thumbup.gif Congratulations to snoopy and Hobbes (both comic characters? O.o)! thumbup.gif

Some people make it seem so easy, but I'm finally throwing the towel after being rejected for the third time. tongue.gif What's the saying? Three strikes, you're out. At least I've got FFnet. heart.gif

Congrats snoopy_pie AND Hobbes! sorcerer.gif

Yeah, it really is an amazing feeling! thumbup.gif

Thanks for the merging the thread. It feels fantastic and it's so nice to get reviews.

blush.gif I can't believe I actually made it. It seemed impossible, but it finally happened.

Thanks a lot to Adam for not letting me "throw the towel" and for encouraging me to keep trying. smile.gif

Yay, John! If I had known you had given up, I would have heckled you, but be thankful Adam got you instead. *nods*

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

So happy and well... HAPPY!

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I think that I opened the Portkey gallery and I saw that my application wasn't pending anymore so I tried to see if my Author application was accepted too. I was so glad that it did.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I think a couple of hours.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Because it was a huge Harry/Hermione fan fiction site and my stories are mostly about them and when I first visited the site, I knew right away that it was popular.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I got in trouble for screaming at the top of my lungs, if that's any indication.

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I hadn't checking my email in a long time, checked it, and saw the [Portkey Author Application-Accepted] as a title for one.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

Still trying to work on my first story blush.gif. Trying to make it awesome.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Harmony, of course!

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

Since it had been around two months since I first applied (I'd been denied four times due to technicalities, i.e. not long enough, couldn't find it, etc.) I just sat there and smiled for a while and pumped my arm smile.gif

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I got the e-mail.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I wanted to do it immediately, but I couldn't because I had to do some research I had to wait an hour or so.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I found PK when I was doing a Google search for HP fanfiction. I've always wanted to write, so...

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I was surprised. The FAQs made me think the process would take quite a while. I was notified of my acceptance within hours of applying

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I got an email from the site, or someone on it, I don't remember exactly

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I posted the first chapter the same day.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I had been posting on FA for about three years, but found myself reading more on PK because I much prefer H/Hr. After HBP the amount of H/Hr on FA decreased. If I was reading it on FA, I thought I should at least post my story here as well, so I did.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I ... well, actually I was confused because I didn't realise what it was at first. I submitted the application so long ago (a month? two?), so I'd forgotten all about it.

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

An email.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I haven't yet. I may do it in a few days, on my off day when I'm not so pressed for time.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I wasn't very keen on the idea at first, actually, because this is a H/Hr site, and I'm a R/Hr shipper (*ducks flying tomatoes*). But my OTP is L/J, and a reviewer on Timeturner.net strongly suggested I cross-post here because the story would be enjoyed, and I thought feedback from some die-hard L/J fans would be useful. So ... yeah. That's the story. Sorry to be all long-winded.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I was, like, "Whoa...!" Cause, like, I had applied like four times before, and I got rejected... so, like... Heh. Plus my legs could've been a factor. (Hurt em.)

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I got the e-mail after I got back from vacation...

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

Haha, like a day... my body was killing me, so I was like "Hah, no way, man. I'm doing this tomorrow."

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Actually, I used to search on Mugglenet, and there was a story--"Always and Forever" by neiva--that would never update. I was looking at the reviews, and I saw someone say that they read it somewhere else--Portkey--and they were being a bad girl... and so I seached it, and here I am today! I must say, I've got to thank that person for leuring me to Portkey, and neiva, of course. I don't know her (her, right?) and without that story, I wouldn't be here today.

Author? Hmm... I've always wantd to write, and I could never find the proper place to do so. So when I saw Portkey, I was like "Why not?" And so here I am! I have two posted already, and I'm on Fanfiction.net, so yeah... I've been here for a year or so (on FF.N, not Portkey--I've only been here for a few months).

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

Excited. I had posted my stuff on FF.net but they accept almost anyone, so it was nice to be part of an elite club.

