Alright, I am wondering here.....
The way everybody says "Pumpkin Pie".... I know what it is, of course, but there is something odd happening to the phrase....
The origin of "Pumpkin Pie" meaning A H/Hr relationship is clear.... But now people are using it kinds strangley...
People say things like "Takes a big piece of Pumpkin Pie" or "Servers the Pumpkin Pie"..... Forgive me if I'm being over-analytical, but what are you implying by saying "Serves the Pumpkin Pie"? Are you saying it just as a joke, because we all know what it really is and that the pumpkin pie we're thinking of is
not edible? Is that what's goiing on?
Or is the term taking on a new meaning, and are you suggesting that by serving a big piece of pie, you are actually feeding out a really great H/Hr idea? Or are you saying that by serving more and more of the
edible pumpkin pie, you are doing something symbolic?
Whereas Pumpkin Pie once meant "A fan fic or concept that involves Harry and Hermione in some form of relationship greater than friendship", it is now slowly taking on a new meaning: "A symbolic item that
represents a relationship between Harry and Hermione", in which case it is used in such a context as "Have a big Piecs of Pumpkin Pie" (meaning "Let there be a great amount of Love between Harry and Hermione")
.................Okay I've made my own head hurt but I've rambled too long not to post this.
WHAT I AM ASKING IS THIS: Is ther term "Pumpkin Pie" slowly begining to mean more than just a Fan fic in which Harry and Hermione go at it, etc.?
Just some observations from an author who actually hates the real Pumpkin Pie but loves the metaphorical stuff.
