I'm royally ticked off right now. First it was Pumpkinpie.org, then it was Crossing the Line Undrawn, and now it's portkey.

I understand that not everyone is a H/Hr shipper. I'm fine with that. I'm avid enough for the whole lot of them.

It's when the places that are dedicated to OUR SHIP become invaded by the "Good Ship" and try to talk about how it's not going to happen that I become angry.

THIS IS NOT A DEBATING SITE! If the mods wish to create a section of the forum to encourage debate, I will bite my tongue. We have the deaththreads, and countless other debate sites for this purpose alone. I respect the R/Hr shipper's view of the books.

Pumpkinpie.org and Crossing the Line Undrawn, as well as this site, are places for US H/Hr shippers! Goodness knows the R/Hr shippers might have their fun in the book, can't you all leave us to dream in peace?!

Hey, I know what your saying! I've seen a couple of people who are R/Hr and they come over here to dis our ship! I can't stand that! Grrrrr One new member (Weasel) posted in another topic entitled "Who should Hermione end up with?" It said that we should get a clue and that Hermione was going to end up with Ron. They should just stay on their ship and leave us alone! Props to you briarswt for bringing this up.

I mean, express your opinions on your own forum!! Don't tell me to get a clue at a site that agrees with my beliefs. I don't go crashing other forums screaming "Harry and Hermione rock!!" So, why should anyone do something like that here.

Melissa, I completely agree with you. JK is very secretive as are all writers and I don't think she'd make such a final statement like that without having some motive behind it. Personally, I think she is trying to make it seem like R/Hr when she is actually planning H/Hr. It is the good old bait and switch. No writer is above using it.


I just hope this doesn't turn into a Shipper War. I was in one of those with another favorite OT ship and it wasn't pretty.

Heh, don't worry guys there'll be no shipping wars on Portkey. I checked the post made by Weasel and he does say he was only joking. I acn understand his reasoning since having a topic asking "Who should Hermione end up with" on the H/Hr thread is kinda redundant. Anyways he apologized for it so lets just try and forget it.

I seem to remember hearing about a debating thread being opened here early on when the site was opening. I beleive the idea was shot down since alot of people have a hard time stating their opinions without insulting the other person. I think we had a little spat with a few people from SugarQuill over some of the R/Hr shipper bashin going on here. So just to state, we don't tolerate that kind of thing on either front. If you see posts like that just alert one of us mods but try to ignore the post itself.

who do they think they are, going to a H/H site to discuss about R/H? I want a GOOD reason for that. And if they say it's a joke, oh . they want to debate? I don't see the point, they will lose.... H+H shipper R+h shipper too bad!

People we aren´t that low to comment such things. I mean If there are R/Hr shipper out there who like to enter portkey only to have fun good we don´t need get them the fun. IMO If we don´t react at this post they will go again. Faster as they can spell GOOD SHIP. So don´t let you get from them.

everyone here has very legitimate posts, and i agree with most of them. i dont like the fact that i cannot come to a place where it is ONLY h/hr, though. i really wish that there could be a safe haven, no r/hrs, no matter how openminded. its not that i have things against the r/hrs, i mean, im not being biased. i just would like it if we could have ONE place to discuss our own matters without someone 'infiltrating' the shelter.

I made a horrible mistake in my last post, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I just re-posted it. I'm sorry if it bothers you!