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I think I got an email about a month after applying.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I don't remember, I think I reposted the story I had up on FF.net with some edits to make the story better.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I just wanted to be on a site devoted to H/Hr shippers and didn't want to deal with flames from OBHWFers and idiots. I also like reviews and it seems that the reviewers here were more thoughtful than the usual stuff on FF.net.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I was thrilled. There was a lot of jumping up and down and squealing involved. And then I had to tell everyone I knew. laugh.gif

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I sent in my application a few nights ago and when I woke up and checked my email in the morning, lo and behold, there was my acceptance email.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I still haven't uploaded one yet. I'm working on a Lily/James fic as well as a Harry/Hermione fic. The stories from the other fanfiction site that I'm a member of need some editing and updating before I can post them. I don't want to post an incomplete story, especially one that I haven't updated in months and don't really have any intention of updating for a while. I'm lacking the inspiration to update it at the moment. *is ashamed*

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I wanted to become a Portkey author because number one, it's a Harry/Hermione supporting fanfiction site. Number two, there are some great authors here that I really admire and who made me want to try my hand at fanfiction in the first place. I just wanted to be a part of a website that had really great authors.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I was so pleased!! There could have been some hysterical-sounding laughter but I can't remember - I think that was at least 4 years ago!

As well, at that time I'd just received a rejection from ASMR, so I was very happy to know there was still hope for my writing!

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I got the acceptance email. Pretty quickly too I might add - I think it was only 2 or 3 days after I applied.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I think I waited a month - I had to revise my fic quite a bit before I finally felt confident enough to upload it.

4. What lured you to Portkey?

This was the first site with ALL of my favorite ships!! Back then, you couldn't find a Draco/Ginny site with copious amounts of R/Hr nor could you find a Harry/Hermione site without Ginny/Neville (not that I have anything against NG - I just happen to prefer DG). Actually, there weren't that many HP fanfic archive sites, period.

I loved Harry/Hermione, but the only site with decent fanfic I could find back then was this RHr site (maybe it was Sugarquill, can't remember...). That and the quality of fics on FFN was pretty bad - there were a few good ones, but some of it wasn't that great.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I smirked my lips off. I think my fingers actually grew little brains for themselves and were itching to start typing and posting up all these ideas. They're ready. And so am I. cool.gif

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I learned when I checked my email after a beautiful Staurday morning sleep in. smile.gif What a way to wake up in the morning, huh?

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

As soon as I got the email and checked out the hyperlinks in it, and posted here, I got to work on setting up my sample story. twisted.gif

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Portkey is the best. It's my lifeline to all things H/Hr and has been for the last five years. clover.gif J.K Rowling really broke my heart mad2.gif but Portkey kept it from shattering into a billion tiny, irreplaceable pieces. heart.gif thumbup.gif [font=Arial Narrow]

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I run to send an eternally grateful email to the wonderful mod that helped me so much, even if it wasn't something he had to do. *hugs Ian, whether he's still around or not*

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

Via email, again (Yes, I live in my hotmail inbox biggrin.gif)

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

Hours? Nah, minutes, more like it. I already had the story finished, so why wait more than I had already.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Portkey has my favourite ships ever, the ones I honestly think are better suited in canon. Plus, I love to write, and even if english is not my first language, I wanted to give it a try.

Ah, those days... biggrin.gif

IPB ImageBrace yourself for a long nostalgic post!

Wow, I got nostalgic reading this thread ... and many old threads here in PK. Thanks to all of you who participated in this poll! I hadn't expect it to last all these (four) years.

I miss many of you respondents who have now gone missing from PK and probably the fandom. sad.gif The older posts brought back plenty of memories, so I guess there's no harm in putting them here. Pls. excuse my frequent use of "I"; I lack the writing skill to make it sound less tiresome. biggrin.gif
I don't mean to ignore the newer posts, to brag or make the newer PK-ers feel out of place. I just want to preserve my memories here before my brain cells get too old to recall them, y'know?

Besides, perhaps some of our Portkeymates would lurk and read this, and get an idea of how much I (and others) miss them. mellow.gif

Joogie's winking 'cos I had sent her that email. *wink.gif back at Nelli* [FIC MODDING TRIVIA:] In the fic mod control panel, when mods approve or decline an app, there's a field where the mods can put their comments about the story. These comments get included in the automated email sent to the applicants to advise them about how their application was resolved. Joogie was talking about that automated email.[/TRIVIA]

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?
Email and email. With comments from Pen. *happy dance*

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?
Oh, I did it right away.

Nelli (Joogie) and Crys (InTheStars) did upload their sample fics within hours after we fic mods approved their app (i.e., enabled their author tools). I could tell because I was lucky to have their apps drop in my lap. IIRC, Crys herself became a fic mod soon afterwards.

