RELATED POST: clarifications about this "no student-teacher / cross-generation pairing" rule
~gal-texter / Pen May2008

I have another question about the fanfic rules. I'd thought to put this idea in a fic, didn't, but I thought I'd ask about this just in case I wanted to put this into a fic.

QUOTE(Fanfic Rules)
E. No Cross-Generation stories
We don't accept stories where two people from different generations come together in the story. It is unacceptable by our site rules. Some people may write perfectly good stories that do this, but we don't want them on this site. Cross-Generation could be considered anything over approximately 3 or 4 years of age gap.

My question is this: What if, say, I was writing an AU fic, with either h/hr (either one) older than the other? Like if, say, Harry was 15 and Hermione was 21, or something similar? That rule tells me that wouldn't be allowed, but I was wondering if the fact that it was h/hr would make it an exception. Not sure, I just wanted it clarified.

I'm not totally sure on this, but I believe that would be disallowed.

If Harry was more like 17 or 18 in the hypothetical situation you just gave, no problem. But I don't think we can condone something wherein, as stated, the age gap is more than 3 or 4 years. This applies to ALL fics.

Any other Mods with thoughts on this?

I agree with Darkstar. If I were reviewing a fic application with such a large age gap as 15 and 21, then I seriously doubt I would accept it. Obviously, that gap is highly magnified by the small numbers, but even H/Hr would not be an exception to the rule. The idea of changing their ages itself, however, is not the issue.

Okay, thanks...

I'll probably end up working that idea into a fic that I post on FFN if I put it in any story... it was just something I was considering writing, anyway... it wasn't like I'd put any time into writing it...
