FELIX FELICIS COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Firstly, I would like to thank everybody for making this competition an enormous success. Thousands of members have got into the spirit of this competition with over 7,000 ratings of stories occuring. There have been 95 stories entered into this competition, and by all accounts these stories were of a very high standard. We have learnt a lot in running this competition, and have plans for many more occuring in the future.

The most important aspect of this competition is not who wins or looses, but that the whole community has benefited from it and won. I think it is important for everybody to recognise that no matter what happens in the book series, we can create our own worlds through fiction. I personally have been very impressed by the standard of entries, and I think the high ratings given by our members is a reflection of this.

The purpose of this announcement is to announce our winners, but there may be other questions that people have - we ask that you ask them in this thread. We would also love your feedback for improving future competitions, and you can provide that in this thread.

And now on to our winners. The competition was very close, with the top 3 positions changing regularly throughout the competition. I have not yet decided whether we will release story ratings. I may allow authors to view the rating they recieved in their author area, but they will not be publicly released. I am interested to hear what others think of this idea - and the feedback thread is a good place for people to comment.

And the winners are....

Congradulations to the authors of these stories - Lynney, Goldy and Ahn Na Blue.

These authors will recieve the prizes listed on the prize page. Over the next few days I will get in contact with them and arrange for the delivery of the prizes.

The random prizes will be drawn within the next few days. I apologise to everybody for the delay before these winners were announced. It has been a busy period of time for me and it was important that I checked to make sure everything was correct and finished off some of my other duties.

Thanks,
James

I wasn't really sure where else to make this reply, so I thought I'd go here.

First of all, I cannot believe how lucky I am to be able to enter this competition AND come away with a prize. I'm so unbelievably flattered and I thank ALL OF YOU that voted for me. And, James! The work you and everyone else has put into this competition must have been enormous - I'm just so amazed by all of you.

Congradulations to Lynney, who is a fantastic writer and definitely deserves her win and Ahn Na Blue, whose new story I will be reading after this. And everyone else that entered - PK has so many good writers.

I think I've spent a half hour sitting here giggling. Thank you so much.

Hah! Finally, the results! And although my story didnt make the top 3 I'm glad that my favorite story among the others in the competition made it - and won! thumbsup.gif Good job, Lynney, and keep updating! Goldy and Ahn Na, your stories are great, too, but there can only be one! 1eye.gif <- see?

One thing I feel is that it may have been a bit harder for new authors who had not written anyhting before the competition to get noticed. The well-deserved fame and respect of the "older" writers certainly means at least that the readers are going to read their stories first and the other 90+ stories when they have time. Maybe we could make the next competition an anonymous one? What do you think about that idea? I'm pretty certain Lynney will bag that one too, but who knows? whistling.gif

Bah...I knew I shouldn't have given all those stories 5's....took myself out of the running I did! Lol. Anyway, I just wanted to ask two general questions. The first, when will the random T-shirt prizes be announced, and second, assuming I don't win one, is it possible to buy one? I have this great idea where I list all the possible words that us H/Hr shippers have been called since the release of HBP and put them in nice iron-on letters on the back like so:

Militant
Delusional
Illiterate...

...And still flaming R/Hr shippers until we die.

Any info on these topics would be great, thanks James (and thanks for getting me back writing again...your review to My Farewell was one of the ones largely responsible for my FFF entry).

Hey,

Congrats to Lynney, Goldy, and Ahn Na Blue, you guys have fantastic stories! I was sad that mine didn't make the top 3 but, hey, there's always next time!

I was actually wondering if we could find out the complete order of the fanfics after the top three, I'd love to know where others stories I enjoyed ended up in the competition. Is this possible to find out?

I also like the idea of an anonymous competition for the next one. I think it would make it interesting and have people base their votes more on the story and not be influenced in any way by who the author is.

Great job again everyone! I just love the writers at Portkey! thumbup.gif

Oh my! Congratulations!!!! And my three FAVORITE AUTHORS no less!!!

Wow. You absolutely deserve winning. happy.gif Whenever you update your stories, you do not know how much of a good mood it puts me in. I literally clap my hands in delight when I see that wonderful "Chapter Alert" in my inbox. You all rule.

Congrats!

First of all I have to thank everyone who voted, and of course James and NAPPA for the awesome and uplifting competition. All of the stories were great, and it really brought out the best in the Harmonians. So...great idea!

And second, I can't believe I placed. Seriously. Sat blinking at that banner for a solid seventy seconds going, "hey, does someone else have that story title too?" I'm thrilled, particularly because of the company I was in. Way to go Lynney and Goldy!

And third, I can't wait to get my hands on that Portkey bear. I'm going to hug it, and stroke it, and love it... what a naughty little pet!

Just kidding I'm not that much of a freak. I mean I will love it and everything, but that's a paraphrase from Tommy Boy. You know, where he's molesting the dinner roll.

Anyway, now that I've alienated everyone...thanks again!
