Was just curious since I don't hold a particularly love for the bushy-haired witch. Still, I noticed when I read H/Hr fiction, I do like her, but in D/G fiction I
loathe her.
Was wondering if I was alone in my loathing

I really like Hermione. I hate her in D/G fics when she gets all uppity and tries to get involved and stuff.
*Hides from _J_* I actually quite like some D/Hr fics... meep!

I love Hermione, she's my favoritest character, but in D/G fanfiction a lot of people portray her as quite the annoying bugger. I like her being a bit nosy, because honestly, who can't see Hermione being concerned about Ginny if she found out she was involved with Malfie? Er... Malfoy.
And why isn't Harry's f**kbuddy on the list?

I do like Hermione as a character with Ron or Harry but I hate her with Draco. I don't mind her as a secondary character in D/G fics, but she can't be Ginny's best friend because it doesn't fit. Later

Hermione just happen to be my favourite character in the books. I like her to be Ginny's confidant. And this is supported by canon.

Hmm, well
_J_, I can understand what you mean about Hermione not being the most lovable character in D/G fiction. I think it's because Ginny (in fiction) often hates being in the trio's shadow so most authors make the trio sound dreadful.
I agree with you in that she is a likeable character otherwise, but she's isn't horrible
all the time

Not sure if that's what you meant but I LOVE Hermione in canon and other ship's fiction so I had to get in here and tellya

.
Just my two cents!

Hermione is Ginny's confidant.
Though I almost clicked: Sticks her nose in places she doesn't belong.
I see her as in between Friend & Annoying silly girl. She tries to "help", but also tries to know the difference between "helping" an d butting in, too much.

I do love Hermione, really, but she cant be more than a secondary charecter in D/G fics. Usually i portray her as the one who accidently finds out about Ginny' relationship with Draco, and eventually, when Ron finally finds out, Supports Ginny for her idials.
I also MUST keep her as Harry's Girlfriend!!!
Harry+Hermione Forever!!
Draco+Ginny Forever!!

How do I see Hermione when writing or reading Draco/Ginny stories?
Well I see her in many different lights, depending on the plot of the story. My general theme is a Ginny that has been corrupted from when she was posseessed by Voldemort and from the shadows that she has been pushed into by her brothers. With this theme I see Hermione as this girl who is close to Harry and Ron, who gets what she wants, has the grades, and puts on this perfect appearance. But I see Ginny not liking her because of what she has. Naturally Ginny wants to be accepted by her crush and by her brother, but there is this girl who fits into their group perfectly, and that girl isn't Ginny. I think Hermione is obviously brillant and wants to prove herself, but I see a selfish side that tends to forget about Ginny and being her friend.

vanillapuf - Harry's f**kbuddy?

I can't believe I forgot that one! lol, I guess the "as long as she isn't with Draco" sums it up. Right, right?
Anya Khan,
Arnina - No no, I LOVE canon Hermione

I didn't mean that Hermione! ::grin:: just in D/G ff. I guess I feel "threatened" whenever Hermione is around because of all the D/Hr fics out there

(
orchid! =S)
Phoenix - haha you pretty much put things into perspective there. I'm all "protective" of Ginny so Hermione worries me in ff. But in a lot of D/G I find myself agreeing with
HPcrazed182 in that Hermione can be "annoying" in the sense she tries to make things "right" but really sometimes is simply butting in on Ginny's life.
Ugh, I really need to try sleep...I can't belive I'm awake at 530 am..

Well . . . even in canon they aren't best friends. I've always loved Ginny since she appeared in the first book, and I've even taken the time to read through all the books and mark her parts. If you notice, she doesn't actually talk to Hermione that much, besides to talk about boys. That really isn't a deep friendship, because as any girl knows - it doesn't take a friend to talk about boys, they'll talk about boys with anyone and that's just a fact.
So when the author portrays the relationship between Draco/Ginny, they see Hermione as the one who never wanted a real friendship with Ginny, it's always been a pass and go type of thing between them. It's human nature to be jealous of those around you, and Ginny would naturally be jealous of anyone who was closer to her family then her. Look at how Molly fusses over Harry, you never see her fuss over Ginny until the end of the second book, and even then she is mad at Ginny for not following her mother's rules.
Though I might find it hard to believe that Hermione would just go ahead and be supportive. Draco is the one who has been the constant torture in her life since she started Hogwarts, he has brought her down to the lowest level of esteem and brought out the worst in her. Truthfully, in canon and in fanon, we must take into account basic human principles. I have a feeling Hermione might be feeling betrayed or hurt that someone she considered to be at least an aquaintance, would go behind her back and date the bane of her existance.
Did that make any sense?

I am torn between canon and fanon. In the canon, Hermione really annoys me. When she talks about SPEW and everything, it actually makes me like her character more, because it shows that she isn't a genious in every aspect. She was once an unknowing muggle, and hasn't been in the wizarding world long enough to know to let well enough alone. She doesn't understand that house elfs are not like the slaves we muggles know about, it's a completely different situation (in most cases).
Anyway I got off track. In fanon, many D/Gers characterize her as annoying, nosey, too smart for her own good. I am fiding myself not liking her character in either fanon or canon because of these facts, but then I remember book 5.
In book 5, she subjects herself willingly to breaking rules and messing up Umbridges plans just as much as Ron and Harry want to. This made me like her a little more, as I think she is realizing that being the perpetrator all the time is no fun. She is by no means my favorite character, but I think I may be warming up to her.

Oh, I like her allright.
A cross between 'the insufferable know-it-all' and 'brains-dig her style' would be my bet.
