I was thinking earlier on today about the names of our ship. First (I think) there was HMS Pumpkin Pie started with a fan fic. Then there is the most common ship the one we all have come to know and love as HMS Harmony - the mother ship, if you will.

Pumpkin Pie to me is like the humorous side of the ship that we think of these two characters together and go "AWWWWW"

Harmony is two things it is Harry and Hermione's relationship in a nutshell, Harmonious, and it is a combination of their names.

After HBP and the IOD I think that there is now a third piece to the entire ship. Morale is battered, because of events taken place and things said. I think that we should add a third ship to our fleet. HMS Hope to help raise spirits. It will represent another side of the ship, one that proves that we will not be beaten down and told who we should ship for or more imortant how we should read the books.

For all of you who still believe in our favorite couple I invite you to come and set up a bunk on HMS Hope and help me sail this ship. Please my fellow harmonians, because without hope we will surely be lost.

let me hear your thoughts and spread the word.

I'll gladly join your ship. After HBP i was feeling really down about H/hr not happening. But as I re-read the books again and again I realised that there were just too many clues. I knew I'm not the kind of person to blindly start shipping a romance because I like them. I need cannon evidence. harry and Hermione had this all the way through even in HBP. So after several months of staying away from Portkey I finally came back only a few days ago. I was pleasently surprised at the amount of new people on here even after HBP. It's great to see we havn't given up. I know for one that H/hr will happen in the 7th book. So like I said I'll support the HMS Hope quite happily!!

Count me in too! I'll gladly board any ship that has H/Hr shippers that are still 100% for H/Hr happening in the final book.

Count me in as well. I think adding HMS Hope to our fleet is a great idea, as it symbolises what so may of us have in relation to the seventh book. I for one will never give up on H/Hr no matter what happens.

Nah our ship won't sink. Sure it's got a few canon holes but we're still sailing. I'm getting really excited for the 7th book because I'm just so sure H/hr will finally get together. I like the idea of the HMS hope. It really is a good name for all us H/Hr shippers still holding onto our hopes.

this thread came at the perfect time! i just finished rereading HBP and i'm beginning to lose my hope again. i tried to read between the lines, looked for hints that will save our ship, and best thing i did was associate their ship to a song i feel fits them well!

I'm kind of lost though. what does HMS exactly mean or stand for?

all i know is that i'm sailing the harmonious ship trying to find hope but faltering....

HMS (I think) stands for "Her Majesty's service" -then the ships name-
I have also heard of them as just being MS.

I have never given up on Harry and Hermione, they are the ONLY thing that makes sense to me. The way I see it is, hoping for a H/Hr pairing is hoping for true love and a forever kind of relationship with trust and loyalty, and what is wrong with that?
I have decided to man one of the canons on level two and I brought along a machine that recycles anvils into artillery.

Heeh I'm getting quite emotional over all this. It's so nice to see us all support each other through these times. What would I do without all of you

(off topic) I'm thinking of starting up a thread where we will go through each book and write down every moment that is possible to be either R/hr H/hr and H/g. Then when we have gone through the book we will compare who's stood out the most and made the most sense in foreshadowing. I know the result peronally myself but if we try to be unbiased it may just work. I think it would put a lot of heart into everyone and maybe help us to understand why the other ships came into HBP. I know it will be a big job but it would definitly interesting. I started one for just GoF sometime at the beginning of last year and You find a lot of enlightment and you'll be surprised how many very subtle moments there are. So if anyone is interested please say so because I would like support for this since it will take quite some time and effort.

Sign me up! The HMS Hope was just what this ship needed. I'll never lose hope. Even if, Heaven forbid, H/Hr doesn't happen at the end, I'll still sail this ship. This was a great idea.

I'll be the first to admit that I lost heart after HBP was published. Then I got over it and started theorising with other Harmonians and it wasn't too bad. Book 7 was still salvagable.

duh duh duh DUH....oh, then the clouds darkened and the shite-fire storm in the form of *BOOMING VOICE* The Interview of DOOM had arrived....

Needless to say I was offended more than anything. Forget being sad over the supposed direction the series was taking. Other than reading occasional fics here at PK, starting TeamVoldemort, and ranting with fellow "non-canon" shippers....I really dropped HP in general. Book 7 didn't even intrigue me at all. The whole series seemed to lose it's heart and became a cliched and contrived CHILDREN's series. I thought it held more depth than that. I looked at JK and felt cheated that I gave her too much credit as a writer.

Months went by...and slowly I started lurking on PK again. I couldn't believe how many of us didn't jump ship. I don't think ANY Harmonian "jumped" ship. They went down with it in their belief. We ARE loyal even in the face of total defeat. However, the more posts I read about analyzing HBP in depth, the more I was suprised at HOW many things in the book there were to question and the book in general wasn't completely rubbish. Perhaps there is more than what meets the eye in HBP.