Btw, I suppose Crys and other fic mods like Adam, moglie (mogliecat), Jennifer (Hermione's Twin), Ri (Szaranea), Sarah (Sarahkitty), Rach ((Scrivenshaft)), Nic (pottergranger4ever)) et al remember this:

Around June or July 2004, Moglie (and likely SarahKitty) asked NAPPA to put a moratorium on fic apps until the fic mods could clear the backlog of 60+ applications. Several of us were part-time fic mods and full-time forum mods. I was only able to handle one app at that time, which was Joogie's. smile.gif I remember reading it in an internet cafe, to kill time in between RL errands.

There were probably 20 - 30 apps in the queue before I picked Joogie's. Less than an hour later when I was done reading and approving her sample, there were no more apps in the queue! smile.gif Hooray for the hard-working fic mods, past and present!

QUOTE(Hermiones Twin / Jennifer @ Aug 15 2004, 11:10 AM) *
Some people read my ficlets and said I should, so deciding it wouldn't hurt to try I went ahead and tried to send in my application. Complete chaos. After spending some time in school PMing Pen we discovered that the apostrophe in my username was screwing everything up and she helped me fix it and send in my author's application. So really, all thanks goes to Pen. smile.gif

'Twas my pleasure, Jennifer. smile.gif *tries searching for your ficlets in the H/H Ficlets section* Strange, I can't find them now. huh.gif

Why did you want to be a Portkey author?
... Some kind of deal? devil.gif (Max, where are you?!)

Max (who's a she, btw) had been posting her ficlets cliff-hanger style in FAP SCUSA in 2002-2003. After much nagging mostly from me, I made a deal with her: I would beta one or two of her fics if she agreed to put more of her stuff in here, which she did sometime later. Much, much later. *wink.gif at Max*

I did beta for her by the time I made this post <-- which I made in the Beta Readers' Section' early days. I had said then that:
QUOTE(me @ Sep 28 2003)
Beta for: s----, did a little beta-ing for M-- & F------ <-- only because I harassed them no end wink.gif

I meant that "Beta for: sbys (Christine), did a little beta-ing for Max & for Fabiana". Fabi, Christine and I miss you!!!! Check our comments to your last (public) LJ entry!

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?
Peer pressure? IPB Image The emoticons? devil.gif Some kind of deal? devil.gif

~Pen twisted.gif

There's a reason I used those particular icons / smileys. Once upon a time in the Wonky threads,* we claimed icons just for fun. Mine was twisted.gif, Christine's (sbys) was devil.gif, and Nielle's (Anazecria) was IPB Image.

*Wonky threads = hyper-active threads in the Wrestling the troll forum. now defunct

I wrote "peer pressure" in my Aug 2004 post because (in that same Wonky thread), we had nagged Nielle to get a PK author account. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Anazecria / Nielle @ Aug 11 2004, 10:34 PM) *
Pen, do I need to answer these? You know my story probably better than I do! tongue.gif At the very least most of this is probably well documented at Wonky. ...

Why did you want to be a Portkey author?
The first question is a loaded and lengthy one. I came to PK to read fics, certainly not to write any. As to the second one, Pen knows it was peer pressure and getting "caught in a thingy of my own thingy". tongue.gif But PK Author... still funny about calling myself that.

To make better sense of Nielle's reply:

QUOTE(sbys /Christine @ Dec 2003, a few posts before the one I linked to above)
Speaking of Nielle's writing, I'm inclinded to agree with my fellow Wonks, you ought to sign up to be a Portkey author Nielle...you're much better at writing than I am. Just my .02 worth. *sigh*

QUOTE(Anazecria / Nielle @ Dec 2003)
I know I know. Or an alternative deal: I'll sign up to Portkey when Christine does.

QUOTE(sbys / Christine @ Dec 2003)
devil.gif Ha! Well, you'd better sign up then, Nielle. I've already been accepted as an author, just need to re-edit the first of my stories and post. Wanna rethink that deal?

QUOTE(me / Pen @ Dec 2003)
Cristine already is in PK's author list. NAPPA ok'd her application.

Nielle was caught in ...

QUOTE(Anazecria (Nielle) @ Dec 12 2003)
AH! *staggers* Alas! I've been caught in a thingy of my own .... thingy. Can I get out of this by claiming I had no knowledge that you were already accepted and run back to one of my other deals? hypocrite.gif

After more people bugged her, Nielle finally caved in:

QUOTE(Anazecria (Nielle) @ Dec 14 2003)
*has revisited the For Now Thread*
*sighs*
Fine I have bowed to (minor) public pressure. I have submitted to PK. Happy?
*runs away, far far away into her ditch*

I miss you guys and many more PK-ers. I'm sure many oldbie PK-ers miss you and that the newer ones will welcome you. If you do read this, please don't hesitate to post again. If I can come back here after three years of absence, then so can you. thumbup.gif There's more to PK than HP fandom.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

Got in after my second attempt. Channeled Snoopy and did a little happy dance...

