Call me Victor. :)	So I'm surfing around and stopped by adultfanfiction and almost puked! What the heck is going on with all the Snape/Hermione fic's out there? Why do people see this as interesting? I'm sorry if I'm out of line or bashing but this just flipped me up. I can't even focus enough to write a proper post here, I'm just feeling sick thinking of this. I think I'll good read the most fluffy H/Hr story I can find right now. ::Feeling Sick:: Victor

I was just looking at the all the new/updated fics they had and read the description for one with Snape/Hermione. It suprised me when I kept finding more of them everywhere and yes, it may be disturbing, but I guess different people have different...tastes. I really can't think of any other reason for the existence of those fics.

Most fics about this particular ship are usually not for the weak of heart. One of the things this ship is known for is all of the wonderful smut. Our very own Aurora ships this ship, unless she's moved on?

Call me Pat or Patrick. :)	Yeah, Aurora still ships it. I really have no idea how this ship came about, but then again, I have no idea how most ships came about. It's probably mostly just based on a feeling of something that interests the reader. It just so happens that in this case, that feeling squicks many people. First of all, you don't know that Snape is the same age as her dad. Snape is the same age as MWPP/L, who were/are approximately 20 years older than the trio. I don't know about you, but how many of your friends' parents were twenty when they gave birth to your friends? My own dad was 38 when I was born, and my mum was 35. Snape could actually be loads younger than Hermione's parents.

Second, a very LARGE majority of Snape/Hermione fics take place AFTER her Hogwarts years. Do you disapprove of large age gaps in general, or just between Snape and Hermione? One of my friends' dads is eighteen years older than her mom. They actually have a very good relationship and their marriage has been going very well.

Personally, I read some of the SS/HG fics. Some, such as Pawn to Queen, by Riley, are absolutely amazing fics. I think it's unfair to say something like, "Why do you people find this interesting?" Many people have many differing tastes. I suppose I'm the odd one, though, as I read many different ships, like Severus/Harry, Remus/Ginny, Severus/Ginny, and so on, and enjoy them a lot. -shrugs-

Call me Victor. :)	Ashes, I asked "Why do people find this interesting?" because I just don't understand the pairing. Not that I have anything against people marring/dating people older/younger then themselves. This pairing is a baffling to me as DM/HG. I just can't see it happening as far as cannon is concerned, so thats way I asked. I have nothing against people who read/write these stories. What ever floats your boat, is cool with me. Harry/Hermione is my canon ship. However, I also read things like Harry/Draco and so on because they're interesting and I love seeing how authors manage to craft back stories and explanations and how they catalyze the relationships. It's all in good fun, I guess. I suppose it's also all what piques your interest and what doesn't. Snape/Hermione, I've noticed, is usually read by the older HP crowd (which doesn't mean much to me.. I'm 14). -shrugs-

i don't particularly ship anything other than the portkey ships (what luck!) and i'm not too fond of snape. (great characterization, but i dislike his greasy hair.) naturally, i don't like the idea of him getting together with hermione.

but you know, there are some really good ficlets on ss/hg like the one on the cookie thread on FAP called streets of heaven. -then again, really good writing can actually blur the lines between any ship fics.

and yes, i think the allure of ss/hg or lm/hg would have to be the really kinky stuff involved. most of these fics are smut. like someone else has said
