WHY:
Portkey is now serving out 780GB of content each month. It is getting 67,000 unique visitors a day. Well over 90,000 in the whole of the month. To ensure a quality of service , and the site's existance, it's necessary.

How is the site funded at the moment ? -- We had raised enough to pay the setup fee of the site from the first time we asked for donations, so now the bill for the last three+ months has been paid for the most part from NAPPA's salary. The rest came from Heaven. Also small donations from members.

We get small amount of money for the clicks on the banners that we host on the site.

Every dollar will help to improve our services. Portkey is growing rapidly, far quicker than we had ever expected and it's still growing. With the number of people using Portkey growing, we could be forced to remove or lessen some of the features we provide in a few months.

We stress, however, that donations are not compulsary. Never will users ever pay for Portkey's features. All features that we provide will be free to all users. Do not feel obliged to make a donation, only donate if you can afford to do so and would like to help keep Portkey going, as well as provide new features.

I want to donate -- but not to show the logo. Is that possible ?
Very. If you don't want to show it, it won't show up. by default, if not asked, then I won't turn it on. If you have donated in the past, simply ask me to enable it for you, and it will be done.

I don't have a Credit Card / Pay Pal Doesn't doesn't accept my card !!
Options for this is very limited in that case. If you live in the US, you will be able to send a cheque to Heaven, who is one of our administrators. If you are from Germany, I can arrange something too.

Some countries aren't allowed to do business with paypal, because of fraud issues that Paypal has with those countries. If you aren't able to donate, and tried to anyway... you have our thanks. Like they say, it's the thought that counts more

For people asking about the site's finances: donations are always welcome. NAPPA's moving to another country (halfway around the world) this month, if he hasn't already, as mentioned here. Those moves are always costly.

EDIT: To clarify, once people have donated money, then they're entitled to have that piggy bank icon show up in their forum posts forever.
