.

I'm re-reading the books now and I'm analyzing all the Ron and Hermione moments. I have to admit, there are several cute ones (eating ice cream together, the friendly teasing ...their obvious mutual concern for Harry's wellbeing ^.^ ). I find that Harry and Hermione have a more positive and healthy relationship and I'm glad you discovered Harmony. It's cool to have you here at Portkey sharing and discussing your many great ideas.

Awww... jeez

Thanks Arm, Maria, hexon, and Ayaka.
A R/Hr shipper shouldn't be dancing in the aisle in my opinion. They are not developed as the rest of the bickering couples from literature have.
Compare them to Laurie/Curly (from Oklahoma), Hawkeye/Cora (from The Last of the Mohicans), Mary/Colin (from The Secret Garden), and Elizabeth/Darcy (from Pride and Prejudice), and Ron/Hermione just falls lackluster to all of them.
In all of those books (Oklahoma is based off a book), the bickering couple argue over important things, and grow and learn the other person's point of view.
Then you have the similarities between the Goodbye to Hermione when Harry's going off to the Cave with Dumbledore, to the Goodbye Hawkeye gives to Cora under the waterfall. The return hug when Harry returns is quite similar to the return hug of Laurie and Curly. Also the playful flirting scene where Harry mentions McClaggan reminds me of the interaction between all the couples all too well.
Then you have the fact that Hermione sacrifices a lot for Harry, and in all the bickering couples both sides sacrifice what they own and have and treasure, just to ensure the other person's happiness.
Curly basically gives up everything he owns, his saddle, his horse, and his gun, for Laurie.
R/Hr have all the appearance of the arguing couple but no... ah what's the word... ah yes: substance!

yeah, I agree salamon2.
I was a R/Hr shipper, but jumped ship after I read Ootp.
There just wasn't enough in that relationship to keep my interest going, like you said, not enough substance.
I think that is probably because we see things from Harry's point of view. I'm sure if the book focused on Ron, I would be a R/Hr shipper, but it doesn't. So I only see what Harry sees, and it is hard to invest in something like that.
I think HBP pushed H/Hr up there even further. I would still be happily shipping without doubts if the IoD hadn't come out. Now I have my doubts, but I'm not that worried.

Yes, I feel the same way. HBP is actually a H/Hr friendly book. And I'm saying that UNdelusionally.
The IoD definately gives me doubt, despite my analysis of it and all..... So now I think we have about a 50 percent chance....
The important thing to remember is that JKR is not a perfect writer. Just because H/Hr are the RIGHT SHIP, most mature and developed, doesn't mean she will accordingly put them together. She could just be bad at romance writing eh? Maybe, maybe not.
Immediately after I read HBP, I was a bit sick from the Harry/Ginny scenes, but I was positive about H/Hr in book 7. Then after I read the interview of doom, I was SURE that we had no chance anymore. Then I took a deep breath, calmed down, and wrote my analysis of it to show that we're definately not OVER. So now... I'm at a midway point. I think we have a 50% chance.
Ah sorry lol, why should this whole board have to listen to me spout off about my feelings? *shuts up*

My best friend (who ships Ron/Hermione) and did the same thing before OotP book came and than contiued it to HBP, It's going to apply to book 7 too!! The major rule we have is no in your face bragging!! I
Accio Harry!

I thought R/Hr would finally get past their bicker-bicker relationship and star appreciating each other more.

Yep, he saved all of the emotional growth/appreciation for Luna!

Well I made a t-shirt but, and it's probably a tribute to how much time I spend on Portkey, I don't consider that to be particularly extreme.
One thing I did do...
The only person I know that's even as remotly obsessed with HP as I am is, wouldn't you know it, a R/Hr shipper... she thinks they're cute...
Anyway she's been single for a long time (I wonder why) and she got together with this guy... we were at a party and I was a bit pissed... so I took her aside and asked her "I just want to know... do you bicker?" she looked at me like I was mad (again I wonder why) "No... why?" I looked at her and smirked "I thought you were into that." I said innocently. "Why?" she asked still looking at me like I was crazy, "Well you like R/Hr right" she looked like she understood then and she said "Yeah but it's a bit early for that" I laughed (as I said I was a bit pissed) "But R/Hr aren't even together yet" she didn't know how to respond then and just went "Oh well, yeah..." and then I leaned in and whispered "I'm a Harry Hermione shipper" she just looked stunned and I walked away....
It was hilarious but I'm sure she thinks I'm mad now!
Anyway after reading your anecdotes I felt free to share my moment of madness.
