Would anyone else agree he sounds extremely sexy in the books yet in the movies is only passed at mediocre? (and that's being generous)

Technically, in the books, Draco Malfoy is only described as having a pale, pointed face and grey eyes, and never in it does it mention if he's ugly or good-looking.

If you mean that you get to imagine him as you see him (being the dastardly handsome Draco you see) more clearly and more often in the books than the movies, than I see where you're coming from. However, I doubt Draco is some sort of Adonis. JKR even mentioned once that Tom Felton was a good-looking boy and portrayed Draco as more eye-pleasing than she originally pictured Draco.

I think he's more so in the movies. Before seing the SS movie, I always imagined him to be somewhat Dudley-like. I missed the pointed-face part while reading SS. While watching SS, I practically screamed out in the middle of the theater. "Look, Shelly! Draco is so cute!" It was a shock to me.

Isn't it strange what our inner perceptions can make us believe at times?
Though, I must ask you how on earth you saw Draco as looking Dudley-like.
It's been so long since I first saw the movies so I barely remember what I originally imagined the characters to look like.
I actually think Tom Felton is pretty close to what I'd imagined.

I agree with Sakura1287...In some ways Tom Felton made me fall in love with Draco more than fanon Draco could.

But I don't think he would ever be able to pull off the perfect Angsty!Draco I have in mind

I am positive you're right about this. Tom Felton is perfect for youngcute!draco but the Draco I am imagining for the future... well I'm just not so sure he could do it.
Plus JKR didn't really write Draco EXACTLY as I wanted, but I gotta hand it to her, she came pretty darn close.

Gosh this makes me want to read R rated angsty Draco/Ginny fics....

i kave always loved draco, he was always my favourite character, but tom felton, if possible, made me like him tons more,lol

I dunno.... I think Tom could do angsty Draco, it's hard to imagine it now because Draco's character is somewhat subdued in the films.

I mean they make him out to be such a joke....it's hardly any of Tom's doing and has more to do with the script and the lines and scenes they choose to keep for Draco.. I am always sorely disappointed with each movie because they seem to take more and more of Draco out in order to focus on getting the story across in under 3 hours.

But given the opportunity I'm certain that Tom could pull off the powerful, controlling angst driven draco we come to love in fanfic.

To be honest, I can't even describe what I think Draco looks like. He's just...Draco I guess. I think Tom Felton does a good job portraying Draco for the movies he's been in. I mean, Draco was only supposed to be 14 in the last movie. What 14 year old is drop dead amazing gorgeously broody and darkly perfect? I guess we'll just have to keep our eyes on little Tommy (though I doubt that will be much of a problem) and see how he turns out for when Draco gets to be a wee bit older and a bit more mature.

I always imagined him has sexy. Just something about him. I agree they make Malfoy some kind of joke in the movies. He isn;t the coward the make him out to be int he movies. But never mind that.

Can I just say I read one of the most absorbing Draco fanfics last night (and this morning actually. I got no sleep because I just wanted to now what happened. it was called Sinister Draco (hope that is right) And I seriously loved it! If it was any more possible that fan fic has increased my conviction that Draco is dead sexy

Actually, the movies' portrayal of Draco in the novels seems pretty dead on to me so far (Except his overt whining in PoA, I guess), he really was quite cowardly until HBP (And even the crying in the bathroom was still somewhat...yah )

I think the fanfic you speak of is Cassandra Claire's Draco Sinister, right? Part of her long, fantastic Draco Trilogy, of course. It's somewhat her fault that many of us Draco fans have a misinterpretation of Draco's character in the novels, haha, but we love her for it! The distinction between fanon!Draco and canon!Draco still exists indefinitely

As for the way he portrayed in the HP books I always pictured him looking like a human weasle, I never saw him as a good looking guy, that is of course until the movies came out. Tom Felton is a hottie (even if he has a rather big forhead! LOL)

the only real times i've liked him in the movies was probably CoS & PoA, he looked so cute there! but the last film he looked slightly odd to me and his hair looked too fluffy

i've read so many D/G fics that the way that the author interprets him, they all get mixed together forming one super sexy guy, but i just cant imagine a face. because when was the last time you saw a guy with propper chisled out cheek bones?? and yet still look hot? so he's kinda faceless to me at the moment but he still looks good!

Depends on what pictures you're looking at, I've seen some hot pictures of Daniel without the HP glasses, but I will have to say that I never found him attractive until the 4th movie and there is something about those glasses that makes him more handsome than without. I'm gonna have to agree with you about Draco(Tom) though! He's a total hottie.
