I know its just awful to ask people's ages, but I am curious. I admit to being an (ahem) older HP fan, and therefore I would imagine one of the older H/Hr fans as well. How old are my fellow shipmates? If I get a few replies I will either post my own age or run off with my old head hung in shame! laugh.gif

Another Mod inserting some Notes
24Sep2003 => It oughta be fun to move this thread here in the Troll forum. Here's my rationale. tongue.gif ~galtxtr

24Nov2003 => Split the thread to make it load faster, at 100 posts max each. Here's Part 2.

Unless you're satan (devil.gif). But then again, I think we'd have bigger problems to deal with..wassat.gif

I don't mind telling you how old I am though. Might be a teenage thing.. I don't think were supposed to be embarassed, I don't know.
But I'm 15. Thank heavens, not the youngest one here.. I might be pretty close though..

P.s. You might want to hide that birthdate of yours in your profile if you really don't want us to find out.. wink.gif Not that anyone cares though so don't worry.

Edit: Indeed! Gotta have my potter. Ironically, I've never had Corn Pops in my entire life.
Happy early birthday then!
T.C. Geralds
LOL, I forgot I put that in there! Ah well. Yes, I will be 30 a week from tomorrow. Yes, I am ancient. tongue.gif

Part of Rowling's magic is that her work can be enjoyed by all ages.

Thanks for the welcome.
Kalie
That is part of the magic, isn't it? Fun for all ages. It's something that all generations can enjoy and share interests with. Oh yeah...I just turned 16 in May! I also tend to notice that many H/Hr seem to be older than some other shippers.
Starlight623
I have no problem sharing! I turned 23 last March.

I think the Harry Potter stories are completely ageless. Anyone can enjoy them! I know kids who love them and now I've got my grandmother reading them (and she's in her 70's). biggrin.gif

thumbup.gif YES!

Not that I'm that old. shaun.gif

I'll admit to turning 44 ... and I started reading the books just two years ago ...

So, no need to worry about your age.

I was on a plane the other day, and half the people reading HP (and there were many) were over the age of 30. Bring it on! More mature arguments.. who can resist?

I just turned 20 in April! tongue.gif Woo hoo! No more teenager for me!
PyroGlitch
you all suck-eth man! SuperAngry.gif I'm like... 13.... Naw, I don't mind being one of the younger peeps here, and even if most times people of diff ages disagree at times I have to admit that Harry Potter is one of the best things to start conversations with, with anyone of any age.

Anywho, I'm feeling kina old too. Going to university in September ... little kids staring wide-eyed at me when I tell them my age ... parents muttering about how I should act my age now ... ::grin::

Ah well I'll never be too old for Harry Potter ... right? ... Right?!

purple_mud
I'm gonna turn 21 this October. Yeah, I was under the impression before that most pumkin pie shippers are older but it turns out we pretty much have all the age range possible.

Oh, that was a pretty cool poem PyroGlitch! I love it!
pyrophoenix
nope!! there is no such thing as one being ever too old for Harry Potter!! biggrin.gif
itswritteninthestars
I guess I fall in the middle of the PP pack, I am only 20.
pnkrkprincess91
16 in September! 1 Month, 3 Weeks, 4 days left until I get my liscense! (My birthday falls on Labor Day, so the DMV is closed! It royally BITES! ARGGGGGG!)

I'm not the baby of the group for once! Yay!

I'm 17, 18 in November. And _J_, I agree with you, I went over to my little cousin's house to help out with a birthday party and when I was done I sat down with GOF. They crowded around and asked me how old I was and I told them and they're all, "Woah, you're old! Why are you reading that?!". wassat.gif I told them to go play.

dreamcatcher_3107
hello... I think I'm the youngest here so far... blush.gif (although I've always felt older than kids my age)
I'm turning 14 just a few weeks from today; July 31st! Yeah I know, HP's birthday. That's like, the thing I'm MOST proud of all biggrin.gif
I have noticed too that most of the older HP fans are H/Hr shippers. My explanation is that adults read the books more throughly (sp?) and are able to relate them to more personal experiences. That's why they tend to go for the UNEXPECTED and not the obvious. Also I believe that one of the reasons there are so many R/Hr shippers is that there is a lot of people that don't read the books throughly and that don't go "deeper than the surface". Most of them are teenagers like myself or kids, that take the facts of the books and don't bother themselves with developed theories, just wait for more facts to come. These are the kinds of minds that follow the OBVIOUS path, "cause--->consecuence" and such.
Hey, now that I've rambled long enough, I really have to go. Hope I didn't bore you to death.
With love,
The most sincerely obsessed H/Hr shipper in the world
T.C. Geralds
I can totally relate to that: When I bought OotP on opening day, I had both my kids yelling at me to finish so THEY could read it tongue.gif Good thing I am a fast reader, I had it finished in one marathon session.