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey?

I got the author acceptance email.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

Well, considering I checked my mail at 2am, I figured uploading could wait a few hours wink.gif

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Prepare for a long convoluted story...I was wasting time on the internet one day, trying to forget that I was supposed to be studying, when I ended up on FF.net. I started with Buffy the Vampire Slayer then, on a whim, I started looking at Harry Potter fan fics. Read a few, loved some of them and basically realized any pairing other than H/Hr got me all squicked out. That was 2 years ago and I've been a loyal H/Hr shipper since thumbup.gif Well, one story had a link to PK and when I got here, well...Harmony heaven. Who would want to leave? rolleyes.gif

Why did I want to be an author? Why not? biggrin.gif Haha, don't really know. Guess it's because I've got way too active an imagination and I figured I might as well get some use out of it.

gal-texter had been begging me to post my cookies on PK after I had originally posted them on FA.

Good times! I've recently dug up ficlets by our FA shipmates, like Bingblot, Kaze, biggerstaffbunch, Joyce Cohen. I'm sure there are more stories by Gil (romulus lupin), Gilly (gillian halliwell), Sarah (FayeValentine), Mel (happydaze), Tricia (simons_flower) and Nic (I've forgotten what her FAP name is, but she's pottergranger4ever here) posted in the challenges section or in our fanfic side.

To our other FAP crewmates, my apologies if my poor brain had forgotten your names atm!

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey?

Got the email ^^

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

About 2 hours I think, I wanted to double check spelling mistakes ^^;

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I was just browsing for other HP FF sites, and I was like 'DUDE. H/HR SHIPPERS.' *zooms* But it took me a while (months, even) to work up the courage to become an author, I dunno know but it always seemed so much more intimidating on here compared to FF.net xD

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I nearly cried actually. Never felt so proud of myself. It was a bit too much for an eleven [or twelve] year old to handle.

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

*think think* I think I received the e-mail. I always checked my e-mail ever since I submitted my application. tongue.gif

A minute? *kidding* I don't know. A day or a few hours.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Writing had always been my passion. After reading thousands [or less] of ficlets, I found myself thinking... I could do this. Harry/Hermione had always been my OTP at that time. Whenever I'm inspired, words just pour out. I just thought that I could definitely try it out.

I might as well answer this one.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I was ecstatic! I was so worried that I got rejected when I didn't get a response after a week (turns out that's normal though). You have to understand, it was my first time writing a fanfic, and I was so scared/nervous/insecure (I am still).

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?
Have updated the URL. ~gal-texter, 29May2008

When I saw that author options box....(I could not believe it I had to log in again just to make sure)

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

Obviously, I uploaded it in an instant, I was so excited I decided to go right through it without beta-ing it first.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I've been lurking in the shadows since years haha...I just recently made an account and I dunno...I felt like it was time to stop reading too much and start writing!!!!

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

Two or three I think, or less. I had to ensure it was all okay, as far as grammar and spelling etc. goes.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

Even though I lean more towards SS/HG in fanfiction, in canon I am a an eternal HP/HG fan and I don't understand what JK was thinking, much as I adore all the books!

I grew wary of the ship wars everywhere else. I had some R/hr stalkers on another site who bombarded my fics with anti-Harmony reviews as soon as I posted new stories/chapters. I wanted somewhere safe to post H/hr stories to like minded fans and hope they liked them

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a
Portkey author?

I opened my email at 6 am so I was a bit groggy when I saw the "Acceptance" email. laugh.gif My initial reaction was to smile.

A few hours later I shouted "Oh my god! I just got accepted at Portkey!" in the middle of my Political Science class. blushing.gif talk about late reaction, huh?

But, I'm really really elated. I didn't get in during my first try. I had to re-submit my author app several times so it is a BIG DEAL when i finally saw that acceptance e-mail.

Like I said, I found out through email. Then, I checked my account at PK's control Panel and saw the Author Options Panel. I played with explored the new controls I found at the Panel. laugh.gif

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first
story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I'm still in class right now. haha! I plan on uploading my very first story later when i get home. For now, I'm reading the Rules and Guidelines as of the moment. innocent.gif

And blush.gif I'm still a bit scared about posting so...

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey
author?