I'll be honest that the IOD still nags me that I'm being foolish for hoping for something that is hopeless in the eyes of canon.

To hell with it is what I say! I have read the books numerous times and I still see H/Hr. I saw H/Hr when I didn't even know what "shipping" meant and hadn't visited any of the HP sites.

I'm a university grad and I don't believe I could be that stupid in reading something that "isn't" there to be called delusional over 6 books.

BULLOCKS!

So, either JK is a hack and wrote a piece of crap...or she has one helluva twist coming in book 7 which will make the series a piece of classic literature.

Even with this nagging doubt in the back of my mind, I'm still holding onto hope that the series will be as I hoped, and that our ship with sail with flying colours!

Whoo hooo! We have a whole fleet now! I do know some former Harmonians who have jumped ship and are now scrubing the decks of Heron and Orange Crush but that doesn't get me down because there are so many people here who still have hope.

Oh heavens....I tell you. It's been a CRAZY year for me and the girls (other webmistresses). I've had so much work on my plate, just getting half the things done I need to are killing me. I'm working on several screenplays and it's been demanding my time. Plus, I'm working with my mum who is finishing her first novel. I've been swamped!

And we've lost ALOT of the ladies who originally formed the team. Many have (included myself at one point) lost heart in the HP fandom and quit. Others, like myself have been sooo busy with work, school and family to keep things running properly.

Kate J shut down HarryLovesHermione.com , one of my favourite HP sites EVER! The IOD was the final slap in the face to her and in her opinion to loyal fans. Many lost complete respect for JK that day. We still chat up on the HLH private forum but that's about it.

I will admit that I really gave up on HP after the IOD. We were so ###### angry about the whole thing (which is how TV came about....ranting to the point of silliness) and TV was really fun for a while. Then some of us felt it was rather pointless to even take the mickey out of canon and fandom in general and lost interest. If I can get myself sorted out in the next few months, I'll be able to make more updates on the site. I have a couple hysterical ideas for music videos (once I get the GOF dvd for footage!). We'll have to see. My work and family comes first.

I think people needed a cooling off period, too. I know I did. After reading new theories here especially Brown's and Sherbert Lemon's, I started getting my hope back up.

Honestly, I'm taking it all with a grain of salt this time and not getting my hopes up TOO high only to be crushed next year. I'm expecting the worst and hoping for the best with book 7.

I will say that I believe (since I became a shipper) that H/Hr shippers are by far the most intuitive and detail oriented when it comes to analysing the books. We really did look for real meaning, theme and essence by reading between the lines all the while seeing the other's (shippers) side of it...and not just taking everything at face value...the obvious ANVIL-sized clues. IMO, I saw alot of "Emma" in HP, regarding the romances. If JK is truly a fan of Austin, I would expect better than what HBP delivered and what's to come in book 7. If HBP is nothing more than the obvious portrayed and that transcends into book 7, I'll highly disappointed in her as a writer. I'm praying that she is the writer I've come to expect by what I read in 5 books...and not all the OBVIOUS is really obvious.

I too, can see where Chocos and Herons are coming from and thats fine. I just wish the shippers wouldn't be so cruel to each other. Agree to disagree damnit! I will not leave my ship whether it sails in book 7 or sinks to the bottom of ocean. I don't care. And I wish other shippers could just accept that , keep their arrogance to themselves. I don't care if H/Hr never becomes canon. I STILL think it's better. And THAT's from a writer's view point. I can't see HP any other way. I'm sorry for those who don't like that, but do I give a flying f***? Nope!

H/Hr is how I interpreted the books and no one can tell you how you should interpret what you read. If the writer cannot convey his or her meaning properly for the reader to understand without a doubt, then they suck!

If H/G is meant to be, then she did a horrible job SHOWING us, the reader, that in several books (rather than having to resort to TELLING us in a bloody interview). It's her fault not showing the reader her intent or build up in the book. She had 5 effing books to build Ginny's character to make her worthyand plausible as a love interest for Harry. IMO, she didn't. She can't tell the reader to re-read when she herself has said that SHE doesnt' re-read the material after she's written it. A little hypocritical don't you think? I never saw R/Hr as anything more than sibling-like bickering and possibily a one sided infatuation (Ron towards Hermione). I always thought Hermione fancied Harry. ALWAYS.

I've re-read books 1-5 so many times....even after I learned about shipping and Herons, Chocos and the like...and I STILL see H/Hr. Call me barmy, but H/Hr is what is meaningful to me. It was then, it is now....and nothing, not even canon is going to change that.

If anything, I would suggest (which may have been suggested, but I'm not sure) to make Hope represent a specific part of the community.

