Hello, fellow D/Gers! user posted image

In light of my query to open a new subsection for our forum based on D/G Essay/Theories, I'm here to scout for anyone who has and/or is interested in posting their work!

Remember, the only way we can get more involvement and allow our forum to grow is if we participate in its development!

So, who has DG essays/theories they'd post? I know some of you do! biggrin.gif

Modly Yours,

Awww, you really should, Katie!

Let me just say that I have essays to post in the new subsection.

EDIT: Also, there are a few threads that could be moved there.

How now?
Why Ginny?
Ginny...

I could ask Sharlene (Mynuet) to post her essay here. How about that?

I actually have an essay I put up here:

Draco/Ginny Similarites with Possible Canon

Draco, meaning "dragon" or "serpent", Malfoy, like malfeasance meaning "wrong-doing or misconduct by a public official", is described as "sinister" with a "sharp, bloodless face like a vampire with icy grey eyes".

When Draco's not at Hogwarts, he lives in "an elaborate mansion" with his pureblood parents.

Since year two, Draco Malfoy has been a member of the Slytherin Quidditch teams as Seeker and he is top student in his house. sorcerer.gif

Once in his first year he tried to befriend Harry but he was rejected as Harry told him that he could "tell the wrong sort" for himself. It is obvious that from the beginning Draco is angry that Harry doesn't like him. And from then on he, usually with the help of Crabbe and Goyle, openly insults Harry whenever possible whether because of true hatred, jealusy or insecurity.

Ginevra (Ron's only sister), meaning "virgin", however, is more subtle about her frustrations with Harry not returning her feelings of infatuation because she is so shy. But after Harry asks out Cho Chang (even though she declines) and after four years of waiting she gives up on him. She is no longer afraid to speak honestly in front of him and she even goes off on Harry in an argument. We're seeing a part of her we've never seen before. She is acting more and more like . . . . Draco Malfoy.

QUOTE
(pg. 499, Ch. 23, OoP)"Well, that was a bit stupid of you," said
Ginny angrily, "seeing as you don't know anyone but me who's been
possessed by You-Know-Who, and I can tell you how it feels."

And Harry is becoming more hostile toward Ginny.

QUOTE
(pg. 735, Ch. 32, OoP) "Never you mind," said Harry roughly.

And:

QUOTE
"I was only wondering whether I could help." (Ginny)
"Well, you can't," said Harry shortly.

Though all these changes weren't until OoP, similarities between Draco and Ginny came long before.

In CoS, both are decieved rather easily by the opposite side. Ginny is tricked by Tom Riddle's 50 year old diary and Draco is fooled by Harry and Ron when they use Poly Juice Potion to look like Crabbe and Goyle.

Also, Ginny shows similarities to Draco as he was in year one in the Forbidden Forest. They're both too proud to ask for help or admit their fear.

QUOTE
(PS/SS movie) "If I didn't know any better, Malfoy I'd say you were
             scared." (Harry)

Draco denies it.

In OoP, Ginny hurts herself and Luna offers help:

QUOTE
(pg. 796, Ch. 35, OoP) "It's only my ankle, I can do it myself!" said
                        Ginny impatiently.

To further press the possibilities of this couple actually being a couple, Greek Mythology Malfoy is a lot like Hades and Ginny much like Persophone. The name Persophone meaing "virgin" is even the same. For Romeo/Juliet lovers out there, there may be a considerable chance for D/G.

Much despite Persophone's mother's wishes, Hades carries her off the underworld where he makes her queen.

The Malfoy and Weasley families are strict enemies (like in R&J) and Ginny's parents would really insist against Draco marrying Ginny.

Also, in legends Guinevere, King Arthur's unfaithful daughter in the Knights of the Round Table, betrayed her parents by marrying Lancelot.

Why the Bat Bogey Hex is Important

Hell - the place Hades brings Persophone too - is described as gloomy where ghosts of the dead fly around like bats, guarded by the five impenetrable rivers.

Persophone is a godess associated primarily with bats. They are her sacred animal.

Bats to caves = Persophone to fertile feilds of earth

cave=hell=Chamber of Secrets

Hades=Tom Riddle=Draco or Hades=Draco=Tom Riddle (either way)

Bats = Bat Bogey Hex and

Persophone=Ginny

Persophone heart.gif bats = Ginny will heart.gif Draco

Bats indicate transition and initiation and symbolize rebirth and th "shamanic death" of those initiating mysteries of the old ways (whatever this means).

In some cultures like Japan bat's are considered unlucky and "souls of the dead" but the Chinese word for bat mans happiness. There is also the drawing of the five bats which signifies 5 blessings of health, wealth, long-life, love and peace.

Draco had the Bat Bogey Hex performed on him by Ginny Weasley. One of the five blessings of the bats is love. So is this a further step in D/G? They hate each other yes, but there is a connection - though I can't tie it together exactly - between the bat hex, Ginny and Draco.

Yay for D/G! sorcerer.gif

here's one I found in mugglenet...

well, it's mostly about Ginny, but check out this passage:

QUOTE
In the legend, Guinevere is married to Arthur. She loves and admires him but falls in love with Lancelot. You know this story, don't you? There is a complex betrayal, a trial, a duel for her honour, a lifetime of banishment. Two points arise from this for me:

4.1: Lancelot is also called the "Chevalier Mal Fait" the "Ill-made Knight" (he has a broken nose and is not much of a looker). Does the name "mal fait" remind you of anyone we know? Scary.

So, Draco does'nt have a broken nose... blush.gif But cool, ain't it? smile.gif

So... he's been beaten by Harry, Fred and George though plenty of times, right? That counts for something. innocent.gif