Harry and Hermione lured me to Portkey. Yes, indeed. I met them and they pointed the way to Portkey and said I should go there Kidding aside, when I started shipping H/Hr, I wasn't aware that a website for my ship existed since they're not canon. Yeah, I underestimated the powers of the Internet and of course, the power and enthusiasm of the H/Hr shippers.

So, I looked for sites. I noticed almost all H/Hr sites I visit are somehow affiliated with PK so I decided to visit Portkey and I instantly got obssessed fell in love with it.

As for the author, I dream of becoming a writer/author someday. Even though I'm not the best at it, I enjoy writing immensely.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I felt relieved. I thought, finally, my writing skills have improved enough to be accepted.

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

Email, although a mod asked me an outline of things to come first.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

A day or so after I've got my acceptance email.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I was lurking for H/Hr fics in FF.net, I stumbled on an author there who's also an author here and voila.

As for why I wanted to become a Pk author? Why not? I mean Canon already had their Happily ever after, its time to have ours *evil laugh* twisted.gif

That and I had a plot bunny that's been dying to come out, and I think PK is the perfect place to host it.

Wow, taintedwhite and cakeandmilk, it's great to see so many talented compatriots. Talented in writing fics and in art. I'm one of the few Pinoy PK-ers without any creative bone in their bodies, but I don't mind. biggrin.gif Congrats on getting your PK author badge.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there gal-texter. You are incredibly talented. I'm not sucking up here. LOL.

Seriously, you (and all Mods and Admins of course) always keeps PK in check. Now, that's a talent worthy of a worshippy.gif smiley.

So, there ---> worshippy.gif

Anyway, thank you gal-texter.

First of all, thanks to the mod for accepting me.

Now...

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

Honestly? I was half asleep when I checked my email this morning, so it took me a while to understand what I was seeing. Then, when my brain finally digested what I saw, I was like "YES!" and my family looked at me as if I had grown another head or something. But, since I was to happy to notice, I just kept with my song of victory.

As I said above, I got an email.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

Well, it's been over an hour since I got the email, so I haven't posted anything yet. I think I will by the end of the day.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I was looking for H/Hr fic at LJ (I tend to avoid many sections in ff.net these days), and came across this story that was posted here, and... well, I fell in love with the site.

I just wanted to be part of this amazing site.

I think that's all...

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side? as soon as possible. I got the email on my iphone, so as soon as I got home to my PC I uploaded. An hour or less?

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?
I came to Portkey to read Harmony fanfics and at the time I even said in my newbie post that I would not be writing. Never say never...but a plot bunny fell into my lap and I wrote, then learned that my betas in my other fandom read HP as well, so that helped.
I love the quality of writing in Portkey and was thrilled to be accepted as an author. Now, as an author, I'm impressed by the quality of reviews and the encouraging feedback I've received from reviewers.

1. How'd you react when you learned you've been accepted as a Portkey author?

I immediately felt as though I were as light as a feather. It was a weird feeling, reminded me of riding a roller coaster, coming down that first big drop.

2. How'd you learn you were accepted in Portkey or other sites? Which of these indicators did you notice first?

I was waiting for a week, and was expecting to wait a little bit longer, but I religiously check my email anyway. I was checking something online, and decided to check my email. Viola, there was my accepted application. It must be known, this would not have happened were it not for my beta Ali.

3. How many hours did you wait before uploading your very first story in Portkey's fanfic side?

I uploaded immediately, but had a learning experience with getting the file into the proper format.

4. What lured you to Portkey? Why did you want to be a Portkey author?

I started reading other fanfiction on fanfiction.com two years ago. One day I thought to myself I should check what they have for Harry Potter fanfiction. Being a Harry Hermione supporter from book one (come on it just makes sense, seriously) I searched under those parameters. I found Vox Corporis, which I believe is relatively famous in the H/HR fanfiction world. I read it over my long new years break from work (09-10), and the author mentioned this site at one point in the story in an A/N. I made my way over here and was absolutely beside myself with joy. I mean honestly, a whole site dedicated to my dream pairing. I have to wonder, I don't truly think that R/Hr supporters would have made a site had Harry and Hermione ended up together in the book. Wow I digress, I'm just so excited.

I wanted to be an author after I got attacked by a couple dozen plot bunnies. And I only wanted to post here. I felt that this place requires some level of decency in writing, and it is inspiring. Some of the writing on other sites is nothing shy of atrocious. However, I am not saying I am perfect. I got denied twice before I was accepted, and I owe virtually everything to my beta Ali.