I haven't been around the last few days, but when I came back I was shocked to find this whole ordeal had taken place. As for my own thoughts, I have gone to Sugarquill and other R/Hr favouring forums, and yes, I disagreed and I had an inkling to blast them but I realized that that I did not want R/Hr shippers to come down and start blasting H/Hr as well, possibly because of me. If R/Hr shippers want to go to a H/Hr based web forum they should be prepared to be outnumbered and polite, and state their reasons for whatever they are doing. I know Portkey houses some R/Hr and neutral members but they are usually ones with an open mind. (I wouldn't know actually, being a newbie.) However, I find H/Hr shippers to be very nice and only get nasty when they are provoked to. Those who choose to travel here and attempt to sway us are tragically incorrect. The whole reason there is a H/Hr forum is because we LIKE H/Hr and want to discuss it openly with other H/Hr shippers. It is not so that R/Hr members can come and spread their "good cause" around, sometimes rudely and inconsiderately. It is a blantantly annoying and rude act, even if it is meant jokingly, it can and will be interpreted in a different way. If you are not ready to be open minded, considerate of everyone's opinions and rational, then you should not sign up for membership to an H/Hr forum when you are clearly against it.

I'm sorry if this has blown over already. I just wanted to give a knut.

I would love a place where H/Hr shippers could meet and live in internet peace, but I don't think its possible. Someone will always slip in through the cracks and make fun of our ships and beliefs.

I understand that Portkey can be accesed by anyone, whatever they ship, but if people are going to start cracking jokes, its not cool.

If anyone insists on preaching their ship, say an explaination, have an open mind and be mindful that this is a H/Hr site.

I do agree with you. They can not keep their mouths shut... Holy crap! I'm even more snuffy now, it's just antagonizing! I can't believe they actually deliberately provoke us to enrage us, I mean even on Sugarquill, they mention, if you are a H/Hr shipper then please don't rant on about it. Geez, if they have that as their moral, then why do they not comply to it? Oh my gosh, I think I'm going to blow up any second now. <<< them, they are commiting suicide.. surrendering to our ship! Blimey... that's not true... the population of them outnumbers us. WE GOTTA FIGHT ERM!

What the heck this is a H/Hr forum why come if its to rant about Hr/R They wouldn't like it if we went to thier sites and talked about H/Hr, so why do they come here, to be stupid and try to get us angrey.

Unfortunately, there are always shippers who are going to disagree, and since this is not just an H/Hr site, it's open to people who enjoy the other two ships featured.

Like there could be a user who like D/G, but they like R/Hr as well. There are a few people like that on this site. Portkey doesn't want to alienate them just because they like R/Hr as well.

I'll admit, I can't stand it when people come on this site to bash H/Hr. We have been fortunate, for the most part however, not to have loads of R/Hr or H/G shippers come on here and do that. The other shippers that have been on here have been polite most of the time and respected our views as we have theirs.

I'll tell you guys a little story, and it goes a bit off topic of H/Hr but on topic of ship wars. For a long time, I was a big fan of the show Days of our Lives. I was slowly losing interest, but then a new girl named Chloe came on the show. She was as real as they come, and then she was paired up with rich boy snob Philip.

Their relationship to this day is one of the best ones I've ever seen. They brought out the best in one another, Chloe taught Philip to not just think of himself and he helped her come out of her shell. Then, bad arse Brady came along and the writers gave him credit for everything Philip did and then Chloe became a completely different character.

Back to the topic now I belonged to a GREAT website called In Your Eyes, and they had a message board that for the most part, remained a fun place for us 'Phloers' to hang out and talk about our couple. When Brady came on the show, and the 'Bloers' started to have their own websites and such, we started getting 'spies' so to speak.

When a campaign would be announced in support of our couple, all of a sudden another one identical to ours would pop up. Bloers started coming on to our board in swarms, some polite like the R/Hrs and H/Gs have been on our boards, and some were just awful, like the ones who came on to Lady Aeryn's site.

My main point with that whole story, is that we don't want to close off the board and make it private and moderated like the girls at In Your Eyes had to do. L/J and D/G people who like H/Hr but don't love it may feel as if we don't want them then. That's not how Nappa, James and I want people to feel about this site. Our goal is to have a place where the three ships can unite.

