Mod Note: Merged with another thread. ~Jennifer/Hermione's TwinI was thinking about this recently (which a quick glance at my sig will tell you

), how many people on here are insane about posting? What is the most you've posted in 24 hours? Do you know people that have posted more?
Anything related to insane posting goes here...

*looks at Shady's sig* I think those goals are maybe just a tad ambitious, but knowing what people can do when they're determined, it's possible.
I'm not posting insane, well, not yet. I could be, though.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, Shady. Many people have predicted things about me and I have yet to see any of them be right. So I doubt that that'll make me posting insane.

I wouldnt call myself an insane poster, per se. Though, right now, I am posting like crazy. I have been motivated to participate in the varioius discussions, after seeing all the good topics there are.

I don't think I would consider myself to be an insane poster..though at the moment I'm in this really odd posting mood..strange, considering I haven't been in the mood to post for a while..

Hmm, posting insanity...
Well I am general insane about everything else, no reason why I shouldn't be insane about this too.
Sadly, I'm so busy with school and stuff I haven't much time to post much other than on rare, free weekends.
Most I've posted in one day? Can't remember, it was either the day I first joined Portkey or the night I read the Draco-Ginny love potion essay... may come to me later...
On a side note, you can't take over PK Shady, that's my job!

Hmm, I don't think I've had it here at Portkey...although I was nearing it during the "Best Friend Issue" debate I posted over at Dueling Club ages ago...
But then I've actually only been "reunited" with the beloved Portkey (I've been over at
emmawatson.net) and I have a serious case of posting insanity there...I need to catch up on it here

I demand to achieve 1,000 posts here before Jan 1, 2005. I simply demand it!

Last year when I was addicted to the games in Exploding Snap, I had a serious case of posting insanity. I know I was often the #1 poster of the day, and some days had about 100 posts a day. I think the most posts I had in a 24 hour period, was between 100-120 posts, I dont remeber the exact amount.

Well I'm not exactly insane about posting, but sometimes I get these really odd urges to post a lot..sort of like now. I don't know why, but I just can't seem to help it. For some reason this happens when I'm procrastinating on doing my homework..

I honestly don't care about my post count being high. Sometimes I get odd posting urges, but that's only because I'm procrastinating on doing something (like homework

)..but yeah, I don't really care..

I don't really care about my post count. I dont really post that often. If it weren't for the ES forum, I wouldnt have so many.

At first, I was like 'Oh my, I need to post so that I would be on the 1st ranking' but then it faded, maybe because I just stop it since I need to concentrate on my studies.

Here's my answer: look at when I signed up, and then look at my post count

I prefer the whole "quality not quantity" thing, to be honest. But, if you manage to get quality AND quantity, then all praise to you for managing it

I should have gone for sometimes instead of yes. Cause honestly I only care occasionally. Would like to get over 100 though. Nearly there.

I do agree that its better to go for quality, and not quantity, and thats what I strive for. If I can't add anything new or valid to a discussion (or if the topic doesnt interest me), I won't post. Lately I've found a lot of good discussions that I've felt compelled to add to, so I've been posting more. Thats not to say I dont make some "pointless" posts in the Off-topic forums, but I do strive for quality.

Oh, I used to care...a lot, in fact. Jeez...I remember the posting war I had with Ri. I believe it was the first person to 800 would win. Wow, that was obviously a long time ago. The summer of '04 I went into a posting frenzy. I wanted to get into the Top 10 so bad. I started usurping people, making 30, 40 posts a day. I even went one day with making exactly 100. Those high posting rates were of course due to ES, which I am now ashamed of, because they were nothing more than one-liners most of the time...not a post of real substance.
But then I got into the Top 10. I was...eighth, I do believe, when Kris went on her posting spree, saying that she would usurp me like I had done to her. Bec, of course, went on her posting spree and now is on top. Me, I've just been moving along since then. Posting hasn't been much of a big deal anymore, as those on top told me it wouldn't. I can remember back when Kristina was so hell bent on keeping third spot.

I'm sixth now and I've got a long way to go before I catch up to Pen in fifth. Honestly, if I surpass her, no big deal. It just doesn't mean much to me anymore.

Never really cared much for post-count. I try to post something worth while, but every now and then I post something completely random and sometimes nonsensical. It's not because I want to up my post count, but because--well, because I'm having fun.

If you look at my post count, it's clear I don't care about it much. As others have said, if I don't have something constructive to post (which most of the time I don't

) then I won't post. I do have little spurts of posting, but not that often.

Oooh haven't been here for a while... *Bad Bec!*
So yeah, to answer the question I sort of care.
I mean, before I was like "I wanna get to number one! Whoooooo!!!"
But now I'm not too bothered about it. It may be because I
am the top poster, but I'm not too fussed to be honest.
I really think that if it hadn't been for ES then my post count wouldn't be this high. I think it's probably true for most people that wen't in there before the posts didn't go towards the overall count.

I've been going for #1, and I keep telling myself I'm going to make it... it'll take forever, but I tell myself I will...
Yeah, over my dead body!

So yeah, as you can see I'm not overly bothered, (Ignore my reply to Mark... Heh) but it's nice to be recongnised for something I suppose.

I sometimes do care but I sometimes don't

When there are new topics I try to post in most of them but sometimes I just get lazy. So I guess it depends in what mood I'm in
Another
Nov 24 2005, 12:35 AM
That would depend greatly on how frequently I'm able to post. If everything's going great, it's really easy to get attached to post counts and their velocities. But when I'm flying around the country at breakneck speed or worse dead stopped in SoCal traffic between extremely busy work projects and I can't tell you when I last slept, then I tend to go for the "quality, not quantity" mantra.

Meh I never did follow up on that. Oh tragic.
I used to care, but not anymore. Granted I once went on a posting spree and posted about 100 times in a night...Course they were all one-liners and before the posting count was turned off for games...I try and pretend I don't feel guilty over it...

I do believe this has something to do with us being mods. You know, one liners are a big no, no here on PK, so we, as role models, try not to do it. We can't set a bad example, after all.

I don't know...it might be different for you, but I think that's the root of my guilt problems.

I think that sometimes I do, well cause it's fun to see the number beside your name. I'm such a sap

LOL! But mostly not, because I don't want to go posting weird and stupid things, I just like to post if I want to converse. But sometimes I go on a posting spree in a while if I have time
