Just a quick question: Why are do H/Hers sail on the HMS Pumpkin Pie? I was wondering why it's called 'Pumpkin Pie.' Thanks for helping me out!!!

The Tale of the HMS Pumpkin Pie

Once upon a time, there was a writer and H/H shipper named Cassandra Claire. She was in the middle of writing the fourth chapter of a story called Draco Veritas. And, being the good, H/H shipper she is, decided to post a snippet of an H/H snog on to this board. Her snog was angsty and steamy and made many of us blush.

It also kicked our muses into high gear. A call was heard all 'round the great ship H/H (as it was then known) for snoglets of any type involving our two heroes.

Many people posted and there was one (by Narri) in which our hero, Harry, coming from a feast, tasted like pumpkin pie. No one is sure why this particular tidbit or turn of phrase caught on, but it did, sweeping through the ship like pink-eye in an elementary school.

Many, *many,* of the snoglets that followed described Harry as tasting like pumpkin pie. There were even whole ficlets built around our two heroes and pumpkin pie.

In short, pumpkin pie became our unofficial mascot, until one day, after many snogs and ficlets, someone said, "Let us forthwith be called the HMS Pumpkin Pie."

And, that, my friends, is the story of the great ship, HMS Pumpkin Pie.

I've tried looking for the fic by Cassie which started the Pumpkin Pie. I couldn't find it. I'm really sorry to bother you all with this but I really do want to read it and I was hoping if anyone can give me a direct link for it?

First, fanfic author Cassandra Claire posted (on FictionAlley.org) a teaser from her fanfic, Draco Veritas' Chapter 4. It's reproduced at the bottom of this this post. Take note of Ms. Claire's challenge at the end of her teaser. In response to Ms. Claire's challenge, Narri wrote her Pumpkin Pie ficlet (linked somewhere above). It ended with the words: “You taste like pumpkin pie.”

As you can tell, that phrase caught on.

I wrote that as a lark, as a response to that very question (why are you lot the Pumpkin Pie?) on a SCUSA thread. I had no idea we'd still be using it now to explain our strange name.

I don't know why they're the Good Ship, but as a lurky member of Sugarquill, they're trees because, as one of them said, "I don't believe in Ron and Hermione any more than trees. They're both just there."

Hope this helps. As for the Good Ship...a lapse of creativity, perhaps?

Hi everyone! Frequent person aboard the HMS Pumpkin Pie over at Fictionalley's SCUSA message boards There was this time where our ship, to promote Inter-Ship relations, was flooded with well-wishing R/Hr's. Please don't take me too seriously, but I think that the reason they are called the Good Ship is because of what saoirse said:

I don't know the full story. Maybe someone should ask them...?

But the story that you are all searching for, the link could be found on the ship's Public Service Announcements where it directs you to links like the unofficial H/Hr soundtrack list. But anyway, in order to find what you are requesting, you should go on over to the Pumpkin Pie Archive Yahoo Group and click on "files".

Once there, there will be a description of how the Tale of the HMS Pumpkin Pie which should explain everything.

Welcome aboard!! Here's some pumpkin pie. Well, I read somewhere that someone wrote a h/hr fic that involved Harry eating pumpkin pie, and ever since, Pumpkin Pie has been THE h/hr dessert. Everyone started using pumpkin pie in h/hr fics after that. Welcome again!