Besides, how do we plan to convert those R/Hr H/G people if they can't get on here? hehehehe jk

I completely agree. This site is where I come to know that it is Harry/Hermione, and no one will bother me for liking it. Its where I know no one will insist I am wrong, and throw R/hr in my face. I do respect the other ships, and I DO see the possibility of them, be dangit I like to dream!! So let me dream!!

I don`t think that another thread was needed for this, but as the thread I wanted to reply to was locked, I think it`s nessecary to say this.

I know that a lot of R/Hrers have been coming here and joining and posting, and I have no problem with this. Welcome to Portkey!

On the other hand, this is not a site to debate R/Hr and H/Hr unless you go into the appropriate threads. One of the things I used to like about this site is how I could come here to enjoy my H/Hr, and not having to worry about getting mad about the R/Hrs saying stuff like "Well...R/Hr is going to happen, JKR even said so."
I don`t know if anyone said those exact words, but I have been seeing a lot of stuff like this. In a lot of R/Hrers signatures, they are putting quotes that support R/Hr from the books and interviews with JKR. I know that we are supposed to respect everyone`s opinion, but shouldn`t these things be kept the the Ron, R/Hr, and OBHWF thread? Or maybe the one discussing Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, and Harry/Hermione?

This website is to talk about our favorite ships and discuss them: H/Hr, D/G, L/J, and R/Lu. R/Hrers are welcome but I don`t think debate should happen in threads that us H/Hrers come to to enjoy the comments about H/Hr.

I don`t know if I`m right about this, and I`m not a mod, but I feel I had to express my opinion.

Hear, hear, Caramella! I agree wholeheartedly. All are welcome here and all are welcome to their opinions, but seeing as how it's a Harry/Hermione forum, it should be kept to Harry/Hermione discussions.

I agree Caramella. JKR has never come right out and said "Ron and Hermione are going to get together"... but that's neither here nor there.

The point is that Portkey is a place where R/Lu, H/H, D/G and L/J shippers can get together to talk about their favourite ships. We respect other shippers, but this isn't a place to spark off debates. It's not fair on us. There are a plethora of dedicated shipping sites, and I would ask that if you absolutely have to debate your ship then you go somewhere such as FictionAlley Park, where they have the debate thread. There's also many R/H or H/G sites out there - Sugarquill, Gryffindor Tower, to name but a few.

Respect us, and we will respect you. That's all we ask. And if you can't do that... well, I think you'd have to ask yourself seriously if you are a true fan of Harry Potter.

A big Aye to Caramella and tistytosty all we ask is for alittle respect is that so much to ask. Is it?

I have no problem with the opinions of others but this is actually a little funny....I really do NOT want to be rude but...maybe I just don't understand the reasoning for coming to a forum and demanded that everyone present is a moron for...having a reason...for having the forum in the first place... I was actually quite surprise seeing some of the threads. I'd like to welcome the R/Hr shippers here too as well and I do hope that they have fun here. And we're loving people, sure sometime we have the...erm, sarcastic barbs against Ron or R/Hr or H/G but we never bash any ships here. Well, maybe I've been guilty of that once, before... but I digress.

It's just that Portkey had always been my H/Hr home. I can post and sqeeee here anytime I want without being told, No way! R/Hr is meant to be.

I hope we didn't turned the R/Hr shippers away. It's nice to have other shippers here, more exchange of ideas. I just wish that they don't try to convert some of us, although I seriously doubt that can be done anyway, after we know what loyalty is all about, we have Harry and Hermione as the perfect example!

Yes, welcome to Portkey everyone. After all, we all like Harry Potter, so it's strange that there some places seems to exist such an innate hostility between Harry/Hermione and Ron/Hermione shippers. The reason why I like Portkey is that this is not such a place. However, I agree with Caramella that the Harry/Hermione forums are for ... Harry/Hermione shippers. Please respect that.

I definitely agree. It seems stupid to me when R/Hrs come here and start discussing their ship, I mean they have the Sugar Quill for that, why come here? They know we'll all just get frustrated. I agree with you all!
