Before anyone reads further please note I'm not a Ginny, Ron, or Weasley hater of any kind I just feel they make better support characters.

In all the books (as I'm sure you know) their is a distinct tension of sorts between Harry and Hermione. I'm not calling is sexual but more like a sort of admiration for the other.

Their are certain lines of dialouge (i'm pretty sure you know which ones just give me a bit and this will develop into my own theory) that reveal this.

R/Hr is TOO obvious

JK Rowling is the queen of the plot twist (again you'll know this) so anything is possible

Next is that throughout the books there is a clear and strange reliance on the past basically because Lily and James got together so should Harry and Hermione

NOW is where my disclaimer comes in and some will hate me.

For H/Hr to happen the Weasley family must die for two reasons. 1. This will make Harry not take what he has for granted. 2. I will give him the push to protect Hermione at any cost. In my mind if such a plot twisting event should happen it would probably be a Bill and Fleur's wedding(the Death Eaters crash it).

Things do look rather grave for my beloved ship but I still believe it can sail and I have enough faith to put about in that i give H/Hr happening 30%

the weasleys dont have to and will not all die to get harry and hermione togahter G/h was harry fianly growing some stones and doing something
he knew molly and ron would or thought would be upset about. hermione was obne his mind all through hbp he will need hermione's love in order to defeat voldermort not freind love, sibling love full blown head over heels
only by going out with ginny could he begin to understand what he needs

Citizen, I agree that H/Hr would be a repeat of the past, and that is what exactly what I was thinking would happen.

I disagree when it comes to the Weasleys having to die. If they had to die, what kind of love would Harry and Hermione have anyway? IF Hermione did date Ron, then after his death along with everyone else in his family, wouldn't Harry just be rebound? We want a love that we can say was real.

I really don't think that the Weasleys wil die, in any case, especially as a family all at once.

Darkness, IMO, it doesn't matter what kind of love he has, as long as it's real, and strong. It would be best if it did come from his friends, because the love of a strong friendship is... well, strong, and I believe this is what he needs most.

One thing I am pretty confident is that Hermione won't die....That's all I care about. But I guess her role in assisting Herry to battle the Dark Lord will become more and more important since both Sirius and headmaster died.

I don'y think the weasleys have to die for Harry & Hermione to get together.... though I'd be ok with it if Ginny died... Ummm anyway I think that Harry will figure it out in the next book, something will happen to Hermione and Harry will be forced to deal with it, or it will come out that there is nothing btw Ron and Hermione and Harry will be so relieved he'll finally have to admit that he wants her himself. I'm actually quietly confident.

I really not agree with you there.
At the beginning of HBP we are clearly at war and terror is everwhere:
in the first chapter we got the Killing of Amelia Bones and Emmeline Vance and the mental abuse of two muggle politicians and that was just the begining in the first chapter. As the story go on the numbers of victims raised accordly and let Ron asked at Breaksfast which one he kown had died today. Clearly terror is everywhere and the wizard world is the least safest place in the universe.
And the whole Weasley are working for the Order: there Arthur, Molly. Bill and Fleur, Charlie the Twins. Ron is on Harry´s side which meaned he is pratical working for the order too.
It would very unrealitic that the whole Weasley family come unharmed at the end of the war: Voldy kows for sure that they are working for Dumbledore and Lucius and Severus and Wormtail can comfirm that .
Knowning that the Weasley are Harry surrogate family it would be a good move to kill some of them in orde to hurt Harry hoping that he would break by his guilt and grievance.
So a weasley had certainly to die there