Pumpkin Pie is usually the casual fanon name that's slung around, Harmony the more official debating term for the Harry/Hermione shippers, and finally Hope for...I don't know, our own unofficial name? For who we are after HBP?

I think it's a good idea, with a good image. That being said, I would like to bring up some drawbacks.

First is that if our ship is as sunk as others may believe, putting a new name on an old topic is just further evidence of our not accepting the word of Jo.

Secondly, it's confusing to go through innumerable names of ships...Every ship has at most two...and that's about where it ends. From Orange Crush to Chocolate, from the Good Ship to Heron (or Mo'Ron, but that's not their term), having too many ships makes a weak front for others. People aren't sure which is the ship, even though they all are, and I think a unified front is necessary in our darkest hour.

Just my pragmatic two cents.

Nah HMS Hope is good because it does stand for what we believe. I don;t see why we should think that because of the interview we are sunk. She told us to re-read the books again. Well I have sevreal times in fact and I still see H/HR. I don;t care what others think. I've already told heron's and Chocos that since I respect their ideas, they should respect mine and they do. We all know about the IOD and they've been quite nice to me actually and applaud the fact that I still stay true to my ship as they would if it was theirs that had been questioned. Its not over till the end of Book 7 and I'm sticking to that. So if having three names makes us sound weak well I would bhave to disagree. We are united in HMS Hope and that's all that matters

I agree that HMS Hope stands for what we believe in and I must say that I personally wasn't a h/hr shipper until after HBP and even though there was h/g and r/hr in HBP it doesn't end that way. we don't know that hermione and ron are going to start dating because it's not said. it's just subtly hinted at.

I became a harmony shipper before I even realized there were people out there who wanted a R/Hr pairing. All I did was read the books and I saw the quiet strength these two characters brought to this story. They are steadfast loyal to each other and they trust each other more than any body in the HP universe.

I saw this ship sailing long before I knew there was a ship! It was just how I read the events that happend.

first I thought oooh how sweet Ron and Hermione are crushing but I always knew that what Harry and Hermione have is real and it is the stuff that love is made of.

Ron and Hermione's relationship is immature and to be honest after HBP I was more confident about H/Hr happening. Sure it was obvious that they were jealous of each other but since when does JK show "obvious" clues in her books?

My friends, love is not about sending evil canaries to draw blood from Won Won, or going off and snogging some other girl just for the sake of snogging after you had been invited to a Christmas dance with the girl of your dreams.

Neither is it about snogging constantly the way H/G was doing *vomit* Harry and Ginny was purely physical. Yeah sure he was attracted to her but physical doesn't last. Notice how the H/G romance wasn't really on page? Sort of like Cho's kiss and that soon went into the potty too. I equate what Harry had with Ginny as purely teenage lust, and we see it end rather flatly didn't we? There was no confession of love and I'm going to miss you! Harry really didn't seem very upset about breaking it off either. It was a decision he had to make. I really don't think he would give Hermione up so easily friendship or love.

no Harry is happiest when Hermione is by his side. That is proven time and time again through every book.

It is destined to happen.

The only thing between Ron and Hermione is teenage Hormones and that is all. When it is all over Hermione will be waiting for Harry and their love will be legendary!

I don't think JK will disappoint us in book 7, and I will never hop ship!

First time poster, long time reader and I'm very proud to call this my very first post! My sister and I, like many of you, were not happy with the HBP and after reading the IOD we were down right upset!! I started reading essays and fanfics all which supported this ship and I even went as far as to try and figure out what the R/H and H/G saw in their ships. Aside from the whole One Big Happy Weasley Family (which I personally do not like because it's too much of a "happy ending" well suffice to say it felt a bit claustrophobic, but that's just me ) Although I don't agree with their ship I respect their opinions and would like to think that they respect mine.

Again this is a great idea! I can't wait for the fifth movie to come out as well as the seventh and final *sniffles* book. As Mulder said in the final episode of The X-Files "Maybe there's hope."

To me HMS Hope is not just about maintaining hope that Harry and Hermione will be cannon. It is also about Hope that a love like theirs, based on understanding and respect and developed over years is possible and worth hoping for. It is about hoping that there is a childrens author in the world who took the time to develop that amazing love story and teach a generation about what love truly is and it's about the hope that a generation might learn something from this example.

At least that's what I like about the name HMS Hope.

Regarding what other people think... If we cared that much would we be here?

Also having numerous ship names doesn't make us weaker, it makes us stronger. A navy going into battle wants as many ships as possible. Not only that but if our enemies are confused, so much the better. I like showing that we are different from the others because we are. Don't be ashamed of it be proud. We will be cannon and they will not or they will be cannon and we will not. We are different. More than anything else we believe in different things when it comes to love.
