Hey everyone!

With the influx of newbies that PK is currently experiencing due to the release of HBP, I am happy to see that the spirit of troll wrestling has not diminished. I'm very pleased to see members welcoming the newbies. After all, the friendliness of PKers is what keeps people posting. However, I would ask all of my fellow troll wrestlers to stop posting one liners! They are against the PK rules, after all. A post that reads "Hi, welcome to Portkey," seems a tad impersonal, whereas if you post more, asking the newbie questions, it shows a genuine interest in them, making them feel all the more welcome. Jennifer, you're so understanding.

Part of what made me stay at PK after I joined was the unity of our great ships, but another part was the wonderful bunch of PKers we have here. Since you were welcomed with open (and occassionally giggling with pumpkins) arms, then it's more than worth it to return the gift of friendship to those brave enough to ask for it. But don't be sycophantic. If you shower a newcomer with emoticons and bathe them in platitudes, they might get the feeling that Portkey is just another H/Hr bastion. Any Portkey is so much more than that.