Great to see the age ranges of we H/Hr obsessed people!
T.C. Geralds
Dreamcatcher, I agree with you quite a bit. I think we ancient H/Hr Shippers look at Harry and Hermione with a tad more life experience and can see just how compatible they are, especially compared to R/Hr (who I find dreadfully incompatible.) Could just be the pumpkin pie obsession talking though rolleyes.gif
dreamcatcher_3107
Hehehe I know what you mean... Sometimes I get so carried away with my ship... Anyways, that's the only explanation I've gotten so far. Glad you agree... biggrin.gif
PS: I'm also SO proud to be a H/HR shipper...
Asriel
Allright I also am one of the 'ancients' - I'm 32 BTW! And yes, as you've seen, I sometimes act less than 1/3rd my age and I'm proud of it - hehehe!
gal-texter
I don't mind revealing my age. I'm 33. I love the HP universe and the H/H ship!
angel1731
Yey! I'm not the oldest one here biggrin.gif thumbup.gif
*runs around hugging all those older then self*
My neighbour's always telling me I must be the oldest HP fan around, but I'm not biggrin.gif Oh, I guess I should mention that I turned 20 in May.

man, in that case i must be one of the youngest readers here. rolleyes.gif

biggrin.gif I'm sixteen going on seventeen (uh oh now I have to watch the movie, the song is in my head!) in December!! although i'm still relatively new to the Harry Potterverse, H/Hr is the way for me! All aboard the HMS Pumpkin Pie!pnkrkprincess91, I know just how you feel, my retrieval of my liscense was delayed and I really wanna drive my car!! w00t.gif

thetrueship
I'm turning 17 in August... And don't be ashamed of your ages, dearies! I have a couple of really good H/Hr compadres that are twice my age [Well, kinda ^.^]
PyroGlitch
Awww, come on all you 'Anicients' as you call yourselfs. You make it like you can't walk anymore but you can carry around a 870 page book:blink:. But I'm sooooo glad we can all agree how cool HP is, and that the majority of us can see Harry and Hermione's attraction to one another. thumbup.gif Most adults I know are always fussy about the books and obssesion on things from the book, but since the movies, they're acting like Arthur Weasly in a muggle store trying to ask Harry about a TV. It's soooooooo embarressing and slightly amusing, compared to all you adults who can tell the difference between a mudblood and a squib. So you all rock.... and roll.... wassat.gif All day long! blush.gif shutup.gif

One thing that I love about the older HP fans is, they prove to every arrogant people in the world that JKR's series isn't just for the kiddies smile.gif I hate it when they ask me "What's your favorite book?" and I say "Harry Potter, what else?" They'll say "Really? Isn't that for kids? Isn't it boring?"

feh, they stand corrected. It's neither boring, nor for kids smile.gif
prongsjr
i'm 17 yrs old. Hey age doesn't matter my neighbours, their got two teenage daughters around my age and the whole family has read the book! All of them!
biggrin.gif
i reckon heaps of people of all ages read HP, just some don't admit it.
Liz R.
I'm 14, 15 in November. But I've been obsessed for years, so I'm not all that surprised to see people that are younger than me. smile.gif
brittmizit
I think I am the youngest person here! Yay! The baby of the ship!

I am at the ripe, young age of 13. (Here's a tidbit: I am 15 days older than Emma Watson!) I love being the youngest. I'm the oldest in my family, and out of all my cousins, I'm the oldest. Whooo hooo. But, I have been shipping H/Hr since like book 1, without knowing it of course. So I was like 10 or something. How's that for a H/Hr shipper?!? tongue.gif

--britt
Ice Phoenix
i guess i'm not.. i'm 15.
Caramella
What I think is....doesn`t matter how young or old we are, we are already very, very, mature and wise for our age if we ship H/HR!
Ice Phoenix
laugh.gif how very true... see, the ron/hr shippers, they can be 40 and not be mature, because they're not on the right ship!
crookshank
Im 22, my bday is on decmber 18. T hink its not the age that really matters here but the mind that works. You may be 50 but your minds thinks like a teenager or a 15 but whose mind works like 30, doenst matter at all, does it?? rolleyes.gif
feather0311
Well I guess I can tell you guys I just turned 28 yesterday cool.gif . So you not alone anymore laugh.gif
Kaori Lily Marie XIV
Well, I just turned 15 last May... but I've been shipping since I was 13... and subconsiously so since I was 11 or 10... biggrin.gif I'm really quite alone in my level of shippiness in RL...

Young at age, young at heart and will forever be a potternut. I'm 20 going on 10. LoL.
Trust_in_Angels
I just turned 15 last month. I still don't feel like it yet... I keep telling people 14 unless I think about it.

I noticed I'm not the youngest... this is good. I'm usually the youngest in everything.

I hit 21 in October w00t.gif

I'm at Uni here in England and loads of people here are Potter mad. Our University bookshop opened at 00:00 on 21 June and the queues were enormous... It's nice - especially as a friend of mine is a fanfic author (athena_arena over at fictionalley - tends to write R/H though, sadly)
